Chapter 8: The Thrill of Having Dad's Backing Is Truly Unmatched!
Mu Keqing pushed him away with a flick of her hand, shooting him a fierce glare. “You little brat, was that on purpose?”
At five years old, the boy was hardly strong; her shove sent him crashing into the champagne tower beside him, followed by the sharp sound of shattering glass.
When Dongfang She turned around, he saw the scene: the little boy curled up on the floor, frowning, surrounded by broken glass and champagne spilled across the carpet—a complete mess, utterly disheveled.
“Bastard!” Without thinking, he stepped forward and scooped the boy into his arms.
“Are you hurt anywhere?” Dongfang She had never been anxious over anyone, especially a child, but the familiar face of this boy froze him in place instantly.
Fate is a curious thing. Even if he didn’t believe in it, he couldn’t deny that this child was undoubtedly connected to him by countless invisible threads.
Fire made a victorious gesture in his heart, grudgingly awarding some points to his irresponsible father. Rubbing the scrape on his arm with his chubby fingers, he looked perfectly innocent. “Thank you, uncle. I’m fine, but that lady over there seems hurt.”
At Fire’s reminder, Dongfang She finally snapped back to reality and glanced at Mu Keqing sitting on the floor, stunned and utterly bedraggled.
A shadow darkened his deep green eyes. Carefully setting the boy down, Dongfang She looked down on her with a commanding presence. “With such a vicious heart, I don’t see why you should even stay in the music industry!”
Mu Keqing’s expression instantly changed. Forgetting her status, she scrambled to her feet, grabbed Dongfang She’s arm, and forced a smile. “She, I didn’t mean it. I’m sorry, little treasure.”
Dongfang She snorted coldly, clearly displeased.
Fire’s heart bloomed with pride—so this was what it felt like to have a dad backing you up!
Daddy with his fiery red hair, green eyes, and explosive temper was undeniably handsome!
“Sorry, little treasure. Don’t hold it against your sister, okay?” Mu Keqing’s voice was sickeningly sweet. It might work on grown men, but it did nothing for a five-year-old.
Fire smiled brightly, showing a row of perfect white teeth. “It’s my fault. Auntie, please don’t be mad. But these clothes were handmade by Mommy, so now I can’t wear them. Auntie, what do you think I should do?”
The little cutie deliberately emphasized the word “auntie,” leaving Mu Keqing awkward. She hadn’t expected the boy to be so sharp, but with Dongfang She present, she dared not lose her temper and could only smile apologetically. “Name your price. Auntie will pay you back.”
Fire chuckled to himself but maintained a solemn expression. “No need. Just consider that money as compensation from me to you for this limited edition Chanel dress. I hope you, madam, will forgive my recklessness.”
Mu Keqing felt like crying—silenced by a child, losing a dress, and losing face in front of Dongfang She all at once!
Seeing the boy so quick-witted and dressed like a little gentleman, Dongfang She felt an inexplicable surge of joy. He even found himself hoping this child was truly his own flesh and blood.
“Little treasure, what’s your name?” Dongfang She crouched down and asked on a whim.
“My name is Fire.”
“Fire? Why that name?” Dongfang She was puzzled. Who would name their child that? Even with a deficiency in the element of fire, it seemed an odd choice.
“Because Mommy said I was made when she and Daddy played with fire, so she named me Fire. It means ‘little flame’!”
The little boy grinned triumphantly, full of swagger and pride. Envious? Admirable? My name’s creative, isn’t it?
