Chapter 62: Love and Romance, Where Is It Not Clichéd? (9)
How foolish he had been to pin his hopes on an enemy.
Gone was the playful banter from Chang Geyue’s expression, replaced entirely by the absence of the obsequious, fawning demeanor she usually wore when matching wits with Feng Shang.
With a slight curl of her lips, she suddenly smiled and said, "Steward Qin, I will take good care of your master for you. As for those people outside, their vital weak point lies right at the third rib on the left."
With that, she looked at Steward Qin. After a long moment of visible inner struggle, he finally spoke, "Here is the blueprint of the secret chambers, take it. If any harm comes to His Highness, this old man will hunt you down to the ends of the earth and never let you go."
Chang Geyue gave Steward Qin a speechless look. She had half-expected him to say he wouldn't let her go even as a vengeful ghost!
With that thought, she glanced down at the map in her hand. The mechanism-driven secret passages were extraordinarily intricate; even she could not master all the tunnels and switches in a single moment.
After a long pause, she gritted her teeth, pulled the still-unconscious Feng Shang to his feet, threw open another hidden door in the stone chamber, and rushed out.
Yet, Feng Shang's tightly closed eyelids suddenly fluttered slightly.
Chang Geyue ground her teeth, wishing she could install a pair of wheels on Feng Shang. The man looked as though his physique had been sculpted to absolute perfection, so why was he so impossibly heavy to support?
As she pushed forward through the dark passage, Chang Geyue turned over the day’s events in her mind, trying to make sense of them.
Shangguan Cheng was Zongzheng Moyin’s man, yet he had no idea that this red-robed pervert was actually a prince.
Just as Shangguan Cheng had finished being tortured, the elite Youlan Guards under Zongzheng Moyin’s command had been dispatched.
Chang Geyue frowned slightly, a mocking sneer flashing across her lips a moment later.
Zongzheng Moyin was truly still Zongzheng Moyin; even among his most capable subordinates, he maintained a constant guard.
If her guess was correct, this time he intended to use the red-robed pervert's hands to justly and honorably eliminate Shangguan Cheng!
How laughable that Shangguan Cheng was still waiting to be promoted, granted lands, and blessed with lifelong wealth and prosperity!
He had no idea what kind of vicious wolf he was following like a foolish dog!
With this thought, Chang Geyue glanced sideways at Feng Shang. "You pervert, you cannot afford to die here." The Youlan Guards were the trump card in Zongzheng Moyin’s hand; the fact that they could be mobilized on such a massive scale at once spoke volumes about the "status" this red-robed pervert currently held in Zongzheng Moyin’s heart.
With the old emperor’s lineage withering away, her only hope for revenge lay with these princes of different surnames.
And so, Chang Geyue gritted her teeth and tightened her grip around Feng Shang’s arm.
Beneath his unconscious state, Feng Shang’s eyelashes trembled faintly.
After walking through the secret chambers for a very long time, Chang Geyue finally set Feng Shang down.
Repeatedly turning the map over in her hands, her brows knitted together until they were practically twisted into a knot.
Damn that useless Steward Qin! "Why is there no exit marked on this map?!"
Could she be reading the direction wrong? Chang Geyue was on the verge of tearing the map to pieces.
At that exact moment, she caught the faint sound of movement, followed by a man's voice drifting in: "My lord, there is no way forward here."
Chang Geyue looked around her surroundings. There was a secret door to her left, but the voices echoing from outside seemed to come from all directions. What would she do if the door she opened happened to lead right to where the enemy was standing?
The man outside let out a harsh, strained laugh. "The entire stone chamber is already within our control. If we cannot find that person, we will raze the Nine Gardens to the ground."
Chang Geyue gritted her teeth inwardly. *Damn it, they really are ruthless.*
Right at that moment, an excited voice rang out from outside, "My lord! Found it, the mechanism is right here!"
Dragging Feng Shang with her, Chang Geyue flashed swiftly toward a relatively secluded nook. She clenched her jaw and drew a vial of poison from her sleeve.
