Chapter Seven: Refusing Treatment

“Sir, if you have a moment, please come with me. I have something I’d like to ask you.”

Seeing that everyone had fallen silent, Master Liu promptly approached Qin Yu’s side.

Qin Yu nodded at these words, glancing at Sun Zhendong with a faint, mocking smile—one more biting than any insult he could have uttered.

He followed Master Liu out of the villa, curiosity flickering in his gaze. “Master Liu, is there something you need?”

“Please, don’t call me ‘Master’—not in front of you. My medical skills are hardly worth mentioning. The reason I sought you out today is to ask: are you proficient in acupuncture?”

“Acupuncture? I’d say I’m reasonably skilled. Is there a problem?”

“To be honest, I have a patient I’ve been treating for three months now, but there’s been no improvement. My teacher is far away in the capital and cannot come, so I was hoping you might take a look.”

Qin Yu paused, then smiled. “I can help, but only when I’m free. I still have a younger sister to settle first.”

“No problem—here’s my card. Call me whenever you have time.”

With that, Master Liu hurried away.

“Qin Yu! Qin Yu, come quickly—Grandfather is awake!”

Sun Qian stood at the doorway, her face alight with excitement.

Qin Yu entered the villa to find the old master already conscious. He went to take his pulse.

After a short while, Qin Yu withdrew his hand and smiled. “The old master is recovering steadily. Just follow the prescription Master Liu left, and he’ll be fine.”

With that, Qin Yu turned to leave, still worried about Mianmian back at the hotel.

But at that moment, Sun Zhen blocked his path, his expression conflicted as he looked at the frail old man lying on the bed. “Grandfather, I’ve agreed to marry my sister to this man.”

“What? You fool! Don’t you know your sister is already betrothed? I—”

Before the old master could finish, he coughed up a mouthful of blood, his eyes wide and glaring at Sun Zhen.

Seeing this, Qin Yu hurried forward, intending to treat the old master.

But the old master refused any help from Qin Yu.

It was clear he did not want to give Qin Yu any opportunity to get close to his granddaughter.

Realizing this, Sun Zhen quickly said, “Grandfather, I was only joking—please don’t take it seriously.”

But it was too late. No matter what, the old master would not allow Qin Yu to treat him.

Though not fatal, a fit of rage like this could still cost a man his life.

As everyone scrambled to find a solution, Qin Yu leaned down and whispered something into the old master’s ear.

At once, the old master released his grip, staring at Qin Yu in shock.

The people around them widened their eyes in surprise.

Qin Yu placed three silver needles, and immediately, color returned to the old master’s pale face.

Retracting the needles, Qin Yu looked around and said, “The old master cannot withstand any more shocks. That sort of thing must never happen again.”

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Just as Qin Yu was about to leave, he felt the old master’s feeble hand clasping his wrist tightly. Though he was too weak to speak, his urgent gaze made it clear—he did not want Qin Yu to go.

“Rest assured, once you’re better, we can talk. I’m not leaving this city.”

With that, Qin Yu gently patted the old master’s hand.

Only then did the old master let go, finally at ease.

Qin Yu left the villa and hurried back to the hotel. Seeing the bodyguards stationed outside and Mianmian safe on the bed, playing with her phone, he finally relaxed.

When she saw him return, Mianmian immediately put down her phone and ran into his arms.

“You’re back, brother!”

Qin Yu stroked her head and smiled, nodding gently.

Just then, a bodyguard approached quietly. “Sir, there are suspicious people around the hotel.”

Qin Yu nodded, a smile on his lips, and whispered a few instructions into the bodyguard’s ear.

The bodyguard nodded and led everyone out of the room.

Night fell.

Two figures crept up to the floor where Qin Yu’s room was located.

The entire floor was silent; the bodyguards had all left.

One of the men quietly opened Qin Yu’s door.

The other rushed inside.

But as soon as they entered, their eyes flew wide open.

Inside, Qin Yu stood waiting with his bodyguards.

The two men spun to flee.

“Since you’re already here, why leave so soon?”

As Qin Yu finished speaking, he flicked out silver needles, pinning them both to the spot.

The bodyguards stepped forward and closed the door.

“Who are you?”

The two men said nothing.

“Stubborn, aren’t you? Fine, then just stay here for a while.”

Qin Yu simply climbed into bed and went to sleep.

The sharp ring of his phone woke Qin Yu from his slumber.

He answered at once. “Who is this?”

“Sir, it’s Dr. Li. Are you free today? About that request of mine—I’m coming over today if you can.”

Glancing at the two assassins who had stood all night, Qin Yu smiled and said, “No problem. Pick me up at the hotel.”

He hung up and looked at the two, asking with a grin, “How are you two holding up? Tired?”

Still, they said nothing.

“Suit yourselves. I’m heading out. Wait here for me.”

Qin Yu was confident that as long as the needles were not removed, they would never be able to move.

As he walked out of the hotel, he saw Dr. Liu pull up in his car.

“Please get in, sir.”

Qin Yu climbed in, and Dr. Liu sped off at a much faster pace than usual.

Sensing Dr. Li’s urgency, Qin Yu frowned. “Why the hurry? Is it so urgent?”

“Sir, I have no choice—the patient’s condition is dire. I can’t afford to delay.”

Hearing this, Qin Yu knew the situation was serious. With Dr. Liu’s skill, only a grave illness could make him so anxious.

Soon, the car entered an upscale neighborhood.

An elderly man waited anxiously at the gate. When he saw Dr. Liu’s car, he hurried forward. “Dr. Liu, thank goodness you’re here. Hurry, my granddaughter’s in critical condition.”

Under the old man’s direction, they parked and quickly followed him into his home.

Inside, despite the clean and luxurious décor, the air was thick with a foul stench. Qin Yu wrinkled his nose in discomfort, but quickly composed himself.
