Truly, there were thousands upon thousands of applicants for the interview, and Yu Jin had no idea what stroke of luck she had, managing to breeze through all the rounds and emerge successfully from among a thousand candidates.

When she called her beloved, she was nearly in tears! Could it get any more melodramatic?

The woman standing before her was dressed in professional attire, sharp and refreshing—clearly a formidable character.

Gu Lan adjusted her glasses and appraised Yu Jin.

According to her resume, she indeed held an impressive academic background: at just 24 years old, she had earned an MBA from Columbia University. Yet, surprisingly, she had no internship experience whatsoever.

Why had Assistant Qin specifically singled her out to replace Secretary Gao?

Judging by her pretty face, could she be Assistant Qin’s girlfriend?

“Secretary Yu, starting today, you’re officially part of the secretarial team. Begin with the most basic tasks; I’ll arrange for someone to guide you.”

No matter the reason—after all, beautiful women were trouble. The previous Secretary Gao was a living example; she was currently behind bars, serving a life sentence, or so the rumors said.

“Okay.” Yu Jin’s head ached. Why was she chosen? Clearly, she was the weakest among them!

“Remember one thing once you enter the company: don’t harbor unrealistic hopes about the president. Although President Dongfang is quite the womanizer, he has one basic rule—he absolutely never gets involved with those close to him! Understand?”

Gu Lan gave her a sudden warning, leaving Yu Jin bewildered. She was just a junior secretary—how could she possibly have anything to do with Dongfang She?

Besides, she was busy avoiding him! There was no way she would ever indulge in such fantasies about him.

“Understood!”

Suddenly, Yu Jin felt a shiver of apprehension, as if something was about to happen.

Seeing her slight nervousness, Gu Lan took her on a tour around the secretarial office, instructing Secretary Jin to take her under his wing before returning to her own work.

Secretary Jin was fond of gossip. Seeing that Yu Jin was beautiful and personally recommended by the head secretary, he immediately sensed there was an interesting story here. He slid his office chair over on tiptoes and leaned close to her, sniffing about.

“What are you doing?” Yu Jin shuddered. Why did he act like a little dog?

“I think I smell some scandal brewing,” Secretary Jin said, roughly the same age and also a stunning beauty, evidently handpicked.

It was hard to imagine that all of Dongfang She’s secretaries were not only young and beautiful but capable as well. Even harder to imagine how someone like her—big-chested but brainless and utterly useless—could attract attention.

“Get lost. There’s nothing going on,” Yu Jin buried her head in the files. Since she was here now, she might as well settle in. To avoid being mocked by her dear little one, she had to arm herself with knowledge.

“Tch, no fun at all,” Secretary Jin rolled his eyes and got to work.

For seven consecutive days, Yu Jin never caught a glimpse of the legendary president. This only confirmed to her that she could work in peace without worrying about being recognized by Dongfang She.

One day after work, Yu Jin went to the supermarket to buy ingredients.

Her son had been studying too hard lately, so she decided to reward him with his favorite canned fruits. She headed straight to the aisle dedicated to canned desserts.

Fate, however, had other plans. Just as she picked out a can and turned around, a breathtakingly handsome face suddenly appeared inches from hers!

“Oh my god!” How could it be Dongfang She? Yu Jin’s hand trembled, and the can slipped from her grasp!

In the blink of an eye, Dongfang She deftly hooked the can with his toes, catching it before it shattered on the floor.

He handed the can back to her, but Yu Jin recoiled as if she had seen a plague god, terrified beyond reason. Without even managing a proper thank you, she fled in embarrassment.

Dongfang She stood there, surprised, watching her awkward retreat. A deep light flickered in his dark green eyes. This woman—she seemed a bit afraid of him?

“She, what’s wrong with you?” a sultry woman coiled around his arm like a snake.

Dongfang She’s brow twitched with disgust, a faint smile curling his lips. “Nothing. Just ran into an employee from the company.”
