Chapter 26: Who Is the Real Trouble?
This scene naturally drew many eyes, and Yu Jin herself had no idea that she possessed such charm, enough to keep Dongfang She’s gaze fixed upon her.
Just watching her like this made Dongfang She’s throat feel parched.
"Is there anything you don't eat?"
Yu Jin turned her face toward him. The light piercing through at that moment was so blinding that Dongfang She felt as though he were looking at a fairy who had fallen from the heavens.
Yet, those delicate contours seemed to overlap for an instant with a blurred shadow from his memory. Dongfang She’s expression suddenly darkened, and a dull ache pierced his heart, as if he had been struck by an arrow.
"Hey, I'm talking to you!" Yu Jin waved a hand in front of his eyes. He caught it, his gaze so cold and detached that it made her heart skip a beat.
"Yu Jin, let me ask you one more time: have we met somewhere before?" Dongfang She leaned in close, his warm breath grazing the tip of her nose.
That strange yet familiar scent threw Yu Jin into a panic. She lowered her eyes almost immediately, an instinctive urge to flee rising within her.
"Why are you hiding?" Dongfang She narrowed his eyes, clearly displeased.
Yu Jin steadied herself, then boldly poked his chest with a finger, flashing a mischievous grin. "The 'chasing a girl' routine is truly a tired cliché, President Dongfang. But let me say it again: with a face as devilishly handsome as yours, if we had ever met, I would certainly remember it vividly!"
Yu Jin was the type of woman who would blush at the slightest off-color joke; she was being this bold now only to divert his attention.
Dongfang She was successfully swayed. He stroked his chin and nodded. "That’s true. There’s no reason you wouldn’t remember me if we’d met. Wait, who said I was chasing you?! You’re the one responsible for me!"
Yu Jin laughed inwardly at his naivety and steered the conversation away. "Alright, alright, President Dongfang, may I ask what you don't like to eat?"
"Fish, duck, goose, celery, radishes, green beans, eggplant, corn, garlic, onions, broccoli, potatoes, tomatoes..." Dongfang She frowned, lost in thought.
Yu Jin’s hand, currently selecting vegetables, froze. Three black lines appeared on her forehead. "Why don't you just tell me what you *do* like to eat!"
"Uh. I don't seem to have any particular favorites. Why are you so troublesome? Can't you just make something simple?" Dongfang She snapped. For a workaholic like him, eating was merely a chore, and when suddenly pressed to name his preferences, he truly couldn't think of anything.
Yu Jin: "..."
Who is the troublesome one, really?
Forget it. Yu Jin didn't want to waste any more breath on him. She bought ingredients based on Fire’s tastes, thinking that since they were father and son, their palates shouldn't be too different, right?
After paying, Dongfang She’s true nature as a pampered scion of a wealthy family emerged. He walked ahead empty-handed, leaving Yu Jin, a delicate woman, to struggle behind him carrying two heavy bags of groceries. As people in the large supermarket pointed and whispered, Yu Jin could only sigh.
"Mr. President, couldn't you be a little more gentlemanly?" After tossing the items into his car, Yu Jin complained while rubbing her hands, which were reddened by the plastic handles.
Dongfang She suddenly leaned over from the driver's seat and planted a kiss on her fair cheek. "Can't help it, I'm a patient. There, consider that a reward—a kiss for you, and we're even."
Yu Jin covered her face, tears streaming down. I don't care about your stinky kiss!
The luxury sports car roared down the road, running every red light in its path. In the passenger seat, Yu Jin’s face turned deathly pale, her hands clutching her chest tightly, terrified that her cowardly little heart might just jump right out of her body.
