Chapter 50: Departure! Is That a Bank?
Not long after, Lu Feng received a call from Yang Ming, who drove a small truck directly over.
When Lu Feng got out of his building, he saw ten gas cylinders loaded on the back of the truck.
He climbed into the truck bed and inspected the valves of the gas cylinders. They had all been tampered with to ensure that once ignited, the cylinders would instantly explode.
Lu Feng carried these gas cylinders one by one into his apartment, while Yang Ming silently helped him without asking a single question.
After moving all the gas cylinders, Yang Ming said to Lu Feng, "Xiaofeng, I asked around. Setting up a gas cylinder distribution agency requires real-name registration procedures."
"Furthermore, customers buying gas cylinders also need to be registered under their real names. This regulation is getting stricter, especially since the cylinders you want are tampered with. If anyone pays attention or investigates, it will spell trouble."
"So, if you really want to do this, I will handle it on my end and put the name under someone else's. That way, even if something goes wrong, it won't trace back to you."
Lu Feng was genuinely touched upon hearing this.
His cousin truly thought things through, and everything he did was for his own good.
"Cousin, then I'll have to trouble you with this," Lu Feng said, adding, "I'll transfer the money to you later."
Since his cousin could handle this matter, there was indeed no need for him to show his face.
However, he would still need to rent a warehouse later; he couldn't keep moving these gas cylinders into this rented apartment indefinitely.
Yang Ming soon drove away in his small truck.
Lu Feng locked his door from the inside and then entered the game.
Lin Jiao and the other three were already waiting for him at Qingfeng Tea House.
"Let's go downstairs," Lu Feng said to the four of them upon entering, leading the way downward.
Before long, they reached the second floor.
From this vantage point, they could already hear a chorus of intertwined zombie roars.
Peeking cautiously through the railing, the sight of the dense horde of zombies below was enough to make one's scalp tingle.
Lin Jiao whispered, "Boss, actually, after eliminating the four mutant beasts, we've already lured the zombies from one direction outside the building in. We could completely leave through the window using ropes; there's no need to provoke these zombies. Their numbers are simply too vast."
"It's precisely because their numbers are vast that we must," Lu Feng smiled and said.
Another reason he wanted to deal with these zombies was because of their sheer quantity, which meant a massive amount of experience points. Even though they could already escape through the windows using ropes, since so many zombies had already been lured here, he had to farm a wave of experience.
With that, Lu Feng briefly exited the game with a thought, transported the gas cylinders into the game one by one, and placed them in front of Lin Jiao and the other three.
Since these four in-game employees would find out sooner or later, now was a great opportunity to let them witness it firsthand.
Lin Jiao and the three stared in astonishment at the gas cylinders brought inside, clearly full of curiosity as to what these objects were.
Naturally, in the real world, gas cylinders had long begun to be replaced. One could say that fewer and fewer aspects of daily life utilized them.
Decades later, gas cylinders would likely have vanished entirely.
Therefore, people of Lin Jiao and the others' era had never seen gas cylinders at all.
After bringing all the gas cylinders in, Lu Feng picked one up and instructed the four, "Like this, open the valve and throw them into the zombie horde."
While speaking, he demonstrated by twisting open the valve of a gas cylinder and tossing it directly into the crowd of zombies.
Clang, clang, clang!
The sound of metal striking the ground agitated the zombies, causing them to swarm toward the gas cylinder.
Although confused, Lin Jiao and the three followed Lu Feng's instructions. They each picked up a gas cylinder, opened the valves, and threw them into the zombie horde, scattering them across different locations as Lu Feng requested to ensure a comprehensive blast.
The sound of clanging echoed continuously.
From the height of the second floor, such impacts were not enough to make the gas cylinders explode, though a few unfortunate zombies were struck directly on the head by the falling canisters and met their ends before they even understood what was happening.
With over ten gas cylinders released simultaneously, a thick concentration of gas quickly began to diffuse into the surrounding air.
"Boss, this smell... are these things the reason for those explosions?" Lin Jiao asked with a face full of astonishment.
When the boss had previously killed the mutant beasts, the explosion sites had carried this exact same odor.
This allowed her to guess something.
Xu Bin and the other two looked at Lu Feng with equal curiosity, having reached the same conclusion.
Without hiding anything, Lu Feng nodded, pulled out a lighter, and tossed it downward.
The flame came into contact with the gas, instantly igniting the entire layer of vapor and creating a terrifying cloud of fire.
Simultaneously, the gas cylinders themselves caught fire. Because they had been tampered with, a series of terrifying explosions erupted the next moment, sending out horrifying shockwaves that swept across the area.
Under these terrifying shockwaves, much like the previous scenario, the bodies of the zombies were effortlessly torn to shreds.
The zombies fell in massive waves, and the dense crowds were cleared out in large patches.
Naturally, a flurry of notifications echoed in Lu Feng's mind:
[Congratulations on killing a zombie, gained 5 experience points!]
[Congratulations on killing a zombie, gained 5 experience points!]
...
[Congratulations on killing a zombie, gained 5 experience points!]
[Congratulations on your level increasing!]
[Congratulations on killing a zombie, gained 5 experience points!]
...
Accompanied by the continuous prompts in his mind, Lu Feng leveled up once again.
He instantly felt the familiar sensation of a level-up, with warm currents coursing through his body accompanied by that wondrous feeling.
Clearly, dealing with dense packs of zombies still had its perks.
Following the explosion, the majority of the zombies previously lured by Lin Jiao and the others were eliminated. At the same time, the remaining zombies grew restless.
Lu Feng paid no mind to the survivors, seeing as he had temporarily run out of gas cylinders.
He directly checked his character stats:
Character: Lu Feng
Gender: Male
Level: 7
Strength: 10 (Average person 5)
Agility: 10 (Average person 5)
Stamina: 10 (Average person 5)
Mental Power: 0
Combat Skill: Basic Combat Arts!
Experience Points: 5120/6400
This level-up once again increased his Strength, Agility, and Stamina by 1 point each.
However, what annoyed him slightly was that he was just a sliver of experience short of another level-up.
If only his cousin had brought him two more gas cylinders.
What a pity; he would just have to wait for next time.
"Let's go! Time to leave this place," Lu Feng told Lin Jiao and the others.
Lin Jiao nodded and took the lead. To facilitate their escape earlier, the four had specifically lured the zombies from one direction outside the building inward, so they could safely exit through that path now.
Previously, they hadn't dared to do so solely because of the mutant beasts; otherwise, they would have already left.
Moments later, Lu Feng stepped out of the department store. Outside was a plaza. Although the zombies in the direction of their exit had been lured inside, scattered ones remained and lunged at them upon sight.
Yet, scattered zombies posed no threat and were easily dealt with by the group.
Lu Feng glanced toward the other sides of the building, where dense crowds of zombies had gathered, appearing somewhat restless as they paced along the outer walls, clearly drawn by the earlier explosions.
Lu Feng soon followed Lin Jiao and the others out of the plaza and onto the street outside.
The gray concrete road was covered in cracks, with moss-like plants sprouting from the fissures everywhere, presenting a desolate scene.
Nearly every building along the street bore cracks, draped in moss with shattered windows, adding to the sense of decay.
The street was also littered with abandoned vehicles, though these cars were visibly different from those in the real world.
Before taking many steps, Lu Feng's gaze was suddenly caught by a building ahead.
Atop the structure was a large English sign: BANK
Below it were the characters for Shenhua Bank.
In other words, this was a bank.
Lu Feng's eyes instantly lit up.
