Chapter Twelve: My F-Rank Potential After the Brawl
"Always calling people trash—who exactly are you talking about? Xu Liuxiang, right? I think you should change your name to Xu Bigmouth. You even tried to use that female water ghost to kill me. Fine, you’ve got nerve!" Lin Yi turned his head to look at An Miaoyi.
"Are these the kinds of people in your organization? With quality like this, they're not even as good as my dog... I wasn’t planning on joining your group, but now I have to. Still, I don’t want to see him around, so I’m leaving for now."
"Leaving? After offending me, you think it’s that easy? No one stop me—Yiyi, today I have to teach this guy a lesson. Calling him trash and he can’t take it? I want to see what he’s really made of!"
Xu Liuxiang, whose face was deathly pale, was stupefied at first by Lin Yi’s words, then his eyes reddened with rage. Gritting his teeth, he tossed the iron box to the burly middle-aged man, Wang Changshan. Then, to everyone’s surprise, Xu Liuxiang swung his fists and charged at Lin Yi.
An Miaoyi let out a startled cry—clearly she hadn’t expected things to turn so serious.
The office was cramped; in the blink of an eye, Xu Liuxiang was beside Lin Yi. The next moment, he kicked out viciously.
The kick was forceful and at a nasty angle—a low blow, aiming straight for Lin Yi’s lower half.
With several hundred pounds of force behind that stomp, if Lin Yi were just a normal, unprepared man, he would have been crippled! His family line would be in jeopardy, let alone any talk of beauties flocking to his side—it would be nothing but a pipe dream.
Lin Yi’s expression changed; he hadn’t expected Xu Liuxiang to be so ruthless.
However, after cultivating the "Great Void Sutra" and aided by the Body-Tempering Pill, Lin Yi’s strength was no joke. He let out a soft chuckle and, in the next instant, reached down with both hands.
To others, Lin Yi’s move seemed foolish.
Normally, a person’s arm strength is no match for a leg’s; unless you specifically train your fists and slowly build up arm power, your arms will always be weaker than your legs.
Xu Liuxiang, confident in his knowledge, thought Lin Yi was being foolish and put even more force into his kick. He even added an extra upward thrust with his toes—enough not to injure Lin Yi too badly, but sufficient to shatter Lin Yi’s arm.
But then came the "crack, crack" sound, followed by a wave of agony from his own leg.
The clown, it turned out, was himself.
He’d aimed to cripple Lin Yi, but Lin Yi caught his right leg and snapped it with his bare hands.
With a sickening crunch, Xu Liuxiang’s right leg broke completely.
His anguished scream reverberated through the office, almost forming a shockwave.
Taking advantage of the moment, Lin Yi gave him a push, spinning Xu Liuxiang around. Hopping on one leg like a toad, Xu Liuxiang crashed into the nearby desk.
As he turned, Lin Yi delivered a swift, heavy chop to the back of Xu Liuxiang’s neck.
A swift combination of moves left Xu Liuxiang unconscious. With a thud, he collapsed to the floor.
An Miaoyi, who had wanted to help Lin Yi against Xu Liuxiang, stood there, her mouth forming a perfect O.
The burly man Wang Changshan was also dumbstruck.
Li Na stared wide-eyed in disbelief. How could Lin Yi be so powerful? In just one exchange—three moves—he’d taken Xu Liuxiang down completely.
Xu Liuxiang wasn’t just any amateur; he was a trained fighter from the Changshan Martial Hall, a solid third-rate expert in the martial world. And yet, he was so easily defeated?
Looking at the unconscious Xu Liuxiang, Lin Yi shook his head and said helplessly to An Miaoyi, "Goddess, you’ll have to stand up for me. I didn’t do anything, and I was attacked. I deserve compensation for this!"
You want compensation? You just crippled a third-rate expert, broke his leg, and knocked him out, and you didn’t even lose a hair!
To An Miaoyi and the others, Lin Yi’s words were infuriating. But thinking it over, he made a good point. An Miaoyi’s expression shifted, and new thoughts began to form.
This Lin Yi—able to destroy a third-rate expert with ease—was definitely on a higher level than she’d imagined.
