Gu You didn't end up going to the same school as them. After the military training, Lin Su dragged Chen Jiuyi along to teach him a lesson for coming up with such terrible ideas.

Of course, that happened after the military training. Right now, it was only the very first day of it.

On the opening day of high school life, Lin Su found herself a boyfriend.

The boyfriend was none other than Chen Jiuyi.

Seeing Chen Jiuyi return to the assembly point with a silly, goofy grin on his face, Yu Qian knew immediately that the two had become a couple.

She blinked at Lin Su with a teasing smile, prompting a blushing Lin Su to elbow her in the ribs.

Faced with this retaliation, Yu Qian turned serious. "A drill instructor came by just now and said this afternoon counts as our rest time. We're supposed to gather here at six to head to the cafeteria for dinner."

Lin Su understood. No wonder there were so few people around; they had all headed back. "Then let's go back too."

"Yeah, we better go back and hide our snacks and phones, otherwise we'll be in deep trouble whenever they do a dorm inspection," Chu Yueyue blurted out, her words startling the others.

"You brought snacks?"

"You brought your phone?"

Yu Qian and Lin Su focused on entirely different things.

The two exchanged a glance and looked at her with sympathetic eyes.

Being stared at by both of them, Chu Yueyue couldn't help feeling nervous. "What?"

Exchanging another glance, Lin Su spoke first, "Shudu Base turns on signal jammers every September, specifically targeting the freshmen who sneak phones into military training."

Chu Yueyue froze in place.

Yu Qian chimed in as well, "Instructor Qin only went on his honeymoon with the teacher; he didn't resign. If he comes back and finds out you've gained weight, how do you think they'll react?"

Under this double blow, the poor girl radiated an aura of utter despair—feeble, pitiful, and completely helpless.

She remained in a daze the whole way as the two dragged her back to the dormitory.

Just as Yu Qian and Lin Su were leaning against their beds, half-asleep, Chu Yueyue suddenly let out a howl and leaped up.

Not only did she scare away their drowsiness, but she also woke up the other girls in the dorm.

"What's wrong?" The girl on the upper bunk above Lin Su rubbed her eyes and asked groggily.

"Nothing, just having trouble accepting reality," Yu Qian chuckled, waving a hand.

The girl looked dazed, fished out her glasses, put them on, and asked sluggishly, "What reality?"

Yu Qian looked at her, finding her adorable and dorky. "This idiot brought her phone and snacks."

The girl blanked for a moment before understanding dawned on her. "Doesn't she know about the situation at Shudu Base?"

"She didn't."

At this, the girl felt a wave of internal sympathy for Chu Yueyue. "It's fine, it's only half a month. Just grit your teeth and bear it."

As the person receiving the comfort, Chu Yueyue didn't feel fine at all; instead, she felt like things were unimaginably catastrophic.

Forcing a severe internet addict to go half a month without a phone, and a total foodie to go half a month without snacks—wasn't that practically killing her?

For the entire afternoon, Chu Yueyue remained in a state of utter despondency, barely touching her dinner.

Back at the dorm that night, looking at her phone—which had plenty of battery but zero cellular signal—she felt like crying without tears.

Just as she was mourning the tragedy of not being able to use her phone, the drill instructors arrived.

Seeing the instructors standing at the dormitory doorway, each carrying a basket, Chu Yueyue panicked. She wanted to hide her phone, but had no idea where to put it.

If the phone wasn't confiscated, even without a signal, at least it had battery power so she could play offline games. But if it got taken away, she would be left with absolutely nothing.

Before she could manage to hide the phone, the instructors walked in.

Naturally, the ones entering were female instructors; the male instructors stood outside the door and did not come in.

As soon as the female instructors stepped inside, they ordered everyone to open their suitcases and step aside.

Watching the instructors pull phones, snacks, and all sorts of other contraband out from suitcases, under bed sheets, beneath pillows, and from every conceivable hiding spot, Yu Qian, Lin Su, and Yu Ying—the girl who had chatted with them earlier—pressed their hands to their foreheads and laughed.

They hadn't expected Chu Yueyue to be the only one who brought these things.

To be precise, out of the entire dormitory, the three of them were the only ones who hadn't brought anything.
