Chapter 048: The Super Weapon (Third Update)

Beside the Eight Furnace, there was another list that could be expanded—a forging menu. Xin Lang tapped it, and the list instantly unfolded, revealing two subcategories: Weapons and Equipment.

Xin Lang browsed through them. The weapons in the upgrade device were the same as those he had studied at the Martial Arts Academy. Both weapons and equipment were divided into several grades: Common, Earth, Sky, and Saint, each grade further split into ten tiers.

“So many weapons and pieces of equipment—let’s see if there’s anything suitable for me!” Xin Lang began to search the list carefully.

He opened the blade category; hundreds of blade-shaped weapons appeared. “Seriously? Kitchen knives and fruit knives are listed as weapons?” Xin Lang was taken aback by the first few entries.

He clicked on the fruit knife, and its detailed information popped up.

“If I had some pig iron right now, forging one of these would be perfect for chopping trees and clearing a path,” Xin Lang mused.

He looked at several more blades. The higher their grade, the more refined the materials required, and the greater the experience point cost.

Having finished with blades, Xin Lang examined the equipment section. There, he discovered a piece of soft armor made from golden silkworm thread.

Grade: Earth, Sixth Tier Equipment.
Functions: Provides one hundred percent protection against all physical attacks from weapons below Earth, Sixth Tier; can nullify six layers of hidden force.

“This Golden Silkworm Inner Armor is excellent. When I leave the mountain, I must buy some golden silkworm thread and forge one for myself!” Xin Lang resolved.

“Hm?” As he exited the forging list, he noticed another purchase menu at the end: “Super Weapon Equipment Zone! What is this?”

Xin Lang stared at a bizarre white metallic weapon inside. “Desert Eagle? This thing is called an Eagle, but it clearly can’t fly. What kind of super weapon is this?”

He saw a pile of unfamiliar weapons: Gatling machine gun, sniper rifle, laser sword...

“Hm, this Magnetic Flying Sword at least resembles a weapon,” Xin Lang noted, spotting a sword-shaped item.

He saw many wondrous pieces of equipment in the equipment zone.

Functions: Intelligent upgrades, automatic defense, increased combat power—full intelligence armor.
Purchase cost: 5000 experience points.

The super weapons and equipment in the purchase zone amazed Xin Lang. He was even tempted to unlock the “Beast Zone,” but after opening the “Weapon Equipment Zone” in the upgrade device, he had only 95 experience points left. Moreover, his current level was too low, so he decided to postpone unlocking the Beast Zone.

Xin Lang dug a pit and buried Ouyang Unfaithful’s corpse. He bowed to the grave, saying, “My mastery of hidden force is entirely thanks to your selfless sacrifice. I’m burying you here rather than leaving you exposed in the wild; consider it my repayment.”

Had Ouyang Unfaithful climbed out of the pit and heard Xin Lang’s words, he would surely have died of rage a second time!

With Ouyang Unfaithful dealt with and his hidden force mastered, Xin Lang was in high spirits. He practiced the ten hidden force exertion methods required by the upgrade device’s daily tasks while searching for a path through the mountain.

Bang! Xin Lang kicked several times, shattering a large boulder with hidden force from his foot.

The upgrade device flashed an information prompt. Xin Lang rejoiced, “Gained another experience point!”

As he proceeded, he destroyed countless ancient trees and massive stones, accumulating five or six more experience points.

“I can now exert hidden force through fists, feet, and elbows, but not yet through my knees,” Xin Lang sighed. “It seems unlocking hidden force in my chest and back won’t be easy.”

For ordinary low-level martial artists, mastering hidden force in both feet was already a challenge. But the upgrade device’s daily task diagrams were incredibly detailed, as if etched into Xin Lang’s mind, enabling his rapid progress.

Xin Lang wandered the forest for two days without finding a way out. Though he managed to channel hidden force through his knees, his chest and back remained untrained.

At last, as the sun set, Xin Lang discovered a small stream in the mountains!

He remembered the pool where the upgrade device had struck him. That pool was fed by a stream—possibly this very one. Following the stream, he stood a good chance of finding the Blue Silver Grass he needed.

Xin Lang drank from the stream, washed his face, and rested by its bank, eating steamed buns.

He summoned the upgrade device’s task area and located the daily tasks, opening the demonstration actions for hidden force exertion. He studied the chest and back techniques with great care.

A soft breeze drifted by, carrying a faint scent of blood.

Absorbed in his meal and his study, Xin Lang failed to notice the subtle tang in the air.

When the leaves began to rustle, Xin Lang suddenly sensed imminent danger.

He exited the upgrade device interface and saw himself surrounded by pairs of green-glowing eyes.

“A pack of wolves!” Xin Lang estimated at least twenty hungry wild wolves!

At that moment, the upgrade device issued a task prompt: “Eight-star side quest: Repel the wolf pack and eliminate the wolf king. Reward: 40 experience points!”
