In the cozy little house, the air was thick with tension.

“Mommy…” The little one pouted, his pair of emerald green eyes sparkling brightly.

“Tell me, what’s going on with your eyes?” Back home, Yu Jin, furious and unable to hold back any longer, finally let her inner storm explode.

Fire knew he had upset Mommy, so obediently he took out a box of potions from the drawer and laid it in front of Yu Jin.

Yu Jin stared at the sharp needle of the syringe and felt a chill run down her scalp. Gritting her teeth, she demanded, “What are these things?”

“They were developed by Uncle Charles,” Fire bit his lip, reluctantly betraying Charles. “They can change the color of your pupils.”

“What kind of harm do these pigment additives do to your body? How could you be so naughty?!” Yu Jin nearly flipped the table.

“No, Mommy, these don’t have any added pigments, they’re all natural extracts. So far, the effect only lasts two hours and needs further improvement…” Seeing Yu Jin’s face grow darker by the second, Fire wisely fell silent.

Yu Jin frowned, the way he spoke made it sound like it was his own invention. But then she thought again—it was only a five-year-old child; it couldn’t be.

“How did you even run into that heartless man?” Yu Jin asked again, her heart fluttering despite calling out to Dongfang She as the villain.

“Pure coincidence, just a coincidence.” Fire smiled innocently.

Yu Jin’s smile was forced and cold as she pinched his fair cheek fiercely. “I remember before you left you said you’d meet your ungrateful father and clean up after him. I didn’t expect it to really happen. Now, tell me, what have you been hiding from me?”

Fire’s mouth twitched, a trio of black lines appeared on his forehead.

Who said Mommy’s intelligence was low? She was definitely not easy to fool! o(︶︿︶)o Sigh.

“Yu Huo’er! You better tell me the truth!” Yu Jin lost it completely and slapped his little bottom twice.

Fire was no longer calm. Mommy had just used his full name! That meant she was really angry! The consequences would be severe!

“Mommy, it really was a coincidence…” Fire dragged out his words, trying to act cute and win forgiveness.

“A coincidence, and you ended up with your eyes like that?” Yu Jin obviously didn’t believe him. Who goes out to eat and ends up wearing such a crazy potion?

“This isn’t a biochemical weapon…” Fire added silently in his mind. It wasn’t going to kill anyone.

“Charles is such a bastard! Giving something so dangerous to a child! Bastard!” Yu Jin ground her teeth.

Charles was an American doctor who loved scientific research, eccentric and peculiar in character. Six years ago, when Yu Jin was at her lowest, he took her in, changed her nationality and identity, and had been taking care of them mother and son ever since.

This time, returning to their homeland, Charles handed them a large sum of money—and unexpectedly, these little syringes!

Yu Jin’s face shifted between pale and flushed. The little one sighed inwardly. Sorry, Charles, but this time it’s better to cut losses and protect the king.

“What other weird and strange potions did he give you?”

“None…” All these experiments were initiated by Fire himself. How could that big dummy have thought of such advanced things?

Fire lowered his head, looking genuinely repentant.

Yu Jin sighed silently. Maybe she had been too harsh. She pulled the little one close, tenderly ruffling his hair. “Don’t mess with these things anymore. Medicine always has risks, and Mommy doesn’t want her precious child to suffer.”

She recalled the time two years ago when Fire’s medication mishap caused a relentless fever, and now couldn’t help but shudder at the memory.
