Chapter 58: Another Battle with the Fierce Tiger
“Attack, follow me! Let’s wipe out this bastard!” Fierce Tiger Roar bellowed furiously, his longsword already crackling with electricity, a clear sign that he was about to unleash the Triple Thunder Slash.
Ye Chen remembered all too well the swordsman’s Triple Thunder Slash; he dared not neglect it. He began chanting spells while retreating, but his movement speed was painfully slow during casting, and the distance between them was closing relentlessly.
Boom! -705. The first Black Fireball struck Fierce Tiger Roar.
Ye Chen’s expression darkened as he watched the damage numbers and Fierce Tiger Roar’s health bar. This guy had incredibly high defense and vitality; Ye Chen’s Black Fireball barely managed to deal base damage, and his health only dropped by a third. Clearly, his newly purchased rare equipment was excellent, probably all focused on constitution—otherwise, his vitality couldn’t possibly exceed 2000.
In the blink of an eye, Fierce Tiger Roar was in front of Ye Chen. The electrified sword flashed with a fierce assault, giving Ye Chen no chance to dodge. First strike, second, third—three consecutive hits!
-112, -123, -108.
After the three strikes, Ye Chen’s face paled slightly. Fortunately, Fierce Tiger Roar hadn’t invested all his points into strength, or Ye Chen would have been killed outright. Even so, his remaining vitality was less than 200.
Boom! -715. The second Black Fireball finally flew from Ye Chen’s staff and struck Fierce Tiger Roar, leaving him with only a third of his health bar. Fierce Tiger Roar’s expression changed; he had no intention of dying alongside Ye Chen. He turned and shouted, “Drizzle, heal me!”
The Saintlight Priest named Fierce Tiger Drizzle hurried forward at his call, already preparing a Healing Spell. Meanwhile, Fierce Tiger Demon Slayer the rogue and Fierce Tiger Tyrannosaurus the berserker joined in.
Seeing this, Ye Chen was alarmed. Dealing with Fierce Tiger Roar alone was hard enough; facing the whole group head-on would be suicide. He immediately interrupted his casting and darted toward the Saintlight Priest.
Thanks to the Ghost Elixir’s effect, Ye Chen moved extremely fast, so Fierce Tiger Roar’s group couldn’t stop him. With a few swift movements, he arrived before Fierce Tiger Drizzle. The priestess had just raised her hand, about to heal Fierce Tiger Roar. Seeing Ye Chen suddenly appear, her face was filled with panic and her round eyes shimmered with tears. But Ye Chen had no time for mercy; he raised his staff and struck her face without hesitation.
Smack! -327. Instant kill!
Though spell-caster weapons deal half physical damage, it was still enough to instantly kill this low-health, low-defense priestess.
“Damn you, Nightfall, you bastard!” Fierce Tiger Roar cursed furiously as the priestess turned into a beam of white light, and Ye Chen’s name turned red.
“How dare you kill Drizzle! We’ll fight you to the death!”
The death of their teammate enraged Fierce Tiger Demon Slayer and Fierce Tiger Tyrannosaurus. They shouted in unison, brandishing their weapons as they charged at Ye Chen with Fierce Tiger Roar.
Seizing the moment as they rushed forward, Ye Chen quickly cast a Dark Healing Spell on himself, restoring over two hundred vitality. Fierce Tiger Roar was also gulping down health potions as he ran, but their effects were inferior—after a while, he recovered only a few dozen points.
“Tyrannosaurus, cover me!” Fierce Tiger Roar was frightened to see Ye Chen chanting the Black Fireball spell again. He instantly ducked behind the burly berserker, preventing Ye Chen from targeting him.
“This guy’s finally learned to be clever!” Ye Chen cursed inwardly, forced to change his target. He launched a Black Fireball at the rogue charging in front.
The rogue tried to sidestep but failed, got hit by the Black Fireball, and was sent back to the city for free.
Fierce Tiger Roar and Fierce Tiger Tyrannosaurus closed in. Fierce Tiger Roar activated Triple Thunder Slash once more. Ye Chen, unwilling to risk it, immediately interrupted his spell and flew backward, putting plenty of distance between them before resuming his casting.
Fierce Tiger Roar’s expression turned pitch black. He wasn’t stupid; he realized that with Ye Chen’s speed, he could easily toy with these two melee fighters who lacked charge skills—it was like a cat playing with mice. With that thought, his courage faltered, and he didn’t want to fight anymore. He pulled Fierce Tiger Tyrannosaurus to a stop and called out loudly to Ye Chen, “Nightfall, it’s better to resolve enmity than to create it. We’ll let you go today, and from now on, all grudges between us are settled. Go ahead.”
Shameless! Utterly shameless! They were clearly at a complete disadvantage, yet it sounded as if they were magnanimously letting him off, and even claiming all grudges were settled. Who were they fooling? Did they take him for a three-year-old? Ye Chen had killed dozens of their Fierce Tiger members and twice slain their top rogue. The grudge was already irreconcilable. Even if Fierce Tiger Roar didn’t want revenge, their leader wouldn’t let it go for the sake of their clan’s reputation.
Ye Chen smiled, ignoring Fierce Tiger Roar. He flicked his wrist and sent a Black Fireball at Fierce Tiger Tyrannosaurus, who was blocking his way.
“Damn you, you don’t know when to quit! Tyrannosaurus, follow me!” Seeing Ye Chen refuse to take the bait, Fierce Tiger Roar realized there would be no easy end today. Since he couldn’t outrun Ye Chen, he might as well act with loyalty in front of his subordinates—at least it would sound good afterward. With that thought, Fierce Tiger Roar drew his sword and charged at Ye Chen.
“Roar, I’ve got your back!” Fierce Tiger Tyrannosaurus was deeply moved, striding after Fierce Tiger Roar, and ignoring his own low health, bravely shielding him.
Watching the two brothers perform their act of loyalty, Ye Chen felt speechless. Luckily there was no one around, or everyone would think he was a villain through and through. But since his feud with Fierce Tiger was a matter of life and death, he didn’t mind playing the villain a bit. He swung his Abyss Staff, sending Black Fireballs one after another.
With a boom, Fierce Tiger Tyrannosaurus, charging in front, was sent back to the city for free. Fierce Tiger Roar was now less than fifteen yards from Ye Chen, but obviously, he’d get no closer—Ye Chen’s second Black Fireball was already flying toward him.
“Nightfall, if I don’t kill you back to level zero, I’m not Fierce Tiger Roar! Just you wait!”
Boom! The Black Fireball struck Fierce Tiger Roar, dealing over 750 points of damage and ending his life, his body turning into white light. At the same time, another piece of his new equipment dropped.
Ye Chen went forward to collect the dropped items. He shook his head in disappointment; the spoils were meager. None of them had a red name, so each only dropped one item. The priestess dropped a common item, the rogue and berserker’s gear wasn’t impressive, and only Fierce Tiger Roar and Fierce Tiger Gale each dropped a rare set piece—hardly worth much.
He checked his PK value—now an astonishing 500 points. He’d have to kill at least 500 monsters of the same level to clear his status, so it seemed he wouldn’t be able to return to the city any time soon.
