Chapter Eighty-Four: Slaying the Spirit Fox in Fury
“Damn it, this woman is either an elite or a hidden class. Xiangsi, be careful!” Sword of the City shouted urgently as soon as he saw the fiery glow of magic.
Drunken Longing’s expression changed slightly. She immediately interrupted the incantation for Thunderfall, swung her staff, and prepared to use Flash. Flash was a signature evasive skill for full-fledged Elemental Mages, allowing them to move up to fifteen yards away and dodge most attacks.
A sly smile curled at the corner of Spirit Fox Divine Moon’s lips. “You realize it now? Too late.”
As soon as her words fell, Spirit Fox Divine Moon’s staff pointed sharply at Drunken Longing, and she chanted softly, “Immobilize.”
“Ding! Player Drunken Longing has been struck by player Spirit Fox Divine Moon’s Immobilization. Unable to move for 3 seconds.”
The faces of Sword of the City and the others turned ashen, but before they could react, the blazing red magic descended upon Drunken Longing.
Holy Flame! –462!
Nearly five hundred damage points instantly left Drunken Longing on the brink of death. If she hadn’t just picked up a bronze necklace that boosted her constitution in the last dungeon, she would have been finished already.
“Second Sister!” Ling Yue and the others cried out anxiously. In their panic, over a dozen girls drew their weapons again. Sword of the City’s hand, gripping his sword hilt, trembled. Dozens of Spirit Fox members stepped forward as well, and the atmosphere instantly became electric, the tension of battle ready to snap.
“What? Are you planning a gang fight?” Spirit Fox Divine Moon laughed charmingly. “Don’t say I’m bullying—”
“Spirit Fox Divine Moon!”
A thunderous roar exploded in everyone’s ears, so full of fury that it momentarily froze all movement. Spirit Fox Divine Moon’s words were cut off as she looked toward the source of the voice. Striding out of the dungeon’s portal was a Shadow Priest cloaked in black, followed by more than a dozen players wearing Dragon Soar guild tags.
“It’s Night!” Left Handed Legend shouted, hatred burning in his eyes.
Spirit Fox Divine Moon hesitated for a second. She had indeed come here looking for trouble with Ye Chen, but she couldn’t fathom why he would suddenly roar at her with such rage—wasn’t she the one who’d suffered last time? Just as she was about to say something, her gaze froze: she had seen the black flames flickering atop Ye Chen’s staff.
“Die!”
With Ye Chen’s furious shout, the onlookers watched in amazement as the Shadow Priest, who had appeared out of nowhere, launched a bold attack on the female Holy Priest, suspected to be a hidden class. A black fireball screamed straight for her chest.
The sudden turn of events left everyone momentarily stunned, even the dozens of Spirit Fox members forgetting to protect their captain. No one noticed the joy that flashed across Qing Yu and his companions’ faces the moment Ye Chen appeared.
Bang! –736!
A staggering amount of damage exploded above Spirit Fox Divine Moon’s head, instantly reducing the Holy Priest, with her formidable 800 health points, to a sliver of life. Her face turned deathly pale as she shrieked, scrambling backward while shouting, “Protect me! Stop him!”
Her panicked shriek jolted the Spirit Fox members back to their senses, and they rushed to shield their embattled captain.
“With trash like you, how dare you strut around? What a joke!” Ye Chen sneered, his staff aimed at Spirit Fox Divine Moon as she tried to hide in the crowd.
Confusion.
Spirit Fox Divine Moon’s movements became erratic, her body running wildly out of her control, even turning around and bursting out from the crowd again. Despair flooded her face as she glared venomously at Ye Chen, as if she wanted to tear a piece of flesh from him.
Deadly Poison.
With a cold chuckle, Ye Chen cast the instant spell, slapping it onto Spirit Fox Divine Moon.
–10, –10, –10...
“Ye Chen! Ye Chen! Ye Chen! I’ll never let this go!” With her HP dropping below fifty and her body still not under her control, Spirit Fox Divine Moon shrieked at Ye Chen, her previously gentle eyes now wild and bloodshot, as if she wanted to eat his flesh and drink his blood.
“Trash like you—what does it matter how many you bring?” Ye Chen’s face was ice as he replied. Every dragon has its reverse scale, and touching it brings wrath. The women from the studio, the Drunken Longing who saved his life—these were Ye Chen’s reverse scale. The moment he stepped out of the dungeon and saw Drunken Longing almost killed by Spirit Fox Divine Moon, he knew he had to act, or he wouldn’t be Ye Chen.
Spirit Fox Divine Moon regained control, but she barely managed to pull a potion from her bag before another “–10” damage tick claimed her life, leaving behind only a lifeless corpse.
The entire place was stunned. Everyone had witnessed the formidable power of Spirit Fox Divine Moon, suspected to be a hidden class. Yet this powerful Holy Priest, with eight hundred health and strong magic, was nearly killed in an instant, unable even to fight back.
For a moment, all eyes turned to Ye Chen, filled with awe and respect.
Thief Never Walks Alone and Dragon Soar Starbreaker exchanged glances, both with a hint of bitterness. They knew well the extent of Ye Chen’s power, so it was no surprise he could kill Spirit Fox Divine Moon in a flash. But this meant today’s troubles wouldn’t end easily; Spirit Fox’s strength was no secret, and even Dragon Soar was wary of them.
“What should we do?” Dragon Soar Starbreaker whispered to Thief Never Walks Alone, eyeing the dozens of Spirit Fox players gathering menacingly.
“What do we do? We fight!” Thief Never Walks Alone hesitated only for a moment, but when his gaze settled on Ye Chen’s back, that hesitation vanished. He whispered back, “With a master like Night Brother, so what if Spirit Fox comes for us? In Lie Mountain City, who do we fear?”
“But they have a lot of people. We might suffer heavy losses if it comes to a fight.” Dragon Soar Starbreaker hesitated. These were his own men, after all.
Thief Never Walks Alone shot him a glance. “A helping hand in times of need—that’s priceless. So what if we lose a level? Think long term.”
Dragon Soar Starbreaker nodded, waving his hand lightly to the Triad members behind him. “Get ready for battle.”
“Let’s do it!” “Crush them!” “Anyone who’s Night Brother’s enemy is our enemy! Today, we’ll show those Spirit Fox girls just how tough Dragon Soar’s men really are!”
Dragon Soar Mad Bull and the others were already itching for a fight. They had none of the higher-ups’ worries. In their eyes, Ye Chen had brought them real benefits—he was a true brother, someone worth fighting for. Level loss? These battle maniacs never cared about that. Dragon Soar was huge, the strongest in Lie Mountain City. It had been a long time since they’d found a worthy opponent...
