He didn’t know how much time had passed before he awoke, feeling utterly refreshed and energized.

Looking at his attributes, Chu Fan felt that this inheritance, automatically matched by the Key of Inheritance, was terrifyingly powerful.

But he also quickly noticed the greatest limitation: to achieve the next terrifying leap in power, he had to raise all his basic attributes to a certain standard.

Even after completing a hell-difficulty mission and earning an A+ rating, he’d only gained six attribute points—twice the usual reward. That meant an A+ rating usually only gave two points. Higher ratings likely granted more.

However, without the Devourer talent, he would have had to risk his life countless times to raise all five basic attributes to 30 and unlock the next awakening skill.

From the description of Awakening Skill 2, it was obvious that the process of awakening again would likely be as agonizing as the previous one.

Recalling that sensation, Chu Fan shivered involuntarily.

Having his body torn apart by violent energy every second, only to be repaired and reassembled—it was not something he wished to experience again.

“Chosen Paradise, do you offer a service to block pain perception?”

“Even if it costs more Chosen Coins, I don’t mind,” Chu Fan asked, looking hopefully at the empty room.

Chosen Paradise’s answer was simple and direct, dousing the flame of hope in Chu Fan’s heart like a bucket of cold water.

Hearing that he could directly increase his attributes, Chu Fan gave it a try.

As he focused, a blue-glowing sphere about a meter across appeared before him in the once empty room.

Chu Fan reached out to touch it, and his status panel appeared in his vision.

The five basic attributes—Strength, Agility, Intelligence, Constitution, Spirit—were all clearly labeled, with explanations. Charm was a special attribute and could also be increased directly. Luck, however, was marked as unavailable for direct enhancement.

He had six attribute points to spend.

Chu Fan considered his future direction.

He definitely needed to raise all five basic attributes to 30, so each was important, though priorities differed.

Strength and Agility directly affected his combat power and were high priorities.

To use Genesis of Fusion and comprehensively boost his power, he’d need more mana—so raising Intelligence was also highly important.

As for Constitution, since Elementalization granted immunity to normal physical attacks, it wasn’t as urgent.

Spirit would improve his mental resistance and control over his abilities. Raising it early would help him better master his flame skills.

After some thought, Chu Fan allocated two points to Strength, two to Intelligence, one to Agility, and one to Spirit.

Just as he was about to confirm, a thought struck him. He removed the other allocations, leaving only one point in Agility.

A surge of power flooded his body, making him grunt in pain, but the sensation faded after just five seconds.

He experimented further, adding two points to Strength at once. This time, the pain lasted ten seconds.

It hurt, but compared to the agony of awakening his inheritance, it was still bearable.

Having confirmed his suspicions, he distributed the remaining three points—two to Intelligence and one to Spirit.

A few dozen seconds later.
