For a moment, the girls remaining in the classroom grew excited and crowded around Sun Xiaoxiao’s desk, pushing Lin Xia to the side.

Watching their frenzy, Lin Xia frowned slightly.

“Yeah, yeah, hurry up and open it.”

The classroom suddenly buzzed with excitement.

Lin Xia glanced at the time; it was about time to go home for lunch. Just then, You Xin came over from the neighboring class and stopped in the hallway to wait for the three of them. Seizing a rare moment of calm, he addressed Zhao and Sun, “Qianqian, Xiaoxiao, it’s time to go eat.”

“All right, all right, everyone will get a copy. I’ll lend it to you once I’m done,” Sun Xiaoxiao, growing impatient with the commotion, raised her hand in surrender. “I’m going to eat now, so disperse already.”

She stuffed the magazine into her backpack, slung the bag over her shoulder, linked arms with Lin Xia waiting nearby, and hurried out of the classroom, with Zhao Qian trailing closely behind.

“What’s got everyone so excited? Look at the girls in your class,” You Xin laughed.

“Ta-da! Look, the latest edition of ‘Drizzle,’ Xiaxia got it,” Sun Xiaoxiao showed off her treasure, flipping through the magazine with delight. “Qing Jie is amazing, getting the newest issue so quickly. Those girls are so jealous.”

Just then, they ran into the girls returning from the bookstore, empty-handed. Seeing this, Sun Xiaoxiao realized the book wasn’t yet available in stores and quickly put the magazine away, almost as if afraid someone would snatch it.

The girl who hadn’t bought the book insisted for a long time that Sun Xiaoxiao lend it to her later. Only after Sun agreed did they finally leave.

“Phew, that was crazy,” Sun Xiaoxiao joked, pretending to wipe sweat from her forehead.

Zhao Qian snorted, “If you’d been more composed, this wouldn’t have happened. Anyway, I’m not lending my book to them.”

Now that Liuyan had started writing in classical style, their speech had unconsciously become more refined, somewhat reminiscent of the days when “Empresses in the Palace” was a hit and its elegant style spread across the internet.

From the moment Sun Xiaoxiao shouted that out in the morning, Zhao Qian knew trouble was coming. Before anyone reacted, she quickly hid her own copy in her drawer, narrowly escaping disaster.

She always cherished her books. She knew that once the magazine was lent out, no matter how careful the borrower, some damage was inevitable.

Lin Xia smiled, “It’s not your fault, Xiaoxiao. I was wrong too—I shouldn’t have given the book to you all in the classroom.” She then shifted the topic to the content of the new magazine.

Watching their lively discussion, Lin Xia gazed into the distance, narrowing her eyes.

It was nearly September, yet the midday sun still blazed fiercely, shining straight down and making everyone feel inexplicably restless.

Liuyan: Actually, I don’t believe I’ve settled into any one style or that I’m limited to writing about youth. Learning is endless. I’ve always thought of writers like actors—they must embrace different roles and constantly challenge themselves. As a writer, one must continually gather material from life and try various genres in hopes of creating the work they’re most satisfied with.

Meow Meow: So you might publish works in different genres in the future?

Liuyan: That’s certainly possible. I want to try every genre.

Meow Meow: That’s great news for readers! I’m one of your loyal fans. Regarding “Scheming to Rule the World,” would you say it leans more toward romance or strategy? We’ve been flooded with letters asking for more scenes featuring the male lead, Zhu Di.

Liuyan: Oh, that’s quite an exaggeration. This book, as its title suggests, focuses mainly on strategy, but it’s a different kind of strategy with two storylines—one following the heroine, the other the hero. As the saying goes: men conquer the world, while women conquer men. The heroine conquers the hero and, in doing so, gains the world. Meanwhile, the hero falls in love with the heroine as he battles to rule the land.

Meow Meow: Wow, from what you say, the story only gets more exciting.

Liuyan: Yes, it just keeps getting better.

Meow Meow: Recently, readers have requested a book signing event after “Scheming to Rule the World” is published. They absolutely love the book and, of course, you as well.

Liuyan: I’m grateful for the readers’ love and support. But writing is like a hen laying eggs—we enjoy the eggs, so why must we see the hen that laid them?

Meow Meow: So it seems you don’t plan to meet your fans anytime soon?

Liuyan: Not in the near future.
