Chapter 115: A Special Day Today
Xin Lang was no expert, but he needed experts to challenge him so he could farm experience points.
After cultivating in his dormitory for three days and refining a vast amount of primordial energy, Xin Lang could now execute tenth-level Heaven-tier martial arts without any issue. Through these three days of effort, he had essentially mastered the ability to multitask, refining energy while simultaneously circulating it through his meridians. In this time, his Leveling Device had accumulated another 300 experience points, bringing his total to over 400.
Xin Lang felt it was time to head out. Having been hidden away for so long, he figured there must be plenty of people eager to help him farm points.
He first went to the Bronze-tier Battle Hall. It was currently dominated by Qian Bai-Du, Fatty Gu, and Hong Jin-Gang, who were all imitating Xin Lang’s methods, frantically challenging the hall’s rotation champions and scaring the students who had reached 99 points, preventing them from winning that final point.
The students of the Martial Arts Academy all knew Xin Lang by now. Upon seeing him, they immediately kept their distance, terrified of being associated with him. After strolling for a while, Xin Lang was disappointed to find that no one was looking for trouble; there were no kind souls helping him farm points.
"Sigh! I really miss the days when Qian Bai-Du would come every morning to help me farm experience," Xin Lang lamented as he left the Bronze-tier hall and headed straight for the Gold-tier Battle Hall, thinking, "Surely there must be a Gold-tier student who will pay me some mind!"
To his disappointment, he circled the Gold-tier hall, but no one acknowledged him.
"Damn it, what’s going on? Have all the men in the Martial Arts Academy turned into cowards? Can no one step up like you guys did before?"
Helpless, Xin Lang wandered out of the academy, deciding to try his luck outside.
The moment he stepped past the gates, the academy erupted in chaos. Students scurried about, with one whispering to another, "Did you hear? Xin Lang has left the campus!"
"Really? That’s great! Who should we sell this information to? Long Zhan-Yi or Ling Feng?" the second student asked.
"Long Zhan-Yi is a martial arts fanatic; he’s not interested in Xin Lang. Sell it to Ling Tian instead; he’s a loyal suitor of Princess Huangfu Huijing!" the first replied.
"Pfft! By the time you finish deliberating, Xin Lang will already be dead! I think we should just bet on whose hands he’ll die in," a third student chimed in.
"I’ll bet a hundred gold coins! Xin Lang will definitely die at the hands of Ling Tian!" the first student declared.
"I bet two hundred! I guess he’ll die at the hands of Princess Huangfu Huijing," the third said.
"Heh, I’ll bet three hundred! I predict the Third Prince, Huangfu Shao-Qi, will capture him and have him sliced to death!" the second added.
Xin Lang had thought no one was looking for him, but in reality, many were simply afraid to violate the academy’s rules. They were waiting for an opportunity; once he was off campus, they could slaughter him without worry.
"Xin Lang!" Not long after he left the gates, someone called out to him.
Xin Lang turned around to see Hu Qing-Qing stepping out of the academy. Her surging, voluptuous bosom, shapely hips, and slender waist created a breathtaking silhouette that made Xin Lang’s blood race.
"Damn, this girl is a natural siren," he thought to himself.
Previously, Xin Lang had kept all beauties at arm’s length, but Hu Qing-Qing had gifted him a Heaven-tier cultivation manual when he needed it most, warming his attitude toward her and placing her in the category of friends.
"Oh, it’s you, Qing-Qing. Did you need something?" Xin Lang asked.
Disregarding the social etiquette between men and women, Hu Qing-Qing grabbed him, looking nervous. "Where are you going? Come back to the academy with me immediately!"
"Uh... why? I just came out!" Xin Lang asked, confused.
"No! Immediately, right now, come back to the academy!" she urged anxiously. "You have no idea how many people you offended with your words the other day. They’ve all been waiting for you to step off campus so they can teach you a lesson!"
"Oh, is that so?" Xin Lang said nonchalantly. "Since they want to come and kowtow to admit their mistakes, how could I deny them the chance? If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going. I’ve been in Xia Capital for so long and haven’t had a proper look around yet."
As he moved to leave, Hu Qing-Qing blocked his path, irritated. "I give up on you! You’re not familiar with the city. If you’re going to wander around, I’ll go with you!"
"Uh... that might not be convenient," Xin Lang said. Although he considered her a friend, he didn't want to get too close, as his heart was occupied by Hong Xiu.
"Pfft, I don't care, so why are you making such a fuss?" Hu Qing-Qing rolled her eyes.
Xin Lang wiped a bead of sweat from his brow. A beautiful woman cursing had a unique charm—especially one as busty as Hu Qing-Qing, which made his heart race and his body react in ways he couldn't control. Knowing she meant well, he silently accepted her company.
"Xin Lang!" Suddenly, another sharp cry came from within the academy gates.
Just as they were about to leave, they were stopped again. Xin Lang had been hoping for trouble to farm experience, but Hu Qing-Qing was acting as his bodyguard under the guise of a guide. Now, they were intercepted by another beauty—Murong Yue-Yin.
"Student Murong, is there something you need?" Xin Lang asked.
Ignoring him, Murong Yue-Yin turned to Hu Qing-Qing with an indignant tone. "Hu Qing-Qing, what do you think you’re doing? Taking Xin Lang out of the academy—are you trying to get him killed?"
Seeing Murong Yue-Yin’s condescending tone, Hu Qing-Qing retorted, "If you’re so capable, why don't you drag him back to the academy yourself? I won't stop you!"
Murong Yue-Yin grabbed Xin Lang’s arm. "Come on, back to the academy!"
Xin Lang felt a small flicker of emotion. "I didn't expect Murong Yue-Yin to care about me this much."
He had been wary of her before, knowing she had an agenda, but this small detail convinced him she had no malicious intent and was genuinely concerned. He gently pulled his arm away. "I wanted to go out for a stroll, and since I don't know the way, Student Qing-Qing is acting as my guide."
"Oh..." Murong Yue-Yin’s eyes darted around. Seeing Hu Qing-Qing’s smug expression, she immediately said, "I’m not from the capital and I’m not familiar with it either. I’ve always wanted to see the sights, so I’ll trouble you to act as my guide as well, Qing-Qing!"
Under normal circumstances, Hu Qing-Qing would never let her tag along, but today was special; one more person meant more safety for Xin Lang.
"Fine, you can come," Hu Qing-Qing said, unwilling to lose, "but where we go is up to Xin Lang!"
"No problem!" Murong Yue-Yin agreed readily, a flash of cunning hidden in her eyes.
