Chapter 20: I, I, I Am Truly Calm!
Yu Jin regretted her words the moment they left her lips. In which novel does a cold, arrogant, and domineering male lead choose milk over coffee? Wasn't she just asking for a scolding?
To her surprise, Dongfang She merely frowned slightly before giving a nod. In truth, milk wasn't bad; he was simply accustomed to coffee to keep his mind sharp.
Yu Jin felt as if she were in a dream. She walked out with her head bowed, and a moment later, she returned holding a steaming cup of milk. To prevent Dongfang She from finding fault due to any potential germaphobia or pickiness, she had gone out of her way to place the cup on a small tray, presenting it to him with the utmost respect.
"Come here." Seeing her timid, shrinking demeanor, a flicker of displeasure crossed Dongfang She's eyes. He beckoned to her with a gesture that was effortlessly charismatic. Some people are born with the innate power to seduce; with just a casual flick of his fingers, Yu Jin was already dizzy, losing all sense of direction.
"Why do you always keep your head down? Could it be that you've done something to wrong me?"
At these words, Yu Jin snapped her head up, her bright eyes filled with sheer terror! Could he possibly still remember?!
"I, I..." Yu Jin didn't know what to say; she could only repeat the word "I" over and over again.
Dongfang She narrowed his eyes, clearly enjoying the sight of her embarrassment. Suddenly, he reached out, his long arm hooked around her, and he pulled her petite frame into his embrace. The scent—unfamiliar yet strangely evocative—brought him a sense of both peace and agitation. Where on earth had he seen this woman before?
"President! You..." Yu Jin was scared out of her wits. What was he doing?
Dongfang She raised an eyebrow. "A hug won't kill you."
Yu Jin cried out internally. Who said President Dongfang didn't dip his pen in the company ink? He did! He really did!
"President, this is an office. Please, maintain some professional decorum." Yu Jin finally found her voice and struggled, but Dongfang She remained unmoved. He was interested in this woman now, and he didn't care if they were in an office or in the middle of a crowded square.
"You are my personal assistant. Personal..." He intentionally breathed a puff of hot air against her ear, lingering on the word "personal" with an ambiguous tone.
What a jerk! So this was what a "personal" assistant meant! And what was with that rogue tone? "The Master"?
"Assistant Yu, would you be interested in rolling in the sheets together?" Dongfang She laughed, his shoulders shaking. He said it as casually as if he were commenting on the weather or deciding what to have for lunch.
Yu Jin turned crimson from head to toe, completely shell-shocked by his words! Dongfang She certainly lived up to his reputation!
"The Chief Secretary warned me that President Dongfang doesn't prey on his own staff. I know you're just testing me, President. Don't worry, I'm very composed."
"..."
"Um, I still have work to do. Could you please..." She shifted, feeling something uncomfortable pressing against her from below.
"Don't move!" Dongfang She barked, causing her to freeze instantly. Sensing the object prodding her lower back, Yu Jin’s brain short-circuited for a second before it began to spin rapidly!
Ahhh! It was that!
"President, please let me go! I, I, I really am composed! I will absolutely never try to seduce you! I promise to work hard every day and ignore everything else!" Yu Jin’s face turned deathly pale. Hearing her tone, Dongfang She narrowed his eyes dangerously.
The way this woman spoke was so similar to that wretched woman from years ago!
Dongfang She released her waist and pushed her away. In an instant, the atmosphere dropped to freezing. He demanded in a cold voice, "Were you originally from G City?"
Yu Jin's heart gave a violent jolt. She hurriedly straightened her clothes, not daring to look up. "I... I immigrated when I was very young. I've been studying in the United States ever since, and I only just returned recently."
