Chapter 8: Chili Water and Quicklime (2)
With a sharp rip, she tore the silk sash from Bìhuá’s waist. "I’ll use this to greet my dear second sister!"
Chánggē Yuè let out another yawn as she spoke, while Bìhuá stood there in a panic, desperately clutching her trousers. "Second Miss... I..." How was she supposed to step outside like this?
Chánggē Yǔqíng was startled; she hadn’t even seen how that ugly wretch had moved. Hmph!
"Useless thing!" Unable to fathom what had just happened, Chánggē Yǔqíng could only vent her frustration on her maid.
Chánggē Yuè had little interest in the matter; the girl was nothing more than a pawn. "Are you ready, Second Sister?"
As Chánggē Yǔqíng met Chánggē Yuè’s indifferent gaze, she was momentarily dazed. Could it be that Chánggē Yuè had suddenly become formidable? She shook her head violently, reminding herself that the young masters at the Prime Minister’s manor had praised her martial arts skills just today, and her confidence returned. Chánggē Yuè was nothing but an ugly, disgusting piece of trash!
"Take this!" A flash of malice appeared in Chánggē Yǔqíng’s eyes as she lashed out, her whip aimed directly at Chánggē Yuè’s face.
Chánggē Yuè yawned lazily again, but as she turned, her eyes caught a glimpse of a jade-green bracelet on Chánggē Yǔqíng’s wrist. The calm in her eyes instantly vanished, replaced by a sharp, icy intensity.
Chánggē Yǔqíng noticed the change in her expression and smiled triumphantly. "It seems a little late to be afraid now—" Before she could finish her threat, the silk sash in Chánggē Yuè’s hand coiled around the whip mid-air.
With a single pull, Chánggē Yuè yanked the weapon away and used her other hand to seize Chánggē Yǔqíng by the jaw. "Where did you get this bracelet? Speak!"
Stunned by the sudden turn of events, Chánggē Yǔqíng was too shocked to react—it wasn't so much fear as it was an inability to process what was happening. "You, you..."
The laziness had completely vanished from Chánggē Yuè’s clear eyes, leaving behind endless ferocity. She swung the captured whip with one hand and hooked the pot of chili water from Bìzhú’s grasp with the other.
As Chánggē Yuè held the full pot of chili water, the playful smile from earlier was gone. With a cold curl of her lips, she pried open Chánggē Yǔqíng’s jaw and poured the liquid down her throat.
Chánggē Yǔqíng struggled violently, but the chili water spilled from her mouth and ran directly into her eyes.
"Ah! Ah... my eyes! *Cough, cough*... you... Chánggē Yuè, you... you bitch, I’ll kill you!" Chánggē Yǔqíng thrashed about, but she could not break free from Chánggē Yuè’s iron grip.
With a cold expression, Chánggē Yuè shoved her to the ground. As Chánggē Yǔqíng tried to scramble away, Chánggē Yuè planted a foot firmly on her chest. "Tell me, where did you get that bracelet!"
Chánggē Yǔqíng’s eyes were burning uncontrollably, tears streaming down her face like rain; she was in no state to answer.
Chánggē Yuè slowly crouched down, her gaze fixed on the vibrant green bracelet. "Bìzhú, bring me the lime you have there."
Bìzhú, terrified by the scene, stammered, "Miss, here, here it is..."
Chánggē Yuè smiled, but her eyes remained chillingly cold. She toyed with the bottle of lime, her laughter sounding demonic. "Second Sister, a bit of chili water might be washed away with enough clean water, but if I were to pour this lime into your eyes, tell me, do you think your future would be even more miserable than mine?"
No matter how poorly she was treated, she was still the legitimate daughter of the first wife. Her stepmother could abuse and suppress her, but she still had to maintain a facade for the sake of the clan. But Chánggē Yǔqíng was merely a daughter of a concubine; without those eyes, she would likely be fit for nothing more than to be married off to a servant.
