Chapter 49: Harmonious Father-Son Relations
"So it was her!" Yu Jin suddenly had a flash of realization. The look she cast toward Dongfang She carried a hint of complexity as she muttered under her breath, "I never expected President Dongfang to have such poor taste."
He would really take a fancy to any stray cat or dog!
Dongfang She was furious. What kind of expression was that?
Wasn't that playboy behavior all just for relaxation?
"Assistant Qin, you've had too much to drink."
Dongfang She spoke in a cold voice. Qin Ye frowned, wondering who was talking to him and why the person in front of him had split into three?
The next second, Qin Ye slumped over the table and lost consciousness.
"No way? Just a few glasses of red wine?"
Yu Jin was surprised. Qin Ye had been by Dongfang She's side for years, and drinking was certainly inevitable during business dinners. How could his alcohol tolerance be so abysmal?
Dongfang She was also curious. Qin Ye had always been able to hold his liquor, so why had he passed out after just a few glasses tonight?
With no time to dwell on it, he immediately called someone to come and take Qin Ye away. Afterward, he opened the windows to air out the room for a while before closing them again.
Yu Jin cleaned up the mess on the table. Fire was carried over by Dongfang She to play video games, the two of them huddled together on the sofa, their heads close in an indescribably affectionate posture.
"This part requires a cooperative double attack, or else the boss will regenerate with full health."
That was Dongfang She's voice, patiently and gently teaching Fire how to operate the controls.
"Oh, I know now!"
Fire was delighted—genuinely happy, because this was the first time he had ever played video games with his daddy.
Yu Jin tossed the bowls and chopsticks into the dishwasher, squeezed some fresh juice, poured three cups, and carried them over.
"Drink some juice!" She bent down and placed the cups on the coffee table.
Fire kept his eyes glued to the TV screen, his hands operating the controls with a dexterity that looked nothing like a beginner.
Dongfang She's gaze shifted from the television to Yu Jin, and a single glance made it seem as though he could never look away again.
She had already untied her apron, still wearing the work attire from earlier in the day. After a busy day, her hair was slightly disheveled, but it did not affect her aura in the least; instead, it made her look comforting and effortlessly authentic.
Why was her skin so fair?
Just looking at her made Dongfang She's heart race with distraction. Thinking of the scene that had unfolded in the office earlier today, he felt his throat go dry and couldn't help swallowing hard.
"What's wrong with you?" Yu Jin asked in surprise, noticing his slightly flushed cheeks. Surely he hadn't gotten drunk too?
Dongfang She narrowed his long eyes, proudly turning his head away to drink his juice in silence, despite the scorching wave of desire surging through his body and the uncomfortable stiffness in his lower half.
"This old monster has such strong vitality, I can't kill it..." Fire said in his childish voice, looking every bit like a little boy starved for affection.
"Let me handle it!" Dongfang She radiated dominance as he lunged forward to lead the charge.
Yu Jin silently stepped back to the sidelines, watching the father and son.
She had to admit that Fire and Dongfang She were cut from the exact same cloth. That palm-sized little face was currently radiant with the purest of smiles.
The child liked him, didn't he?
Even though she had instilled in Fire from a very young age just how much of a bastard Dongfang She was, the thick bond of blood still drew them together.
The clock struck eight. After tidying everything up, Yu Jin stood up to take her leave. Fire was growing a bit sleepy; perhaps due to wearing colored contact lenses, his eyes were struggling to stay open and kept watering.
Yu Jin panicked, quickly gathering him into her arms and holding his tiny hands to prevent him from accidentally rubbing the lenses out.
