Chapter 121: Understanding Li Chunfeng's Description of the Female Corpse as Driving
The two of them were busy helping to evacuate the villagers still inside Shanghe Village. Besides them, several others were also assisting, though these individuals did not wear the uniforms of the Supernatural Investigation Bureau, nor did they carry the same demeanor.
Lin Yi stepped forward to join An Yingxiong, Master Mu, and the others in the effort. The surrounding environment was such that one would need true strength to see clearly; massive, thick clouds of ominous energy had created something akin to a dense, black fog. Under the influence of this oppressive energy, some villagers had already fallen victim to its effects, suffering from vivid hallucinations. As they walked, some would wail in tears, while others burst into loud, manic laughter, as if they had just won the lottery. It was a chaotic display of human nature.
"Hmph, Wang Tiandi is lucky," Master Mu remarked while helping a villager move to safety. "He vanished somewhere, and we couldn't find him. If we had, I would have beaten him until he lost every tooth in his head."
Lin Yi smiled. "Don't worry, Master Mu. Sooner or later, we’ll settle the score. He can run, but he can't hide forever." Master Mu nodded with a hearty laugh.
Through the fragmented conversations of the group, Lin Yi gathered why everyone was prioritizing the villagers' evacuation. Some of the rescuers were members of various sects, while others belonged to organizations similar to the Whale Gang. The situation had escalated because something truly terrible had happened at Er Luzi’s home.
When they had first arrived, the red coffin—which had held the female corpse from the desolate village—was already emitting endless black fog, sealing off Er Luzi’s courtyard completely. According to a live feed from Liu He of the Tianhe City Supernatural Investigation Bureau, the truth was clear. In the video, Liu He recounted that ten years ago, when his neighbor’s daughter-in-law died and her body transformed into a naked corpse that looked just like her, everyone had panicked and fled in terror. Shortly after, the house was engulfed in chilling, black mist. It wasn't until much later, when the mist had cleared, that people dared to return. Liu He was among them. He admitted that he had touched the corpse, and others had as well. However, it seemed the others lacked his "lewd" nature. While they gained nothing, Liu He had obtained a Stone Pellet, which rejuvenated him and instantly granted him the strength of a C-rank, third-rate expert.
He claimed that shortly after he left the courtyard where the corpse appeared, the black mist returned and eventually vanished, along with the corpse itself. But the current situation was vastly different from what Liu He described; the ominous, black energy at Er Luzi’s house was spreading uncontrollably, a development no one had anticipated.
"Er Luzi’s house is gone!"
"Who knows where it’s shifted to!"
"I suspect Liu He is lying in that video," An Yingxiong said, his face grim. "He didn't tell the whole truth. Wang Tiandi knows what’s going on, and he must have made a move to reach the vanished house first."
The villagers had mostly been evacuated by now. Not everyone possessed Lin Yi’s level of strength, nor were they all grandmasters like An Yingxiong or Master Mu. While some villagers had been well-protected, others were already sickly and frail—the reason some had appeared to lose their minds earlier. Even after being brought to the outskirts of the village, these villagers looked as though they had suffered a severe illness.
When An Yingxiong, Lin Yi, and Master Mu returned to the scene, An Yingxiong shared his grim assessment. The others, including staff from the Supernatural Investigation Bureau, had been ordered to stay away for their own safety. The area was far too dangerous. An Yingxiong and Master Mu kept their energy subtly shielding Lin Yi to prevent him from being corrupted by the ominous aura. It was only when they noticed the golden light flickering around Lin Yi as he channeled the *Great Cave True Scripture* that they ceased, assuming Lin Yi was merely being stubborn about his own strength.
"Our top priority is to find Wang Tiandi," Master Mu said, and the others agreed. It was clear that if Wang Tiandi was morally bankrupt, Liu He was likely no better. If he were truly a decent man, he wouldn't have touched the corpse with such lewd intent. The Tianhe City branch of the Supernatural Investigation Bureau was nothing but a den of snakes and rats.
The group moved together, refusing to split up. Because the ominous energy was so thick, many weaker individuals had already been blocked from entering the village. That was why An Yingxiong had insisted the Shenjing branch staff remain outside, even stopping the likes of Bai Ke and Zhang Xu from approaching. Had Lin Yi not already proven his strength as a quasi-grandmaster, An Yingxiong would never have allowed him to come along.
The small village was now crowded with over a dozen grandmasters. Since they belonged to different factions, An Yingxiong warned Lin Yi to remain cautious.
As the three of them reached the small alley where Er Luzi’s house had once stood, a voice erupted from beneath the ground: "Heh heh... let’s see how you survive this time. You all want the corpse from the desolate village? Then you’re all going to die! An Yingxiong, Master Mu, Lin Yi—I’ve been waiting a long time for you!"
The voice was unmistakably Wang Tiandi’s. Master Mu’s eyes sharpened, and An Yingxiong pulled Lin Yi back. "You coward, Wang Tiandi! If you have the guts, come out and face us!"
*Boom!*
The ground erupted as Wang Tiandi’s hand burst through, creating a large crater in the dirt. With another loud bang, he heaved a millstone-sized wooden board aside. He had been hiding in a deep tunnel beneath the ground, using the board as a cover. He jumped out, laughing maniacally. "Do you know what it means to walk into a trap? Let me show you why all of you who covet the corpse are going to die!"
As Wang Tiandi finished speaking, another *bang* echoed nearby. Another person emerged from under a wooden board. He was a sharp-featured man with a narrow face and a stout, bulky build. Lin Yi didn't recognize him, but An Yingxiong gasped, "It’s you, Liu He!"
Lin Yi realized this was the protagonist of the incident from ten years ago. Liu He held a high position in the Tianhe City Supernatural Investigation Bureau, yet here he was, working hand-in-glove with Wang Tiandi.
"Heh heh... exactly, it’s me," Liu He chuckled. "Not bad, Wang Tiandi. You brought two grandmasters. They’ll be tough to swallow, but once they’re dead, the others will be easy pickings. I told you, news of the corpse would spread and draw plenty of people here."
Liu He glanced at Lin Yi. "You take the kid; I’ll handle these two—or rather, we’ll handle them together."
Liu He walked over to another spot, lifted a wooden board, and pulled out a female corpse. She was stunningly beautiful and completely naked. Lin Yi was close enough to see everything clearly; her skin was smooth and radiant, lacking the rot of a typical corpse, as if she had only just passed away. She was tall, even taller than Liu He, with jet-black hair and eyes tightly shut. Her face was incredibly charming.
Lin Yi felt awkward. He realized that the descriptions given by Li Chunfun at school weren't just jokes—they were accurate. The corpse was completely nude, leaving nothing to the imagination. He didn't want to look, but with enemies present, he had no choice.
A look of obsession crossed Liu He’s face. "Thank you for your hard work. After this, you will truly come to life. Once you do, the two of us can finally be together forever."
