Chapter One Hundred and Five: Gone for Good
Song Wannin puffed out her cheeks slightly and turned back, looking at him a bit embarrassed.
Wen Jingxing wanted to say that he kissed her simply because he wanted to, so he just went ahead and did it.
But fearing he might scare her and wanting to test her thoughts, he said more tactfully, “We were just playing a game at the time, weren’t we?”
“Oh… is that so? Then that’s great!”
Song Wannin immediately brightened up, relieved to learn it was just a game—it had given her quite a fright.
But seeing how happy she was, Wen Jingxing felt a bit uneasy.
Did she really dislike being with him that much?
Then again, he thought, he himself had once considered breaking off the engagement.
He had never truly tried to win her over, so how could he expect her to suddenly care about him now?
Besides, when he kissed her just now, she hadn’t put up any resistance at all. She’d behaved as docile as a kitten—didn’t that mean he might still have a chance?
“You should go to bed early, or you’ll be tired getting up in the morning.”
Wen Jingxing had noticed she liked to sleep whenever she had nothing to do—was there something wrong with her health?
Otherwise, why would she be so sleepy all the time?
Song Wannin replied, “Alright, you too.”
They wished each other good night and went to their respective bedrooms.
On the sixteenth morning,
Song Wannin woke unusually early. Last night, she’d been so exhausted after returning to her room that she’d fallen asleep as soon as she hit the bed.
She quickly got up to pack her things.
Luckily, she’d already thrown away a lot of useless junk over the past days; now all she had left were a few sets of summer and autumn clothes.
She found it odd—her predecessor had only come here for a variety show, not a long-term stay, so why bring so much useless stuff?
Notebooks, accessories, photo albums, crafts—bits and pieces that were essentially useless and took up space.
The bulk was clothing—most of it hideous and over the top, with only a handful of nice pieces.
Even the seashells she’d picked up at the beach lately, Song Wannin hadn’t kept them all. She and Nan Yan picked their favorites, and shared the rest with other shell collectors.
Back then, nearly everyone from the crew came to ask for one.
There were two reasons for that.
First, everyone wanted a souvenir from their rare trip to the resort.
Second, these shells were given by Song Wannin, the internet celebrity. While unsigned, they were all personally collected by her, making them especially meaningful.
Carrying her luggage, Song Wannin opened her door and saw Wen Jingxing dressed formally.
She looked down at herself—a plain wool dress.
Wen Jingxing glanced at the single suitcase in her hand and asked, “Is that all?”
“Yes, I’ll take it down first,” Song Wannin replied. She wasn’t very strong but had learned to use leverage, so dragging a suitcase downstairs was no problem.
But Wen Jingxing said, “No need, I’ll have someone help you.”
With that, he called for Cheng Mu.
Cheng Mu rushed up and eagerly took the suitcase from Song Wannin, not giving her a chance to refuse.
As they went downstairs together, Wen Jingxing asked, “You know, when you arrived, you had a lot of stuff. How come there’s only this left now?”
Song Wannin was briefly surprised. Back then, Wen Jingxing had walked so fast, never even glancing her way.
She’d thought he hadn’t noticed her at all, but not only had he noticed, he’d remembered.
Perhaps it was because she’d brought so much luggage at the time.
Song Wannin smiled lightly, “It was all junk, so I threw it away.”
“I see. Do you need to go home?”
“No, why?” Song Wannin answered without thinking.
“It’s nothing. I just saw you had so little left and wondered if you needed to go home to get more things.”
Wen Jingxing had meant to ask if she wanted to visit her family.
After all, this time, nearly all the guests were choosing to go home to see their families first.
He was too, though he wasn’t in any rush.
But then he remembered that Song Xin—her so-called younger sister—treated Song Wannin terribly, and as for her stepmother, who knew how she treated her? Even Song Zijian, her biological father, was rumored in their circles not to be fond of her.
So, for Song Wannin, going home hardly seemed meaningful.
“Oh, there’s no need. Let’s go.”
At the doorway of the villa, Song Wannin looked back at the building.
She’d lived here for half a month since crossing over, and of course she’d grown attached.
But from now on, she might never return.
Her eyes betrayed a trace of reluctance.
Wen Jingxing noticed. “Do you like it here?”
Song Wannin simply nodded, saying nothing. Liking it didn’t mean it belonged to her.
But Wen Jingxing said bluntly, “I’ve already had this place put under your name. Even the show’s crew will need your permission to film here in the future.”

“Wow! Is he giving her a wedding house?!”
“Only a true boss proposes like this—just gifting a house in a resort, just like that!”
“Ugh, such a pity! I feel like I’ve missed something huge again!”
“Oh my god! Young Master Wen spoils Song Wannin so much! The property prices here are astronomical! If there’s nothing going on between them, I don’t believe it!”
“Was it yesterday’s kiss that made things real between them—hehehe…”
“That laugh above is so creepy.”
“But starting today, they’re really leaving this place. I’ll miss them so much, sob…”
“Don’t worry, the show’s still going on, right?”
“We’re already halfway through the season, and I haven’t had enough!”
“As long as I get to see Young Master Wen and Song Wannin’s wedding news, I don’t care if the show ends.”
“Don’t jinx it! I want to see the other couples too!”
The comments section, which had started off sad, suddenly shifted gears. Everyone began bantering, and the mood lightened.
Once their luggage was loaded into the car, Song Wannin and Wen Jingxing headed to the courtyard where the group had first gathered at the resort.
It used to be filled with blooming flowers, but with the weather turning colder, only waves of green leaves remained.
They hadn’t eaten there in some time, and the group felt a pang of nostalgia.
Nan Yan took Song Wannin’s hand and said, “Wannin, after you move to the capital, will I still be able to chat with you often?”
“Of course you can.”
“Why wouldn’t you?” The first was Song Wannin’s reply, the second was Yun Ze’s.
Nan Yan was a bit surprised, so Yun Ze explained, “My house is closest to his.”
“His? You mean Young Master Wen? Song Wannin, are you moving in with Wen Jingxing?”
Later, Nan Yan finally learned just how close—Wen Jingxing's house was on one hill, Yun Ze’s was on the next.
“But I’m not living with you, am I,” Nan Yan said.
