Chapter 135: The Busty Beauty
Facing the sudden onslaught of white light, Lei Xiang did not hesitate to unleash the Blue Lotus Disk. This was his most potent defensive artifact, forged from the remnants of a celestial meteor shower, and he was certain it could withstand the light, which had splintered into a hundred beams. However, the moment the light struck from above, Lei Xiang discovered a grave problem: for some unknown reason, the Blue Lotus Disk shuddered violently and shifted two inches to the side. It was precisely this gap that allowed the white light to descend unimpeded.
Before Lei Xiang could react, the white light struck the top of his head. As it attempted to bore through his Baihui acupoint, it encountered a thin, resilient membrane that resisted its advance. Despite the light’s repeated strikes, it could not pierce this film. This bought Lei Xiang precious time. With a flick of his feet, the rollers on his Wind-Fire Boots ejected, and he slid out of the light’s radius like a darting fish. Recalling his disk, he fled into the sky without looking back.
Lei Xiang understood that this was a force he could not confront. Had the Universe-Qi Bag not saved him just now, he would surely have met the same fate as those people with satisfied smiles. Even if he exhausted all his treasures—the Ninety-Nine Immortal-Piercing Gun, his Golden Core puppet, Tian Rui, and Daoist Wubo combined—they would be no match for even a fraction of the enemy's power. The disparity was immense; only a fool would stay. But could he even escape?
Hardly a mile into his flight, Lei Xiang slammed into something soft and was violently recoiled, crashing back down. A sweep of his spiritual sense revealed no suspicious obstacles, only others crashing down alongside him, all hitting an invisible barrier. By then, black clouds had completely swallowed the sky, plunging everyone into total darkness.
When someone lit a moonstone, Lei Xiang finally saw the people who had worn those satisfied smiles. They lay on the ground, bodies convulsing uncontrollably. Their faces had changed; the smiles were gone, replaced by a ghastly green hue, and their skin had pulled tight over their bones.
A voice, as grating as a rat gnawing on wood, echoed from the black clouds: "A mere Boruo Sect dares to offend my Great Laughing Tooth? Today marks the day of your sect's annihilation. None of you shall escape."
Realizing his doom was inevitable, Lei Xiang calmed his heart. While channeling spiritual energy into the Blue Lotus Disk and clutching high-grade spirit stones to replenish his reserves, he calculated an escape strategy. Among the group, Daoist Wubo remained the most composed. He sat cross-legged with his eyes closed, the Boruo Sect’s ultimate treasure—the Peerless Boruo Sword—resting across his lap.
The black clouds above roiled before splitting open. This time, instead of a deluge of white light, a massive green hand extended. The arm stretched indefinitely until it hovered over the crowd. Sharp, foot-long nails, ghastly white and sickly, protruded from its fingers. Those struck by the nails collapsed instantly.
At this moment, Daoist Wubo opened his eyes; they were blood-red. As he chanted a rapid succession of spells, the Peerless Boruo Sword hummed and took flight. Its target, however, was not the green hand, but the demonic clouds in the northwest corner.
"Clang!" A thunderous resonance shook the air as the demonic clouds were rent asunder. The sword whistled through the gap and plunged into the darkness with a dull thud. A faint sound of surprise emanated from the clouds, as if the entity could not believe anyone could breach its domain. The green hand gestured, and the white-haired crone stepped forward, bowing respectfully: "Your subordinate greets Elder Zhuy ya. Please, give your command."
The green hand pointed toward Daoist Wubo. The crone understood immediately and declared in a loud voice, "Reporting to the Elder, this man is the current Sect Leader of the Boruo Sect, known as Daoist Wubo. His sword must be an ancient divine weapon, which is why he managed to strike out by surprise. But even if he grows wings, he shall not escape."
"Oh..." A long, relaxed sigh emerged from the demonic clouds. The green hand scooped up a Boruo disciple and squeezed gently, reducing the man to a bloody pulp. Just as the hand prepared to strike again, the earth trembled violently, as if a massive earthquake had struck. A half-meter-wide fissure appeared, spreading rapidly until the ground cracked open, revealing deep trenches everywhere.
