With a single flash of movement, Changge Yue appeared behind the man and struck him with the back of her hand.
Unexpectedly, the man seemed incapable of feeling pain. He viciously lunged for Changge Yue’s arm and bit down. She sneered, flicking a silver needle into his jaw.
The man cried out in pain, but at that moment, a faint wisp of black mist drifted from his sleeve.
Changge Yue smiled faintly. “Poison?”
During her hundred years as a soul on the Bridge of Helplessness, she had been saturated with countless toxins. She had long since become immune to poison.
Yet the poison the man had produced still astonished her. “The Poison Sect?”
This was the Poison Sect’s exclusive secret poison.
She knew of the Poison Sect because the poisons created by that sect were exceptionally vicious and horrifying, while its secret formulas were never passed on to outsiders, even at the cost of its members’ lives.
Back when she had been detoxifying souls on the Bridge of Helplessness, she would curse under her breath whenever she encountered someone who had died at the hands of the Poison Sect.
The poisons of that sect were simply too peculiar and too difficult to neutralize—and damn it, they kept coming up with new ones far too quickly!
Although she had eventually deciphered every poison the sect had devised, the deep impression they had left on her had never faded.
The man’s numb eyes showed no reaction at all after being struck by Changge Yue’s silver needle. But upon hearing the words “Poison Sect,” he suddenly lost himself for a moment.
“The Poison Sect?! The Poison Sect! What Poison Sect? Who am I? Who belongs to the Poison Sect?”

As he spoke, the man clutched his head and began screaming like a madman.
Changge Yue frowned and drove a silver needle into one of his vital pressure points.
The frenzied man collapsed at once. After twitching for a while, he passed out.
Yet no one in the room paid the slightest attention to the disturbance. In an instant, the stone chamber once again fell into deathly silence.
Changge Yue could somewhat understand why the man from the Poison Sect had gone insane.
A tiny room like this was crammed with a bunch of lunatics. They could not even enjoy the slightest trace of the outside world clinging to her body. It would have been stranger if they had not lost their minds!
Then Changge Yue remembered that if the pervert who had captured her had decided to throw her in here, he might well have done so.
She immediately felt fortunate that she had not fallen into that pervert’s hands.
But the next moment, she became depressed again. She had indeed escaped quickly—but she had thrown herself straight into another trap, hadn’t she?
Changge Yue’s face turned bitter, and she was so depressed that she nearly scratched her head raw.
At that moment, the white-robed man, who had seemed detached from the world until then, suddenly rose to his feet.
“I thought you would kill him.” He pointed at the man unconscious on the floor.

Changge Yue crouched down and took the man’s pulse. All his bodily functions were normal.
His mind, however, was on the verge of complete collapse.
After witnessing Changge Yue’s skill—and seeing that she was unafraid of the Poison Sect’s toxin—the white-robed man’s attitude suddenly became much friendlier.
“You were captured by that villain too?”
The white-robed man had handsome features, and his voice was as soothing as a gentle breeze.
But when Changge Yue heard him call the other man a “villain,” she frowned slightly.
“No.”
Her tone was cool and distant. She showed none of the panic one might expect from someone who had just entered such a bizarre place, nor any warmth born of shared misfortune.
The white-robed man was taken aback, apparently unaccustomed to such a chilly reception. Something stirred in his heart, and he asked again, “Do you want to escape?”
Changge Yue said nothing. If she found an opportunity, she would leave on her own.
If there was no opportunity, what use would it be to plot with the others?
The white-robed man sneered inwardly, but said aloud, “Do you know why he went mad?”
Changge Yue raised an eyebrow. “In a place like this, it would be stranger not to go mad.”
