Chapter 42: The Six Forms of the God of Slaughter
Chapter 42: The Six Forms of the God-Slayer
Xue Xiang and Xue Nian were currently squatting on the dragon’s head, studying something intently.
"Big sister, do you think this snake would be delicious?" Xue Nian asked, her mouth practically watering.
The flood dragon shivered visibly, a flicker of panic flashing in its eyes.
Xue Xiang shook her head. "I don't think it would be very tasty, because there’s no pot big enough to stew it in!"
The flood dragon breathed a slight sigh of relief, but then Xue Xiang added:
"Though, we could string it up and roast it. That should taste pretty good!"
The flood dragon was on the verge of tears. It had been living peacefully at home when a group of people suddenly arrived, first trying to steal its treasures, and then giving it a sound beating. Most importantly, this man was terrifyingly powerful. Not only had he beaten the dragon until it was dizzy on the shore, but underwater, a single punch had nearly flattened it into a meat patty.
In the world of monsters, where the law of the jungle prevails and the strong are respected, total submission was only natural after being thoroughly defeated. That was the sequence of events after they went underwater.
One punch. That was all it took to crush a flood dragon in the water. And that wasn't even the end of it. At that very moment, the distant mountain peaks suddenly shook, and a rumbling sound echoed from deep underground. While everyone else was struck with awe, only the flood dragon knew that this was merely the aftershock of Xue An’s single punch. The memory of that earth-shattering strike made the dragon tremble with lingering fear.
Yet, Xue An was not entirely satisfied. In the past, a single punch from him could annihilate an entire galaxy. But now, with less than one in a billion of his former strength, this was the best he could do.
Thus, the first form of the Six Forms of the God-Slayer, "Moving Heaven and Earth," could finally be considered somewhat mastered. There were five more forms to follow. Together, they formed the Six Forms of the God-Slayer—the signature technique that had once allowed Xue An to gallop across the universe and build his formidable reputation as the Immortal King.
Xue An smiled at the two little girls, who were still discussing how to eat the dragon. "Alright, alright, stop talking, you’re going to scare it to tears. Come down now."
The flood dragon lowered its massive head to the ground with total docility, and Xue An scooped up the two little girls as they climbed down. As the dragon turned to leave, Xue An suddenly patted its head.
"Although your bloodline is mediocre, to have cultivated to this level is not bad. I’ll help you out—may you become a true dragon sooner."
The flood dragon shuddered, looking at Xue An with immense gratitude. Xue An smiled faintly. "No need to thank me. But I must tell you, in the vast universe, there are countless dragons. If you only wish to become a dragon, that is simple. But I sense a trace of something unusual in your bloodline. If you are willing to defy the heavens, who knows what you might achieve..."
He left the rest unsaid, as he felt the chances were astronomically slim. The flood dragon sank into the water and departed. Xue An had just imparted a demon-cultivation technique to it, which, for a creature that had relied solely on self-study to reach its current strength, was an invaluable treasure. It was now eager to begin its practice.
Xue An turned his gaze toward Song Yi, who was still muttering to himself, and shook his head. If this man could not overcome this mental barrier, he would not only fail to progress but could suffer a backlash, potentially even dying of a sudden shock.
Xue An untied the ropes binding Xue Lan, who looked at him with some trepidation.
"Brother An..."
Xue An smiled. "Don’t be afraid. I don’t eat people! I’ve just had some unusual experiences over the past few years."
Xue Lan lowered her head. Xue An sighed slightly and turned to leave, but Xue Lan suddenly looked up. "I’m not afraid! As long as you are Brother An, I’m not afraid of anything!"
Xue An smiled faintly. Huo Hemin had vanished with the wind; it was all over.
Only Chen Rushi felt dejected. Because the flood dragon had emerged from the water, most of the medicinal herbs had been swept away into the pool, meaning this trip had effectively ended in failure. Thinking of her grandfather, whose illness grew worse by the day, Chen Rushi felt a burning sense of anxiety.
Just then, she stared in astonishment as the two little girls began pulling lotus seeds out of the small pockets of their dresses.
"These are so yummy!" Xue Nian tossed one into her mouth.
Xue Xiang nodded. "But there are so few of them, just this many!"
The two girls, ignoring Chen Rushi’s shock and dismay, ate them one by one as if they were simple snacks.
"Don't... don't eat them!" Chen Rushi said, pained.
"Huh? Auntie... what’s wrong?" Xue Xiang turned to look at her.
"Little girls, where did you get those lotus seeds?"
"Daddy picked them for us when we were in the water just now!" Xue Nian said, eating another one.
"Yeah, and Daddy said we could just eat them as snacks!"
Chen Rushi was on the verge of madness. He picked them up casually... and just handed them to the two little girls to eat as snacks? What was this man thinking? These crunchy, delicious lotus seeds were legendary, divine medicine—the Profound Yin Lotus Seeds, capable of bringing the dead back to life and regrowing flesh on bones!
"Little girls, could you give one to Auntie? I’ll trade you lots and lots of snacks for them, okay?" Chen Rushi pleaded, looking like a kidnapper trying to lure children.
"Then... I want ten bags of spicy strips!" Xue Nian said first.
Xue Xiang tapped her sister’s head. "Auntie Xuan’er said that eating too many spicy strips will make you ugly! Let’s trade for chocolate mushrooms instead!"
"Mm-hmm! That works too!" Xue Nian nodded eagerly.
Chen Rushi hadn't expected it to go so smoothly. Xue Xiang took a lotus seed out of her pocket. "Auntie, what do you need this for?"
"Auntie has a patient at home who needs to eat this!"
"Oh, I see!" Xue Xiang thought for a moment, then pulled all the lotus seeds out of her pocket. Xue Nian did the same, though she hesitated for a second and popped one more into her mouth before handing the rest over.
"Auntie, you can have them all!"
Chen Rushi was stunned, looking into the pure, gem-like eyes of the two adorable little girls. She said with a trembling voice, "Little sisters, you are..."
Xue Xiang said earnestly, "Auntie, before Daddy came back, we spent every day hoping he would return. Since you have a patient at home, you must be hoping they get better too. Take them all!"
Chen Rushi suddenly felt like crying. She had been trying to scheme against them, yet these two little girls had hearts of gold. But would their father—that mysterious man—agree? Chen Rushi felt a bit nervous.
Xue An, who had been watching from the side, smiled gently. "Whatever I give to my daughters belongs to them. They can do whatever they wish with it."
Chen Rushi gritted her teeth and pulled a delicate white-gold card from her person. "Sir, these are too precious. I dare not ask for them all; three will suffice. This card is a small token of gratitude from the Chen family. Please, accept it!"