An Miaoyi’s eyes sparkled.
She’d never liked Xu Liuxiang much, and had clearly seen through his ploy—he’d wanted to get rid of Lin Yi, whom she favored, to elevate his own standing in her eyes.
But he was truly brainless. She hadn’t liked him before; why would she change her view because of this farce? If anything, he only made himself look worse.
"So, you were just pretending all along. You claimed you didn’t know any experts—but Lin Yi, who would have thought my old classmate was the real boss here, a true scion. Enough talk... let’s test your potential. That’ll put my mind at ease. Come on, behave, hurry up..."
The more she thought about it, the more excited An Miaoyi became.
She was, after all, a young woman. Finishing her words, she dashed over to Li Na, and while Li Na was still dazed, she pulled a small, precise instrument from Li Na’s cloth pouch.
It looked like a syringe, with a digital display on top and a funnel-shaped base bristling with colorful magnetic needles.
"Don’t worry, it won’t hurt. Be good and let me give you an injection..."
An Miaoyi waved the device at Lin Yi and closed in.
Looking at her, Lin Yi was suddenly reminded of those action films with the intimidating nurses.
Truth be told, he’d been terrified of injections since childhood. He’d heard from his mother that once, during a vaccination, he was so scared the needle got stuck in his backside and couldn’t be pulled out.
So Lin Yi tried to turn and leave.
But An Miaoyi gave him no chance. She jabbed the device straight into his arm.
It hurt—a lot.
Who knew what metal those needles were made of, but they pierced him instantly. Even though Lin Yi had weakened his skin with the Great Void Sutra, his body was still far tougher than most, yet the needles went in easily.
Soon, the lights on the device began to flash.
On the display, a large letter appeared: "F."
The excitement on An Miaoyi's face froze.
Seeing the glaring "F" on the screen, she went pale.
Mumbling to herself as if soulless, An Miaoyi stared blankly.
"How can this be... How is this possible? How can it be F?"
"It’s not right. You just defeated a third-rate expert so easily—Lin Yi should at least be a second-rate fighter. How can his potential be F?"
An Miaoyi was baffled, and Li Na on the side was equally confused.
"F potential... A, B, C, D, E, F. My god, I don’t think... I don’t think anyone has ever scored F before. Only regular people get F. Sister An, could there be a mistake? Should we test again?"
"Yes, let’s test again." Gritting her teeth, An Miaoyi repositioned the device, grabbed Lin Yi’s left hand, and jabbed it in.
Again, the lights flashed—and the display remained at F.
This time, An Miaoyi was thoroughly lost.
Li Na was speechless.
The room fell eerily silent.
The middle-aged man who had been silent until now narrowed his eyes, then let out a laugh.
"Little An, the one you found is utter trash—his potential is worse than most ordinary people. Strength doesn’t mean high potential. It seems Lin Yi is only strong because some expert gave him rare treasures or elixirs. He’s strong for now, but in truth, he has no potential at all! He’s a waste!"
"Lin Yi, is it? Whether you join the organization or not, I’ll tell you this—or rather, I’ll tell the expert behind you—today you’ve beaten the Xu family’s Xu Liuxiang, so just wait. Neither the Xu family nor the Changshan Martial Hall will let you off!"
Having said his piece, Wang Changshan walked over and picked up Xu Liuxiang.
But before leaving, he turned back to look at Lin Yi.
"Young Master Xu’s background is far stronger than you imagine. Today’s matter is far from over. And with such worthless potential, you’d best not think of joining the organization. We don’t need trash like you. I’ve said my piece. If you can prove yourself, I, Wang Changshan, will eat shit upside down."
With that, Wang Changshan strode out.
If An Miaoyi hadn’t held him back, Lin Yi would have been ready to fight Wang Changshan right then and there. The only reason Wang Changshan didn’t attack was because he wasn’t sure he could win—otherwise, Lin Yi wouldn’t have minded teaching him a lesson first.
Still, Wang Changshan’s words made it clear: the Xu family behind Xu Liuxiang had some real power.
As for An Miaoyi and Li Na, they were uncharacteristically silent.
