Chapter 64: How Dare They Poison Me (Part 1)
Hearing the sickening sound of his subordinate's flesh being corroded behind him, the man in black grit his teeth and ordered, "The person just now is the Ninth Prince of Mobei! Kill him!"
The blood on Chang Geyue's arm slowly congealed. She frowned slightly, hesitated for a moment, and then, struggling through the pain, brutally tore open the wound on her arm once more.
Blood dripped down instantly. She took out a packet of medicinal powder and scattered it into the air. In a split second, the secret chamber was filled with the reek of blood, every microscopic droplet turning into lethal poison.
She glanced at Feng Shang, then grit her teeth, settled Feng Shang into a corner of the room, and positioned herself directly behind the stone chamber's door.
With a snap, the stone door was forced open. She leaped into the air in a flash and triggered the door of an adjacent stone chamber.
Concealed by the bloody mist, the men in black failed to notice that one of the fugitives had vanished from the group.
The men in black barked fiercely, "Pursue!" Although they held their breath, the toxic vapor of the bloody mist was so potent that they still inhaled some into their bodies.
Their skin was also corroding into terrifying, grotesque conditions.
Relying on her intimate knowledge of the labyrinthine stone chambers, Chang Geyue embarked on a desperate escape.
Amidst the rising and falling stone doors, she stumbled into the largest chamber of all. Tragedy struck: she realized that apart from the door through which she had just entered, this chamber had no other exits.
If her arm weren't injured, she would have genuinely wanted to tear that damned, useless map to shreds.
The men in black flooded in moments later. Chang Geyue smiled indifferently. Back in the day, the Youlan Guard had shared a deep connection with her, yet now that they met again, it was a battle to the death.
She chuckled softly. Splendid!
Although she was injured, she still looked infinitely better than these blind, deaf, and faceless rotting monsters.
The leader of the men in black ripped off a human-skin mask from his face, breathing much more easily. "Your blood poison is indeed formidable, but since this lord was commanded to kill you, how could I not take precautions?" Rumor had it that the Ninth Prince of the Feng family of Mobei possessed miraculous, unfathomable mastery over poisons, capable of instantly reducing a person to a skeleton.
"Heh heh, seeing you today proves that rumor pales in comparison to reality! Once I take your head, His Highness can finally be rid of a thorn in his side." A smug smile twisted the dark, gloomy face of the man in black.
Chang Geyue let out a cold snort. Knowing these people mistook her for that red-robed pervert, she didn't bother to correct them. Instead, she said directly, "Fuxin, Zongzheng Moyin's greatest thorn is probably not this Prince, but rather the fragmentary Map of the Nine Provinces."
Back then, the Map of the Nine Provinces had been tattooed onto her back, and while she was imprisoned in the Ministry of Justice, she had personally pressed a red-hot branding iron against her own back. With her skin destroyed, how could the map possibly have survived intact?
A flash of surprise crossed the eyes of the man in black when Chang Geyue called out his name. The Youlan Guard were the hidden shadow guards by the Prince of Chen's side; besides dead men, only the Prince of Chen knew of them.
After a long pause, he gave a cold laugh. "Then you must die even more!" To be able to uncover even the Youlan Guard—the Ninth Prince of Mobei truly lived up to his legendary reputation.
Chang Geyue sneered. "What? Do you not wish to claim the monumental merit of securing the Map of the Nine Provinces from your master?"
Fuxin's brow knitted tightly together. The Map of the Nine Provinces was a legendary artifact; he had only ever heard of it and had never laid eyes on it.
Just as he frowned, poised to speak, a melodious voice drifted over, carrying a trace of breezy, effortless detachment. "Did you say you have the Map of the Nine Provinces?"
Fuxin and the other men in black whipped around, only to see a young nobleman in white robes with a face as flawless as jade. Clad in pristine white, he possessed an elegance and grace entirely his own, standing within the stone chamber as if belonging to another realm altogether.
Fuxin and his men froze for a fraction of a second, then immediately dropped to their knees. "Your Highness, Prince of Chen."
