Chapter 136: Cannot Defeat, Cannot Escape
White Light Blade!
Zhuya gripped the White Light Blade, his aura surging instantly. Without a second thought, he swung it at the massive column of water. Before anyone could comprehend what had happened, the ten-meter-thick water pillar was cleanly severed by Zhuya’s light, effortless strike. The front portion cascaded down like a waterfall, rushing toward the ground and forming a small lake in a low-lying area. Boba sucked in a mouthful of air, and the rear half of the water column was entirely pulled back. Everyone stared blankly at Zhuya and the blade in his hands.
Drawing a blade to sever water, yet the water continues to flow!
How could this White Light Blade, condensed by the Smiling Teeth, achieve such a feat? Zhuya had easily intercepted Boba’s water column, but he didn't stop there. He launched the White Light Blade, sending it flying toward Boba’s massive head. Boba let out a low growl that shook the earth once more. The blade struck the creature's neck, yet it made no sound, leaving only a shallow green mark. The onlookers were stunned again.
This behemoth, Boba, possessed skin of incredible toughness; even premium-grade magical artifacts could not inflict the slightest injury upon it. How had this White Light Blade managed it? Seeing his easy success, Zhuya grew bolder. He hovered the blade above his head, casting spiritual incantations without pause. The blade expanded rapidly, becoming fifteen meters long in the blink of an eye, and struck at Boba once more.
By this time, Boba’s body had shifted horizontally, suspended in mid-air. It tilted its head toward the sky, and a stream of foul-smelling, emerald liquid shot into the air, falling just in time to block the path of the White Light Blade. Zhuya was not afraid; he had easily severed the water column before, so what was this small stream of green water? He commanded the White Light Blade to slash and hack, but it could not break through. The green water seemed illusory, lacking any physical substance to strike against.
Across from him, Boba let out a soft whistle toward the heavens, and the pool of green water began to change. Like a gentle spring breeze, three ripples spread across the surface. With each ripple, the radiance of the White Light Blade dimmed. When the third ripple struck, the blade was as if imprisoned, left without any power to fight back, waiting helplessly to be struck.
With a crisp "snap," the seemingly indestructible White Light Blade was shattered into three pieces by the ripples. The members of the Smiling Teeth coughed up blood simultaneously; the blade was forged by their collective energy and tied to their very life force. As they reeled from the shared injury, Lei Xiang quietly pulled out his White Jade Bed. Both sides were now locked in a desperate, fiery struggle, and they were far too occupied to notice a minor character like him. He prepared to flee, waiting only for an opening.
The opportunity finally arrived. The black clouds surrounding Zhuya were rapidly absorbed, leaving behind only a black cocoon hanging lonely in mid-air. It was buffeted about by the water arrows Boba fired, yet it remained unbroken.
Suddenly, a shrill, savage laugh erupted from within the black cocoon. The casing burst open, revealing a molar as large as a house. The base of the tooth was intact, but its top featured a pitch-black cavity where something appeared to be wriggling.
Having lived the life of a modern man, Lei Xiang immediately identified the sight: a worm-eaten tooth!
Could the true form of Zhuya be the creature inside this molar, having cultivated itself into a human shape? Boba, however, cared nothing for the nature of the tooth. It opened its massive maw, and a foul, powerful suction force erupted, pulling the house-sized molar toward Boba’s throat like a falling meteor.
Inside the cavity of the tooth, Zhuya twisted his body frantically, as if struggling with all his might...
Lei Xiang seized this moment. The wheels of his Wind-Fire Boots spun, and he surged onto the White Jade Bed. With a kick of his toes, he sped off in a pre-determined direction. With Boba and Zhuya locked in battle, no one was left to maintain the barriers Zhuya had set, and Lei Xiang broke through them with ease. The others below finally reacted; whether from the Boro Sect or the Smiling Teeth, they all followed suit, knowing that if these two peak experts continued their death match, they would surely be caught in the crossfire.
In an instant, the air was filled with streaks of multicolored light as everyone fled. Even Daoist Wubo had vanished.
Lei Xiang, flying at the front, felt no joy in his escape; instead, he grew increasingly anxious. He had quietly deployed his Crystal Jade Puppet, sensing he was being tracked by divine consciousness. The pursuer was closing in fast, and with the help of his blue-eyed vision, Lei Xiang clearly saw that it was the White-Haired Granny.
"Should I find a place to set an ambush and break free?"
Before Lei Xiang could decide, a thin silver thread struck his White Jade Bed, causing it to rock violently. Lei Xiang dared not be careless and pushed his speed to the limit. Three more silver threads shot toward him. He managed to dodge one, but the other two hit his bed squarely, cutting his speed in half and threatening to bring him to a complete halt.
Lei Xiang desperately pumped spiritual energy into the bed, and it trembled, preparing to accelerate again. Yet, the White-Haired Granny remained a hundred paces behind. Even without his blue-eyed vision, Lei Xiang could clearly see her hands pulling and retracting as if she were reeling in a kite, dragging his White Jade Bed and preventing it from moving forward.
Such power was terrifying! To be able to drag a flying magical artifact through sheer force alone? Lei Xiang could not simply wait to die, but his frantic resistance resulted in the White Jade Bed buckling under the pressure and shattering into pieces. Lei Xiang had no choice but to step onto his Nine-Treasure Lotus Staff and continue his flight.
The Nine-Treasure Lotus Staff possessed incredible offensive power, but as a flight artifact, it left much to be desired. In the blink of an eye, the distance between him and the White-Haired Granny narrowed to fifty paces. The Pink Rose Sword in her hand flashed with a pink light, aiming for Lei Xiang’s heart. Lei Xiang knew the vast gap in their cultivation; he could not outrun her, and he certainly could not defeat her in a head-on fight.
With a thought, his Blue Lotus Disc flew out, expanded to its full size, and blocked his rear. No sooner had he done this than the Pink Rose Sword arrived. With a sharp "ding," the tip of the sword struck the disc. The once-impenetrable Blue Lotus Disc was sent flying back, a testament to the Granny's profound internal power.
The rebounding disc slammed into Lei Xiang’s back. He coughed up blood twice, his mouth stained red. He turned back, staring in shock at the approaching Granny. He could not believe that a mere tap from her sword could overwhelm his strongest defense. Floating in mid-air, Lei Xiang gripped his Ninety-Nine Immortal-Shooting Gun, a plan forming in his mind.
By now, the White-Haired Granny had stopped ten paces away. She held the Pink Rose Sword steady, pointing it at him. "Young man, I think you should stop resisting. Although that broken gun of yours is powerful, it’s nothing in front of me. Just be good and come back to headquarters with me to await the Sect Master's judgment."
Go back with her? That would allow him to infiltrate the Smiling Teeth’s headquarters, but with his current cultivation, he would have no chance of turning the tide—at best, he would be a puppet at their mercy. It was better to hold his own fate in his hands. He had to reach the headquarters, but not as a captive. A faint smile touched his lips.
The White-Haired Granny watched him strangely. This unremarkable young man could still smile when driven to the edge of destruction; did he have some greater trump card? Thinking this, she gathered her full spiritual power, preparing to strike first.
Suddenly, Lei Xiang moved—or rather, the index finger of his right hand moved. With a soft "pop," a wisp of blue smoke emerged from the barrel of the Ninety-Nine Immortal-Shooting Gun. The Granny tensed, pointing her sword and silently conjuring a blood-red wall of light to shield herself. But to her astonishment, the shot was not aimed at her; the Heaven-Crystal Bullet had been fired into the sky.
"Pop." The bullet exploded, and everything in that place changed.
