Chapter 43: Escape (3)
Feng Shang’s eyes narrowed slightly, and a dangerous aura burst from him. “Pregnant?” he repeated, savoring the word.
Qin Qi lowered herself even further, yet dared not withhold her answer. “Yes.”
Feng Shang gave a muffled snort and drained his tea in one gulp. Truly, that woman never ceased causing trouble.
“Your child?” A trace of anger appeared on his face. Such a clumsy lie had actually lured one of the hidden guards away from his side. She certainly had some skill!
Feng Shang still did not know that, of the four hidden guards he had left behind, only the foolishly adorable Fourth Treasure remained—and that he was currently with the foxlike Chang Geyue.
Qin Qi hurriedly raised her head and looked at Feng Shang with an aggrieved expression. “N-no, it isn’t this subordinate’s. It belongs to Big Brother Wen Fang.”
“Pfft!”
Zui Qingfeng completely lost control and burst out laughing. Usually, the several hidden guards around Feng Shang were so arrogant that they hardly even acknowledged him, yet now they had managed to be this absurdly stupid!
They obeyed only Feng Shang’s commands, and somehow they had become this idiotic!
Qin Qi was probably a fool as well. Wen Fang practiced a discipline that required him to remain celibate—how could he possibly have anything to do with a woman?
Though Zui Qingfeng had met Chang Geyue only once, he had already begun secretly idolizing her.
Feng Shang’s expression had become so ugly that it defied description. After a long while, he seemed to force the words out between his teeth. “Wen Fang’s? She told you that herself?”
His pupils contracted slightly. With a powerful squeeze, the cup in his hand was crushed to pieces once again.
She had actually dared to claim that she was carrying Wen Fang’s child!
What a shameless woman!
Zui Qingfeng immediately held his breath, wishing he could simply cease to exist.
Qin Qi, still kneeling on the ground, had no choice but to brace herself and continue. “No. That woman fainted. Fourth Treasure took her pulse.”
At the mention of Chang Geyue fainting, Feng Shang’s brows unconsciously drew together, and an inexplicable glimmer passed through his eyes.
“Hmph!”
Neither Zui Qingfeng nor Qin Qi could make sense of that single grunt, but Feng Shang had already vanished before them.
Deep below ground, on the distant bank of the Azure Waters Cold Pool, Brush, Ink, Paper, and Inkstone stood at the shore, watching Chang Geyue submerged in the center of the pool. The two exchanged helpless glances.
“Where’s Brother Fourth Treasure? Are we still supposed to put these clothes on that woman?” Ink asked helplessly, holding a sable-fur garment.
Paper, who was carrying a brazier, looked even more innocent. “Do you think the brazier is close enough to that woman here?”
As the two exchanged one remark after another, they suddenly heard footsteps behind them. Brush turned around excitedly.
“Fourth Treasure, you finally came ba—Your Highness!”
He instinctively straightened, and the sable fur slipped from his hands in fright.
The prince’s expression…
It was terrifying.
Feng Shang’s gaze fell upon the sable fur on the ground, then unconsciously shifted toward Chang Geyue submerged in the cold pool.
Her disheveled hair covered her face, while her body trembled incessantly, making her appear pitiful and helpless.
But after only a few breaths, the prince’s gaze contracted sharply. His eyes revealed emotions too complicated to distinguish as anger or delight.
That damned woman had indeed escaped.
“Seal off the Nine Gardens. Without my orders, not even a fly is to be allowed out!”
By the time Chang Geyue, Zhuge Suyun, and Wen Qingcheng had entered the inner residence, they were no longer inside the Treasure Studio.
They had arrived instead at the Nine Gardens, a secluded realm of its own—and Feng Shang’s base in Jin City.
Gazing at the figure in the cold pool, Feng Shang forced each word through clenched teeth.
“Bring Fourth Treasure up here for me!”
