Chapter 15: Di Yunshen, Protect Me
Su Qingli laughed as she explained, "Because you were wearing your seatbelt."
Bai Xuan was bewildered. "Who doesn't wear a seatbelt while driving or riding in a car?"
"I don't," she replied.
Bai Xuan climbed out of the bamboo grove, his face and arms scratched in several places. "Why don't you wear one?"
"I forgot," she said.
Bai Xuan was speechless.
Di Yunshen took off his helmet and placed it on Su Qingli's head, then addressed Bai Xuan, "My little Qingli doesn't have a driver's license yet. She's timid. Don't be fierce with her."
Bai Xuan exploded, "Di Yunshen! How can you say that? Timid? She's braver than anyone! She doesn't even hold the steering wheel when driving! Was she waiting for me to do it?"
Su Qingli became nervous at his loud voice. "You’re so loud, you must be right. Next time, I’ll try to shout louder than you."
"Di Yunshen, listen to her! Just listen!"
Su Qingli pouted and turned to Di Yunshen. "Um... how much is this car worth now?"
"About... less than ten million."
Su Qingli immediately shoved the car keys into Bai Xuan’s hand. "Eight million, I’ll sell it to you."
Bai Xuan was stunned. He looked first at Su Qingli, then at Di Yunshen.
"Don’t look at me. I think it’s a great deal. I even gave you a discount of two million," Di Yunshen said.
"Then take it!" Bai Xuan retorted.
Di Yunshen didn’t hesitate; he took the car keys and rode off without sparing Bai Xuan a second glance.
Su Qingli hugged Di Yunshen’s waist, her helmet-clad head knocking against his sturdy back. Thankfully, Di Yunshen was robust enough to withstand the blow.
"Di Yunshen! You took my car keys but haven’t paid me yet!"
"I’ll have Shen Ci transfer it to you when we get home."
The wind from the motorcycle was too loud for Su Qingli to hear clearly.
"What did you say? Transfer it to me? Di Yunshen! You think you can beat me? At the very least, I have your birth chart!"
Di Yunshen looked bewildered, doubting what he’d just said.
"Why aren’t you saying anything? Never mind! Let me calculate."
"Go ahead and calculate."
"What?! So I can do it? What do you mean by 'never mind'?"
Di Yunshen remained silent.
Su Qingli grew irritated, waving her small hands, then suddenly stopped and offered an awkward smile.
"Ah, so you meant you’d transfer it to me when we get home. Alright, no problem!"
Di Yunshen took a deep breath and shook his head helplessly.
After returning to Yun Jin Bay, Di Yunshen went off to the company.
Su Qingli sat alone, ready to binge-watch her drama. Just as she took out her phone, she noticed a message from Lin Qianze, saying he wanted to meet her.
"Could it be that he’s had a change of heart and wants to thank me?" she wondered.
Thinking this, Su Qingli messaged Di Yunshen and headed to the Lin family.
But she was overthinking.
Lin Qianze was furious! If it weren’t for the fact that they were in Yun Jin Bay, he would have barged in and strangled Su Qingli!
On the night after his wedding, he discovered his father had passed away.
He asked about the cause, but Lin’s mother brushed him off.
Lin Qianze questioned her, suspecting Di Yunshen and Su Qingli, but Lin’s mother denied it.
Unconvinced, Lin Qianze secretly consulted the coroner and discovered his father's time of death coincided precisely with Di Yunshen and Su Qingli’s visit!
Thus, Lin Qianze naturally considered her a suspect.
Unable to touch Di Yunshen, he set his sights on Su Qingli.
...
As Su Qingli neared the Lin residence, she suddenly called out, "Master! Stop the car! Wait! I need to check if he really wants to thank me."
"You believe in fortune-telling, young lady?"
Su Qingli waved her little hands for a while, her face turning grim.
"Damn! He doesn’t want to repay me! He wants to kill me! No way! Master, let's turn around and go back!"
At the Lin residence.
"Young master, Su Qingli’s car is almost here."
"Mm."
Five minutes later...
"Young master, Su Qingli’s car—"
"It’s arrived?"
"No, it... turned around and left."
"Left?!" Lin Qianze shot up.
"Yes! And she left very quickly!"
Well, she wasn’t slow—now she was already home, comfortably sprawled on her sofa.
Sensing something was off, Su Qingli called Di Yunshen, sobbing dramatically.
Yes, it was all thunder and no rain.
"Di Yunshen! Someone wants to kidnap me! Waaa! You can’t ignore this! Di Yunshen! Waaa!"
After a while, someone finally answered, "Uh... Madam, the president is in a meeting. I’m Shen Ci."
Su Qingli was taken aback—she’d been crying to the wrong person! Hesitating, she asked, "Can Di Yunshen take my call?"
"I’ll go inform the president."
On the other end, footsteps and a door opening could be heard.
Soon, a pleasant voice came through.
"Qingli."
"Ah! Di Yunshen! Waaa! Someone wants to kidnap me! Hurry, protect me, waaa..."
"Who?"
"Lin Qianze!"
"Your ex-boyfriend."
Su Qingli coughed twice. "He—he’s going to look for Di Tingxiao! Isn’t that your brother? How can you ignore this? Waaa! I married into the Di family, but you’re all so heartless!!"
"He’s looking for Di Tingxiao?"
Su Qingli hugged her phone and nodded obediently. "Not yet, but I calculated it."
"..."