"ROAR!" After a heaven-shaking bellow, a colossal black shadow drifted over. Where it passed, the demonic clouds dispersed, revealing the sun. Even with their spiritual senses, the crowd could not discern what the entity was. Only Lei Xiang, channeling his Divine Thunder Slash and peering through his blue-tinged eyes, could barely make out that it was merely a head.
The head was as tall as a multi-story building and over a mile wide. Its two eyes were as cold as a full moon, and a sword—the Peerless Boruo Sword—was embedded diagonally in its forehead, swaying with the creature's movement. It seemed to lack a nose, possessing only a mouth the size of a lake, from which animal bones tumbled out with a clatter.
The crowd was stunned, save for Daoist Wubo, who remained as tranquil as an ancient well. He had unleashed this beast to deal with Zhuya. It was a primordial holy creature, savage by nature, sealed by the ancestors of the Boruo Sect. Only the successive Sect Leaders knew how to break the seal, a feat requiring the power of a Golden Core. The "Ten Thousand Ox Feast" Lei Xiang had witnessed earlier was a blood sacrifice ritual to temporarily control the beast after breaking the seal. Daoist Wubo had just used the Peerless Boruo Sword to trigger the seal and successfully add a second layer of suppression to the beast’s forehead.
Daoist Wubo lacked the strength to fully open the seal, but as the current leader, he knew the process. The seal consisted of three layers; he had used the sword to break only the first, and then borrowed its power to reinforce the second. Ancestral teachings forbade releasing this beast, as it was said that if it were set free, not just the Boruo Sect, but the entire continent would be turned upside down.
With only the first layer broken, the beast retained only a third of its power and remained bound by the other two layers, preventing it from leaving the sect grounds. Yet, even at a third of its strength, its power rivaled that of a late-stage Golden Core cultivator, easily capable of countering the early-stage Golden Core Elder Zhuya. Daoist Wubo seemed to have the upper hand.
The beast was called "Boba."
As Boba crawled slowly forward, Zhuya made his move. Sensing the immense threat, he withdrew the demonic clouds, condensing them into a pitch-black sphere less than ten meters wide. By now, the crowd could see Boba’s massive body; it resembled an oversized furnace, at least ten meters in diameter, with over a hundred meters of its bulk exposed above ground.
"Pfft." The massive head opened its mouth, spitting out two ox skulls. A long, pitch-black tongue shot out like a bolt of lightning, striking the black cloud sphere. Sparks flew with a blinding flash, yet the tongue remained unscathed, coiling around the sphere as if the electrical discharge had no effect. Lei Xiang was awestruck by the tongue's resilience, and Zhuya, within the clouds, was even more shocked. He retreated the clouds into his body and, seizing the moment before the tongue could fully constrict, transformed into a streak of black wind and soared into the sky.
Seeing this, a smile touched Daoist Wubo’s lips, but his tension returned a moment later. Zhuya’s blurred figure moved, his hands weaving complex seals. The remaining members of the Laughing Tooth organization spat out a tooth each. Zhuya gathered these hundred-odd teeth, absorbed them, and thrust his hands forward. A white light, brighter than lightning, slashed viciously at Boba’s head.
The five-meter-long blade of light struck the massive head like an itch being scratched, leaving only a shallow white mark. Horrified, Zhuya hurriedly chanted incantations, summoning gray-black clouds that gathered in the sky. Thunder rumbled, and bolts of lightning, thick as a man's arm, rained down upon Boba.
Even the sturdy Boba could not withstand such an assault, twisting its fleshy body and opening its maw to spray a torrent of water. The water jet, several meters thick, shattered the dark clouds, piercing through them. Boba spat again and again, until the clouds were completely dispersed.
High in the air, Zhuya ground his teeth in frustration. After a moment of silent, erratic movement, he spat out a white tooth the size of a peanut. Though much smaller than the others, it held hundreds of times more spiritual energy. As Zhuya spat it out, his complexion turned a sickly, bean-green.
In this desperate moment, Zhuya focused entirely on the small white tooth, his hands moving like windmills as he channeled seals into it. He sprayed three mouthfuls of pale green blood onto it, then cupped it in his hands, slowly pulling them apart. The tooth stretched into a white blade of light, solidifying as it caught the wind. Grasping the blade, Zhuya’s mental energy surged.
