Chapter 57: Love and Romance, Where Is It Not Cliché (4)
"Why don't you submerge him in the freezing abyss for seven or eight years, nurturing him daily with prime ginseng soup?" Otherwise, if he were left in there for just seven or eight months, it would be terrible if he died.
Feng Shang narrowed his eyes slightly, his phoenix-like gaze falling directly upon Chang Geyue.
Chang Geyue's pores instantly constricted, and an awkward chuckle escaped the corner of her mouth.
Silently cursing herself for being a fool—of all things to suggest, why did she have to mention the freezing abyss?—she offered a dry, nervous laugh. "Consider that I said nothing."
Without a trace of emotion in his voice, Feng Shang violently tossed Shangguan Cheng to the ground. "Your idea is exceptionally good."
Just as Chang Geyue was about to breathe a sigh of relief, she watched Feng Shang step forward until his breath brushed against her face. "If you ever dare to defy this Prince again," he whispered, "I will throw you right in there with him."
Chang Geyue was speechless. Could he possibly be any more vicious?!
Meanwhile, Shangguan Cheng had collided heavily with the ground and appeared to have passed out.
Looking awkwardly at Feng Shang, Chang Geyue hesitated for a long moment before asking, "Um, well..." Does that mean her little life is safe—at least until the next time she defies him?
With that thought, she tentatively cast a sideways glance at Feng Shang. Not to mention, for a complete psycho, this lunatic didn't actually look like one at all.
Feng Shang let out a soft scoff. Noticing that Chang Geyue's gaze actually held a hint of shyness, his heart softened by a fraction. Abruptly, he commanded, "Hand over the King of the Taihu Pearls."
Chang Geyue took a few steps back. Everything she had endured was for that very pearl.
How could she possibly spit out meat that was already in her mouth? Gritting her teeth, she declared, "The King of the Taihu Pearls belongs to me in the first place!"
Feng Shang sneered coldly. "I truly wish to peel off this human-skin mask of yours just to see how thick your shameless face actually is!"
Taking another few steps back, Chang Geyue watched him with utter vigilance as silver needles materialized in her palm. "What do you mean by shameless? You ruined one of my Taihu pearls, and taking this one is merely compensation."
Frowning deeply, Feng Shang pondered for a long while before realizing that the pearl this woman claimed as hers must be the one from the Green Water Freezing Abyss. His estimation of her shamelessness hit a brand-new low. "Yours? That was an imperial tribute."
Chang Geyue remained completely unfazed. "If you hadn't ambushed me halfway through that day, I would have succeeded long ago."
Feng Shang burst into laughter, as though he had just heard the most ridiculous joke under the heavens. "If not for this Prince, you probably would have descended straight to the netherworld!"
That pearl in the Green Water Freezing Abyss was nothing more than a hooked bait put out by Zongzheng Moyin to lure him into a trap!
Chang Geyue let out a low huff. The netherworld?
Pardon her, but she had just crawled her way out of there and had no intention of returning anytime soon.
"In short, the King of the Taihu Pearls now belongs to me." Refusing to yield an inch, Chang Geyue met Feng Shang's inscrutable gaze head-on, the fawning smile completely vanished from her face.
A century spent traversing the Bridge of Helplessness had worn away much of the hostility in her heart, and against her mortal enemies of this lifetime, she would never back down a single step.
Yet toward people of no consequence, her temperament had long since been honed to that of a crafty little fox.
Had it not been for this, she could never have thrived so effortlessly in the underworld, to the extent that even Meng Po herself had stepped forward to help her return to the mortal realm!
Gazing at Chang Geyue, Feng Shang looked as though his eyes could whip up a howling gale from the northwest. "Splendid!" He had only just established the rules for her, and already she was defying him.
"It seems you are in need of a proper lesson." Amusement flickered strangely in Feng Shang's eyes, sending a bone-chilling shiver down Chang Geyue's spine.
