Chapter 094: A Figure of Great Influence
“Hmph! I lose my appetite just looking at that shameless little minx who goes around seducing men! I’m not eating!” Murong Yueyin slammed her chopsticks onto the table and rose from the cafeteria.
“Miss, wait for me!” Seeing Murong Yueyin leave, Qiuyue shot Xin Lang a fierce glare, then hurried after her.
When Hu Qingqing saw that Murong Yueyin had gone, she did not leave. Instead, she sat down and gave Xin Lang a coquettish look. “Handsome, I chased Murong Yueyin off for you. How are you going to thank me?”
“Uh...” Xin Lang nearly toppled over from the force of that flirtatious glance. This Hu Qingqing was way too bold.
Without waiting for him to answer, Hu Qingqing went on, “Forget treating me to a meal. Let’s keep it simple and go on a date tonight.”
“What!” Xin Lang and everyone else in the cafeteria were stunned.
“Hu Qingqing, one of the four campus belles, actually asked that guy out herself!” Student A cried.
This was far more explosive than Murong Yueyin’s veiled pursuit a moment ago.
Hu Qingqing reached out, lifted Xin Lang’s identity badge, and glanced at it. Then she stood up and said to him, “I’ve memorized your number. It’s settled, then. Come find me in Dormitory 2046 for girls tonight. Don’t keep me waiting.”
Before leaving, she even blinked those large eyes of hers and gave Xin Lang another teasing glance.
“Meeting in Dormitory 2046 tonight, don’t keep me waiting... This definitely isn’t just a simple date!” Student B said.
Everyone around them looked at Xin Lang differently now. Countless jealous, envious, and resentful gazes shot toward him. It would have been one thing if only Murong Yueyin had taken an interest in him, but now Hu Qingqing had appeared too, and she was even inviting him to her dormitory for a date. The male students were practically going insane with envy.
After Murong Yueyin and Hu Qingqing had stirred things up like that, Xin Lang had no appetite left for lunch. He got up and walked out of the cafeteria.
“Xin Lang, stop right there, you little punk!” someone suddenly bellowed from beside him.
Xin Lang turned, and a man whose face was wrapped in bandages and impossible to make out charged at him.
“Uh... brother, and you are?” Xin Lang asked, looking at the newcomer.
“You don’t recognize me anymore?” the man shouted.
“Hmm?” Xin Lang studied his face carefully, then shook his head. “You’ve wrapped your face up like a sandbag. Even if I’d seen you before, I wouldn’t know who you are now.”
“I’m Ling Feng!” the man said angrily. “Have you already forgotten how you ambushed me on the main stage of the nineteenth combat hall this morning?”
“Uh... did I ambush you? I remember the referee already called the start of the match,” Xin Lang replied.
“But... but...” Ling Feng was left speechless by Xin Lang’s words. “I wasn’t ready yet, and then you suddenly attacked. So this morning doesn’t count. Challenge me again this afternoon!”
“Sure, that’s fine. As long as the academy agrees, I won’t complain about using you to earn points,” Xin Lang said with a smile.
“All right, you wait. I’m going to find the martial instructor in charge of us bronze-rank students and submit a request!” With that, Ling Feng stormed off again.
Xin Lang rather hoped Ling Feng would get his request approved, so he could earn a few more points.
When Student A saw Ling Feng challenging Xin Lang, he exclaimed, “Isn’t that Ling Feng? Then what he just said means... the person who one-shotted Ling Feng this morning was this Xin Lang?”
“Damn, so the one who swept through nineteen rotating champions in a row this morning was him!” Student B cried.
“No wonder Murong Yueyin, with her gold-rank status, took a liking to this guy. So this new student is that strong!” Student C said.
“I get it now!” Student A shouted. “Even though Xin Lang is only a new student, he may already have the strength of a gold-rank student. Otherwise, why would two prodigies from the Gold Roll, Murong Yueyin and Hu Qingqing, be fighting over him?”
“Damn!” Student C swore again. “A new student with master-level strength? We’d better stay far away from him.”
“Exactly! Gold-rank students with master-level strength aren’t scary, because they wouldn’t stoop to challenging us at a lower rank. But a bronze-rank student with master-level strength is terrifying. If he decides to challenge us, we’re done for!” Student B said, and then vanished into the crowd at once.
Xin Lang’s hearing was exceptional, and before entering the cafeteria he had already overheard the conversation among those students. “Students on the Gold Roll actually have master-level strength. Once my meridians are repaired, I’ll be able to challenge them!”
In the afternoon, Xin Lang first made his way to Combat Hall No. 20. Today, the twenty rotating champions had been reduced to just this one remaining hall.
When he arrived at Combat Hall No. 20, he discovered that it was already crowded with people.
“How can there be so many?” Xin Lang muttered in surprise.
“Boss, over here!” Gu Pangzi shouted, waving from beneath the main battle stage.
Xin Lang saw that Gu Pangzi, Qian Baidu, and Hong Jingang were all there.
He walked up to the three of them and asked, “What’s going on? Why are there so many people in Combat Hall No. 20?”
This morning, Xin Lang had passed through nineteen bronze-rank combat halls, and none of them had even half as many people as this one.
Hearing that, Gu Pangzi grinned. “Why else would Combat Hall No. 20 be packed like this, if not because of you, Boss?”
“Because of me?” Xin Lang asked, confused.
“Yeah! Boss, don’t you know you’re already the talk of the Martial Arts Academy?” Gu Pangzi said with a wicked grin. “Rumor has it that a mysterious new student not only swept through nineteen bronze-rank halls in a single morning, but also caused the two gold-rank campus belles to fight over him in the cafeteria. Word is they even ended up bloodied and battered!”
“Seriously?” Xin Lang had never expected the story to spread so quickly, or to become so wildly distorted.
“Boss, come on, tell me how you managed to seduce two gold-rank campus belles at once,” Gu Pangzi said with a lewd smile.
“Get lost,” Xin Lang said, kicking Gu Pangzi. “I’m not interested in those little girls.”
“What, no way! I heard the four campus belles of the Martial Arts Academy are quite a bit older than Meng Chuchu!” Gu Pangzi stared at Xin Lang’s expression and added, “Could it be that Boss has a special taste and likes the legendary mature women?”
Xin Lang wanted nothing more than to strangle that obscene fatso. “Get—”
He was just about to kick again when Qian Baidu suddenly made his move. Sneaking up behind Gu Pangzi, he struck first with a blow to the head, knocking him to the ground, then followed it with a vicious round of kicks.
“Boss, let me handle him for you!” Qian Baidu said as he kicked. “Fatty, you should be thanking me. If Boss had done it himself, you’d be in even worse shape!”
