Chapter 13: Dongfang She Does Not Prey Close to Home

The Air Tower stood majestic and imposing in the heart of G City, nearly seizing the entire city's economic lifeline.

Sunlight pierced through the clouds, casting a radiant glow over the skyscraper, its towering height exuding an enigmatic aura.

On the 99th floor, in the CEO’s office, the atmosphere was tense and unsettling.

Seated in the grand chair was Dongfang She, his fiery red hair wild and unruly. He sat with legs apart and feet propped up, radiating an arrogant air. His innate aura of dominance pressed down on the entire room.

Though careless in life, he was meticulous when it came to work. As it stood now, mistakes had been made, and someone had to be held accountable.

The incident at Huahai Construction, which caused casualties among the workers, demanded responsibility.

“Explain what happened,” he said calmly, his tone measured yet carrying the weight of impending judgment. His deep eyes were cold and noble.

“President, it really wasn’t my fault. The evaluations I conducted earlier were flawless. The data was entered personally by Secretary Gao!” The engineer from Huahai Construction was flustered and genuinely confused. He had no idea what went wrong, but now that lives had been lost on the site, it appeared his assessment had indeed been flawed.

“Secretary Gao, what do you have to say?” Dongfang She’s cold gaze was chilling in its intensity.

“President, at such a critical moment, how could I be careless? I input every word of data myself. There’s absolutely no error. The problem must be with his calculations!” Secretary Gao responded firmly.

“You’re lying! My evaluations have never been wrong!” Dongfang She snapped.

“Do you dare swear on your conscience again?” Secretary Gao stepped closer, the strong scent of her perfume making the engineer instinctively recoil. “Do you deny accepting bribes from the other party?”

“You...” he stammered.

“That night, they invited you to dine at One Line Sky, and I happened to be there. I saw everything.” Secretary Gao smiled eerily, then straightened proudly, chest thrust out.

She had good reason for confidence—her mature and seductive beauty, coupled with an outrageously alluring figure, was undeniable. Stepping forward, she pressed her body against Dongfang She’s, her eyes dripping with temptation. “President, why keep someone like that around? Are you waiting for him to keep betraying the company’s secrets?”

As she spoke, her hand began to wander restlessly, tracing a light circle on his chest, mimicking a soft, suggestive sound while the other hand squeezed her own ample curves, revealing a tantalizing prospect.

A wicked gleam flashed in Dongfang She’s eyes as he smiled playfully, “Indeed, he cannot be kept.”

Secretary Gao pressed closer. She had long heard rumors of the Air Group’s CEO—known for his charm and many affairs—but no woman had ever truly captured his heart. Since joining Air, she had fantasized about a fiery office romance with him.

Yet, Dongfang She inwardly snorted with disdain, a wave of disgust surging in his eyes. This woman was far too presumptuous. No matter how much he loved to play the field, he would never stoop to consorting with someone so close to home. It was utterly repugnant.

“Looks like Secretary Gu hasn’t taught you proper discipline,” he suddenly said coldly. He yanked her hand away and forcefully flung her to the ground. Just then, the office door swung open, and Special Assistant Qin Ye entered with an indifferent expression.

“Sir, the investigation is complete. Secretary Gao conspired with the other party to betray company secrets.”

Dongfang She’s eyes narrowed sharply, piercing Secretary Gao like a bayonet. She was shocked and about to speak when officers from the Major Crimes Unit arrived and took her away.

Following closely behind was Chief Secretary Gu Lan, her face filled with sorrow. Another secretary would need to be found.

“President, rest assured, I will find a replacement for Secretary Gao immediately!”

“Don’t hire any more corrupt wolves!” Dongfang She snapped in anger. It was infuriating how any stray dog thought they could lie in his bed!

“Yes!” The chief secretary was stunned and fled hastily.
