Chapter One Hundred Twenty-Five: The Seven Demon-Subduing Sons
"Heavenly Demon, what exactly is inside those seven eggs?" Since he had decided to gamble his life on this, Qin Feng had to clarify the situation; items held in such high regard by the Heavenly Demon were clearly no ordinary objects.
"The Seven Keepers of the Demon!" the Heavenly Demon sighed faintly in reply.
"What are the Seven Keepers of the Demon?" Qin Feng searched his memory, but found no information regarding them.
"You wouldn't know. It is an obscure legend from the ancient era. Even for me, it was nothing more than hearsay. I had always assumed it was just a myth; I never imagined it would be true!"
Legend has it that the Seven Keepers were seven mysterious powerhouses who sacrificed themselves during the ancient era, uniting the forces of the Qingxuan Continent to resist an invasion by the True Demons.
"Are they all human?" Qin Feng asked, startled.
"Human? Heh, Qin Feng, although your vision is far broader than that of your peers, it is still confined to the Eastern Region of Qingxuan. The Seven are not all human. The Qingxuan Continent is vast, home to countless mysterious alien races. Many of these races possess monstrous physiques and god-like supernatural abilities, but for certain reasons, they have been forced to hide in mysterious, remote regions—things you know nothing about!"
"Alien races?" At this moment, Qin Feng suddenly recalled the time when the Shu Sword Mountain was invaded by two mysterious figures, particularly the strange fellow covered in bone spurs—a mysterious being named Gu Lie.
"Exactly, alien races!" However, there were indeed humans among the Seven.
"For instance, that one..." The Heavenly Demon gestured toward the giant white egg.
"A human?" Qin Feng’s eyes flickered, then turned cold. After all, that lecherous toad from earlier had just crawled inside that very egg.
The Heavenly Demon, oblivious to Qin Feng’s expression, continued, "These Seven Keepers likely perished while joining forces to suppress the True Demons. Yet, the demonic environment here has allowed their powerful physical forms to be reborn. As for what they will be reborn as, that remains unknown."
"True Demons?" Qin Feng felt a deep shock. He knew what True Demons were. In this world, those who cultivated demonic arts were not True Demons; they were merely humans who practiced cruel methods. Real demons, however, were beings from another realm—the formidable, god-like entities that remained after the inter-dimensional invasion wars. Only those transcendent existences were titled True Demons by the world.
Qin Feng gave a bitter smile. He assumed the golden ancient talisman was the result of the Seven exhausting their lifelong cultivation to suppress the True Demons. If the Seven couldn't handle the threat, did he dare to tweak a tiger's whiskers?
"How do we take them?" Walking over there was a death sentence. The Heavenly Demon was truly bold to try and lure him into this.
"Qin Feng, danger and opportunity often coexist. This recklessness might be an opportunity for you, as the first attempt to retrieve an egg carries the lowest risk," the Heavenly Demon urged tirelessly.
To be honest, the temptation was significant. According to the Heavenly Demon, if he could obtain one of these eggs and raise it, he might gain a super-powered bodyguard in the future.
Qin Feng pondered for a moment before asking, "Heavenly Demon, what are our odds of success?"
"About fifty percent. If we fail, we will likely be sucked into this demonic abyss, which is likely a gateway to another realm. Death is a minor matter; being denied the cycle of reincarnation forever—that would be the real disaster. Whether to take it or not is your decision!"
The Heavenly Demon tossed the dilemma back to him. Qin Feng stared deep into the demonic abyss for a long time, particularly at the white egg, before finally making his choice.
"Fine, let’s do it!"
The Heavenly Demon blinked, his tone excited. "Excellent. Have you decided which egg to take?"
"Is there a difference?" Qin Feng asked.
"Of course there is! Based on my intuition, there are three among these seven that suit you: the black, the gold, and the cyan!"
Qin Feng frowned, deep in thought. After a moment, he asked, "Can I choose the white one? Or perhaps find a way to destroy it?"
"You kid, you’re still as stubborn as ever!" The Heavenly Demon sighed. He understood Qin Feng's concerns. That lecherous toad he had been hunting had seeped into the white egg, and the two had merged. If that egg were to hatch and grow, it would undoubtedly become a major future threat. Qin Feng’s goal was clear: to nip the danger in the bud.
After a brief pause, the Heavenly Demon replied, "The white egg isn't really suited for you, but if you insist, I can assist you in retrieving it. Forget about destroying them; their shells are incredibly hard. With your current strength, you couldn't even leave a scratch!"
"Good, then we take the white one!"
With the decision made, the next step was to plan the retrieval. The demonic abyss was undoubtedly perilous; it was like stealing meat from the side of a tiger's cage—one careless move and he could be bitten, or even lose his life.
"Layer three of your flames and lie inside the coffin. When I give the command, emerge and seize the egg. Focus on defending against the danger hidden behind the sealing talisman; leave the rest to me!" the Heavenly Demon instructed crisply.
"Understood. You be careful too; don't push yourself too hard!" Qin Feng was slightly worried, as the Heavenly Demon’s Xueqi Coffin had only recovered about twenty percent of its peak strength. Stealing from the jaws of a tiger required careful calculation.
"Let’s begin!" Qin Feng nodded.
Flames instantly enveloped him—the Burning Blood Purifying Fire in the first layer, the Marrow Spiritual Bone Fire in the second, and the Nine-Devouring Fire on the outer layer. These three layers of flame turned Qin Feng into a man of fire as he lay down inside the coffin.
Once Qin Feng was inside, the Heavenly Demon began to guide the coffin forward. Because the abyss possessed a powerful vortex suction, the coffin moved rapidly toward the entrance even without acceleration.
The speed increased! The suction was like an evil, devouring source of magic, pulling everything toward destruction. Lying in the coffin, Qin Feng’s heart hung in the balance. It would be a lie to say he wasn't nervous; he was gambling his life. But having weathered countless storms, his character was as tough as a demon's, and he had the courage to take this gamble.
It was a ruthless drive within himself. Qin Feng clenched his fists, waiting. Since the day the Heavenly Demon’s Xueqi Coffin had recognized him as its master, it had become one with his body. Thus, he could see everything outside the coffin with perfect clarity.
Qin Feng felt as if a pair of eyes behind the golden ancient talisman were staring directly at him. It was naked, cruel, and bloodthirsty, making his skin crawl and drenching him in cold sweat. Yet, at the critical moment, his habitual calm kept him steady.
As the coffin delved deeper, violent fluctuations erupted—the same sonic attacks that had shattered the rocks earlier. They were not targeted, but possessed immense destructive power. Had the Xueqi Coffin not been so durable, Qin Feng would have been reduced to dust long ago.
The roaring continued, the coffin advanced, and Qin Feng waited for his chance.
Just as the coffin drew near the seven mysterious stone eggs, the mysterious low growls suddenly ceased.
"Now!"
Qin Feng and the Heavenly Demon acted in perfect sync. As the roaring stopped, the coffin lid flew open. Qin Feng stood up abruptly, his right hand grasping the air, forming a giant spectral hand that lunged directly toward the giant white egg.
Qin Feng was fast, but at that same moment, a thunderous roar erupted from the depths of the abyss.
Plans never keep up with changes!
In an instant, the space froze. Not only was Qin Feng’s giant hand shattered, but he felt his own movements slow to a crawl, as if he were a snail.
"Oh no!" Cold sweat instantly broke out on Qin Feng’s forehead.
