Chapter Sixty-Seven: Midnight Tales from the Women's Restroom
When Mu You opened his eyes again, evening had already fallen.
“Damn it, what time is it now?!”
He sprang up from the bed in a flash, only to discover another body lying beside him.
What the hell? Was this an out-of-body experience? Had he died again? Could the nectar from the Corpse-Scented Snow Lotus be poisonous?
Smack!
Without hesitation, Mu You slapped himself hard across the face. The scorching pain reminded him that he was very much alive.
Since nothing was wrong with him and Dongguan had left long ago, how did this person beneath him appear?
Oh God, Mu You retreated swiftly. Could he have lost consciousness and ended up with some dead convict during that time?
What terrified Mu You even more was that as he pulled away, the person beneath him moved with him, light as a feather, never leaving his side. On closer inspection, it was a human skin.
He had shed his skin while sleeping these past few hours!
Mu You immediately stripped off everything. The situation below was identical. He dashed into the bathroom and stared at the mirror, stunned.
The young man reflected there—was it still him? His skin, bones, even muscles had all been renewed, brimming with the vibrant energy of a bodybuilder. His frame was sturdier and more rounded, and his skin, under the dim light, glowed like warm jade, taut and resilient to the touch.
Overjoyed, Mu You examined his body in detail. It wasn’t just the surface; closing his eyes, he could sense every drop of blood within, intricately linked to his spirit. This transformation was thorough, a true rebirth, completely integrating the awakened powers of the Spirit-Hunter into himself.
He casually bit his thumb. The blood blossomed, swirling into a six-petaled lotus that hovered gracefully in his palm. As the crimson lotus faded, its petals transformed into smaller lotuses, blooming again mid-air, each exquisitely vivid and lifelike.
Impressive, the three hundred thousand wasn’t spent in vain. With his current control over blood, facing someone as old and stubborn as Madam Xiao, he could finish her off in an instant.
Though Mu You trusted Dongguan’s words, he had confidence in his own strength. He condensed the six lotuses back into one and let it float inside the bathroom sink. Watching the brilliant lotus hover quietly above the water, he pondered Dongguan’s warning: if even his berserk self wasn’t a match for an S-class, just how powerful were they?
Perhaps not earth-shattering, but at the very least, any confrontation would be devastating to the Convict’s Paradise. No one could believe that trouble hadn’t broken out before, yet the entire Convict’s Paradise remained in an enigmatic, absolute peace. This was what unsettled Mu You most.
Mo Han, you old dog, how many secrets are hidden in your Convict’s Paradise? How many monsters are you raising? What experiments are you conducting? How many people in this world are enduring suffering like mine… I, Mu You, bear this enmity that cannot be erased—when will I finally achieve my goal?
He plunged the red lotus into the water. The lotus, after being restrained to its utmost, suddenly blossomed, but just as it was about to explode, Mu You gripped it tightly. The scarlet-gold lines and surging heat solidified in his palm, and with a roar, he transformed it back into a stunning red lotus, which slowly rose from the water, elegant and serene.
Mu You gasped for breath, the sudden expansion and contraction of energy leaving him drained, yet the overwhelming anger and resentment were suppressed. Sweat dripped from his nose, passing through the central hole of the lotus and dissolving into the water.
Seeing this, Mu You paused. When he had cast the ‘Blazing Silence: Red Lotus’ earlier, something felt off. The blood lotus was beautiful, but why did it seem to be missing something?
The lotus heart and stamen!
The red lotus lacked its heart. No matter how beautiful, it missed the lifelike spirit of a masterpiece.
Mu You tried again, conjuring another red lotus. The result was the same. He dissolved it back into blood, attempting to form a stamen, embedding it into the lotus. Scarlet-gold lines began to spread from the base of the petals, merging with the blood stamen, showing signs of integration.
There was hope!
Mu You’s eyes lit up. Carefully, he guided the final fusion of petals and stamen.
Yet, just as a true red lotus was about to appear, the energy backlashed as if repelled, and the flower instantly dissolved into blood, merging with the water.
Mu You was left dumbfounded, utterly confused.
It had been fine a moment ago—why did it suddenly collapse?
He wanted to investigate, but decided against it. He didn’t want to reveal any information to the Convict’s Paradise. Moreover, it was already eleven thirty, and in half an hour An Ruxiang and the others would succumb to the poison.
Mu You turned on the shower to wash off the skin flakes, dialing Xu Chen’s number.
“Hello… who is this?” came Xu’s groggy, irritable voice.
Mu You rolled his eyes. Was this guy so oblivious that he hadn’t noticed anything unusual despite being on the brink of death?
Before Mu You could reply, the voice on the other end shifted to a tense, nervous tone.
“Oh, sorry, sorry. Boss Mu, I was having a nightmare—suddenly woke up and missed the caller ID. Boss, is there something you need at this hour?”
“Yes.”
Mu You replied bluntly.
“…What… ah…” Xu Chen asked, puzzled.
“Take a guess.”
“I… I…” Xu Chen stammered, unable to form a sentence. Two men calling each other in the middle of the night, one of them showering and the other being the absolute leader—anyone would feel uneasy.
“Are you asking me to scrub your back, or… or… something else… Please, boss, I really can’t do that…”
Xu Chen grew increasingly flustered, his rambling embarrassing Mu You, who quickly cut him off.
“Enough. Listen to me: call An Ruxiang, He Jing, and Xuan Yao immediately. They’re women and slower to react—use any method necessary to wake them and get them out. Also, find a hidden spot in Building A where they can meet without being noticed. They need to get there within ten minutes.”
“Wow! Got it, got it.” Xu Chen’s tone changed instantly, breaking into a lewd laugh, then suddenly shifting: “But boss, He Jing might still be attractive, but she’s pretty old. Including her is a bit… off-putting, isn’t it… Hehe…”
His laughter grew ever more vulgar.
Mu You’s forehead darkened. “Enough nonsense. Get moving, and you go too. Call Hu Lei as well—men dress faster than women. Everyone must gather by eleven fifty!”
Without waiting for more, Mu You hung up, baffled by how Xu Chen had survived this long.
Twenty minutes later.
The dark lines on Mu You’s forehead had multiplied beyond count.
He kept his head down, breathing hard to steady his nerves.
Xu Chen, seeing this, put on a big-brotherly grin.
“Boss Mu, first time, right? Hehe. Relax, it’s always like this. But seriously, thanks for calling me in on this—really decent of you. But why did you invite Hu Lei? His daughter is here! Does that mean…”
Xu Chen’s thoughts spun wild as he covered his mouth, eyes widening. My God—could Hu Lei really have such twisted tastes?
Before Xu Chen could concoct something even more depraved, Mu You smacked him hard on the back of the neck, nearly losing his sanity.
“This is your idea of a meeting spot?!”
He pointed to the entrance’s obvious sign, featuring a little girl in a red dress.
“It’s late, and I’m hungry—fine, you picked the cafeteria. But the cafeteria restroom? I’d have tolerated that. But for God’s sake, use your brain—this is the women’s restroom!”
