Chapter 69: Sharing Tribulations All the Same (Part 2)
Being ruthless to others is nothing; being ruthless to oneself is the true cruelty!
"Have you ever considered what would happen if Zongzheng Moyin saw through your empty-city stratagem? If His Highness the Ninth Prince were to die a premature death, the world would surely sing praises of your bravery and greatness," Chang Geyue said with annoyance.
Still feeling aggrieved, she added, "Or perhaps you had already calculated that Zongzheng Moyin would fall for it."
Feng Shang shook his head. "If you have a seventy or eighty percent chance of success, you go all out and plot for it. How can anything in this world be predicted with absolute certainty?"
Chang Geyue let out a muffled hum and said no more.
Watching the young woman's face flush slightly with anger, a sudden trace of softness flashed in Feng Shang's eyes. Then he said, "Zongzheng Moyin has been out of the city for days. Returning in haste, his understanding of the whole situation comes solely from Shangguan Cheng's reports, so it is not difficult to deceive him." It was rare for Feng Shang to offer an explanation to anyone.
However, the key point Chang Geyue caught was entirely different. "Out of the city?"
Feng Shang glanced at Chang Geyue, and seeing intense interest in the woman's eyes, he suddenly felt a surge of stifled frustration. "Help this Prince up."
Qin Qi immediately stepped forward, but seeing Feng Shang's expression suddenly turn gloomy, he was so startled that he did not know whether to extend his hand or withdraw it.
Knowing that Feng Shang was unwilling to elaborate, Chang Geyue did not get angry. Instead, she said, "Since this matter has come to an end, this young lady will be heading home."
With that, Chang Geyue dusted off her clothes and prepared to leave.
Yet Feng Shang's gaze fixed upon her back as though it could pierce right through her.
"Stop right there!" Feng Shang's voice was not loud, but it carried an imposing aura that commanded attention.
Chang Geyue turned her head back, her mind feeling faintly heavy and dizzy.
She had shed no one knew how much blood just to escape, and now she couldn't even go back to eat something good to recuperate?
Feng Shang looked at Chang Geyue coldly. "Help this Prince up."
Chang Geyue rolled her eyes at the heavens.
She had learned just how heavy this fellow was when he was unconscious. Right now, she was extremely weak; if his thousand-jin body crushed her and left her crippled, who would she go to for justice?
Yet, meeting Feng Shang's eyes, which burned with a fierce and violent glare, Chang Geyue took a deep breath.
Considering the fact that he had saved her life...
"I'll help you, I'll help you." Muttering under her breath, Chang Geyue walked over with a pout.
A flicker of amusement crossed Feng Shang's eyes.
However, the moment Chang Geyue rested her arm against Feng Shang's, her head suddenly spun. "Why is this stone chamber spinning..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Chang Geyue tilted sideways and knocked Feng Shang right back down as he was just trying to leverage himself up.
Qin Qi stood to the side, not daring to laugh, though holding it in was agonizing!
Feng Shang's brows knitted tightly together. In an instant, he scooped up Chang Geyue and strode outside, not forgetting to shout loudly to Qin Qi, "Go bring Zui Qingfeng to this Prince!"
Inside the Nine Gardens.
Zui Qingfeng placed his fingers on Chang Geyue's pulse for a moment before lifting them.
It was merely excessive blood loss; Zui Qingfeng's face showed no sign of gravity as he began, "She..."
Only to find Feng Shang staring at him with bloodshot eyes, looking so eerie and terrifying that the words Zui Qingfeng was about to speak were abruptly swallowed back out of fear.
"Take her pulse!" Every word from Feng Shang seemed to be squeezed out through clenched teeth. Subconsciously, Zui Qingfeng placed his hand back onto Chang Geyue's wrist.
Yet—it was still just excessive blood loss?!
After a long while, he cautiously glanced back at Feng Shang. Receiving a glare even more frightening than the last, Zui Qingfeng hurriedly placed his fingers back on Chang Geyue's wrist once more.
