Chapter 4: That Country Bumpkin Is With President Di
Shen Ci burst out laughing. "Miss Su, you really know how to joke. Everyone knows that Yun Jin Bay is a prized location, a place many can only dream of. Bad luck? Impossible."
Su Qingli's face remained impassive as she finished her last bite, then rose and headed outside.
"It's a treasure, but someone has tainted it. What's this?"
"A mural, a masterpiece. Last year's auction, worth three million."
"But inside it is a soul-summoning talisman. Why is there an old locust tree to the south, and a willow planted in the lake behind? Why is there a Yin-Yang building on the hillside? And why are there black and white twin fish in the main hall?"
As she spoke, Su Qingli shook her head. "Altogether, thirteen places—each one deadly. So tell me, does this place nurture people or destroy them?"
"Rip!"
Shen Ci had already torn open the mural, revealing a blood-red talisman beneath, its symbols incomprehensible yet chilling.
He quickly threw the painting aside.
Su Qingli rubbed her shoulder. "I spent one night here and I ache all over. This place is certainly not simple."
She patted Di Yunshen's shoulder. "Just think back—three years ago, who altered your layout? You'll know the answer."
From the start, Di Yunshen's expression was off, and now the coldness in his eyes seemed to deepen.
"Boss, I'll have someone remove that tree."
Su Qingli looked at the check in her hand. She blew on it and said, "It's easy to invite a god, hard to send one away. You should understand."
She carefully pulled out a piece of black jade and placed it in the fish pond. "Hold a party, as grand as possible, but don't let anyone enter the backyard. Otherwise... Just don't let anyone come to the backyard."
"Alright."
Everything was left for Shen Ci to handle. When evening came, Su Qingli carried her cloth bag and headed toward the backyard.
She didn't notice Yun Shasha and Qiao Ke watching her from not far away.
"Shasha, did I see wrong? Is that Su Qingli? How did she get here?"
"Yunshen instructed that no one is allowed in the backyard. She must have sneaked in and hid there. No one will go to the backyard today, so no one will discover her."
Suddenly, Yun Shasha caught sight of a figure. "Why is Yunshen here too? I think I saw him just now."
"Then hurry up!"
"But we're not supposed to go to the backyard today. What if..."
"This is your chance to be alone together!"
And so, the two rushed inside.
At that moment, Di Yunshen and Su Qingli were in their own private world.
Both sat on the bench. Di Yunshen appeared calm, but inside, he was panicking.
"I heard your fortune-telling is accurate?"
Su Qingli turned instantly. "Very accurate! Do you want a reading? My fortune-telling is expensive!"
"Go ahead."
Su Qingli reached out her hand. He smiled gently and poked her forehead. "I don't have money on me. I'll pay you later."
Su Qingli considered it—he was wealthy and unlikely to cheat her—so she reluctantly agreed. "Alright, I'll make an exception for you."
"If it's good, I'll pay extra."
Su Qingli was greedy for money and feared he'd change his mind, so she quickly opened his palm.
She didn't notice that when her hand touched his, his pupils contracted.
She placed one hand over his palm. "What do you want to know?"
"Marriage."
Her other hand moved swiftly, lips chanting quietly. The further she went, the paler her face became—terrifyingly so.
Because she couldn't see anything.
Unwilling to give up, she tried again. As she was about to try a third time, her phone rang.
If Di Yunshen hadn't withdrawn his hand, she would have continued.
"Hello, Master... I..."
"I know everything, Xiao Li. Stop."
"Master, I can't be wrong. Why..."
"If you keep going, you'll lose your life. It's not that you made a mistake—it's because he's connected to you."
The voice was soft, but in this quiet corner, Di Yunshen heard every word.
His heartbeat grew erratic.
His future—contained her.
He called excitedly into the phone, "Old Qi!"
The elder sighed. "I'll call you tonight."
When the call ended, Su Qingli tried to ask more, but the phone had already been hung up.
Her face was deathly pale from the backlash. Just as she was about to speak, a pair of large hands cupped her cheeks. She looked up and met those deep, enigmatic eyes.
Familiar—strangely familiar.
"Di Yunshen, have we met before?"
He gazed into her eyes, lost in thought. They had met. He was four, she was one; then he was seven, she was four...
But her family changed, her memory lost, and she always followed the elder.
The Su family was far from peaceful now. Thinking of this, Di Yunshen withdrew his hand and his gaze.
Su Qingli assumed he was just taciturn and didn't want to talk to her.
Di Yunshen noticed her misunderstanding and was about to explain when—
"Yunshen! Yunshen! Why are you here?"
Hearing the voice, both Di Yunshen and Su Qingli stood up simultaneously.
"Don't come over!"
But it was already too late.
"Ugh! Why are there so many broken bells? So noisy. Yunshen, you... Yun..."
Seeing Di Yunshen's dark expression, Yun Shasha's words faltered.
"Yunshen, I..."
"Get out!"
Di Yunshen was on the verge of losing it. If Su Qingli weren't there, he would have thrown her out already. He simply didn't want to explode in front of Su Qingli, afraid of frightening her.
Yun Shasha sensed the danger and quickly dragged Qiao Ke away.
Once outside, Qiao Ke exclaimed, "Shasha! Did you see the woman next to President Di?"
"Hmm?"
Clearly, Yun Shasha hadn't noticed.
"Su Qingli! That country bumpkin! How could she be with President Di?"
