Chapter Seventy-Six: Lin Su Joins the Sect
"Who the hell is snatching up all the silver the instant it appears?! Can't you leave me just a little?!"
After running the Qiaoyan quest over a hundred times, Yu Qian was feeling a bit worn out. She was just about to take a break when she saw the broadcast. She clicked on the profile: a healer, dressed in blue, only level 30, probably out of silver and unable to upgrade skills.
She nudged Wen Xiu with her elbow. "Xiu Xiu, look at the broadcast."
Wen Xiu minimized her browser to check the game, paused for a moment, then laughed. "Looks like this girl wants to buy silver too."
"Of course. Why else would she be ranting about people snatching silver? Honestly, that's just like you." Yu Qian rolled her eyes.
Wen Xiu ignored her, bought a broadcast herself, and replied, "It was me. No, I can't. #pickingnose"
Lin Su was so furious she almost toppled over in her chair.
After a whole ordeal registering with her mom’s ID and linking her bank card, Lin Su found that every silver transaction was already locked when she tried to buy. Unable to upgrade her skills without silver, she was at her wits' end.
She sent a private message to this "Sister Xiu'er": "Sis, can you please leave me some? I really, really need silver to upgrade! #pitiful"
"Sister Xiu'er": "If I leave some for you, then my guild won't have enough funds to level up. #pickingnose"
"Su Jiu": "Please, please, just some! I don’t need much, just three transactions, okay?"
Wen Xiu thought it over, then turned to Yu Qian. "Qian Qian, our guild can't just be people from our chat group, right? We should accept others too?"
"Of course. If we don’t take in outsiders, who’s going to run the merchant quests and all that random stuff? None of our top players will want to do that sort of thing." Yu Qian had already discussed the guild arrangements with Nuwa and the others.
Their group was too large for everyone to fit in one guild; each guild had a cap at 150 members. So, they’d decided to reserve 100 spots for people from their group, with the remaining 50 for merchants and other players.
If someone wanted to join another guild, that was fine too; there was no requirement to stay in just these few.
Currently, Six Realms Guild had given six spots to Luo An’an, leaving 44. Four groups of merchant slots were reserved, so there were still 20 open spots.
"What about this Su Jiu? Should we take her?" Wen Xiu asked.
"Who?"
"Su Jiu." She pointed at the chat on screen.
"The one who just broadcasted?"
"Yeah."
"Let’s take her. Anyone eager to spend money right away is probably aiming to become a top player." Yu Qian didn’t mind, as long as the person's character was decent, anyone could join.
"Alright."
"Sister Xiu'er": "Leaving you a few transactions isn’t impossible. Join my guild."
"Su Jiu": "????"
Lin Su was confused. Join a guild? Weren’t they talking about silver?
"Sister Xiu'er": "You need a guild anyway. Join mine and I’ll reserve five transactions for you."
"Su Jiu": "What’s your guild?"
Lin Su hesitated, wanting to learn more about this guild first. After all, she’d been gaming for years. As a heavy spender, she didn’t want to join some third-rate guild.
"Sister Xiu'er": "Six Realms. The first level two guild in the server, and soon to be the first level five. The best part? Everyone in my guild is a top player. #pickingnose"
"Su Jiu": "..."
Lin Su was speechless. Everyone a top player? How many real pros can there be in a single server? There’s no way they’re all in the same guild.
Months later, thinking back to her skepticism, Lin Su wished she could slap herself.
She’d assumed that with her level of spending, she’d easily hold a spot in the server’s top ten. She never expected she couldn’t even make it onto the rankings.
No, to be precise, she couldn’t even break into the top hundred.
Damn it, the entire top hundred was either members of Six Realms Guild or their allied guilds.
But that’s a story for another time.
As for now, Lin Su, in exchange for five silver transactions, sold her soul and agreed to Wen Xiu’s terms, joining Six Realms.
The moment she saw the list of guild members, Lin Su felt as though she’d joined a cult.
