Chapter 21: The Problem Girl (Third Update)
“Yo, you’re eating!” The girl tossed her schoolbag onto the floor and spoke in a flat tone.
The moment Old Xie saw her, his temper flared.
“Why are you only coming back now? Where have you been?”
The girl was none other than Old Xie’s daughter, Xie Jingjing.
She answered with obvious indifference, “Nowhere. I went racing with a few friends for a while.”
Her attitude infuriated Old Xie, and he was about to lose his temper.
Aunt Pang, who could not bear to see her daughter scolded, quickly said, “Jingjing, look who’s back!”
“Whoever it is,” Xie Jingjing replied carelessly as she headed toward the inner room.
At that moment, Xue An sighed and called softly, “Jingjing.”
Xie Jingjing, who had seemed utterly unconcerned, froze when she heard his voice. Then she looked at Xue An, seated there with a faint smile on his face, and tears burst from her eyes.
“L-Little An?” she stammered.
There was still a trace of disbelief in her voice.
Xue An smiled and nodded. “It’s me. I’m back.”
Before he could say anything more, Xie Jingjing rushed over and flung herself into his arms, bursting into loud sobs.
The atmosphere instantly became somewhat awkward.
Fan Mengxue and Tang Xuan’er exchanged a glance, then calmly continued eating as though nothing had happened.
“Little An, where have you been these past four years? Everyone said you were dead, but I knew you weren’t, because I dreamed about you all the time.”
Feeling the girl’s tears soak through his chest, Xue An was filled with emotion. He reached out and patted the top of Xie Jingjing’s head.
“All right now. You’re a grown young woman already. Are you still going to cry like a little girl?”
Xie Jingjing raised her head. She had cried so hard that her makeup was completely ruined.
Looking at her comical appearance, Xue An could not help laughing.
Realizing how disheveled she looked, Xie Jingjing hurriedly covered her face and dashed into the inner room.
Xue An looked at Aunt Pang and Old Xie and smiled. “Jingjing has grown up so much.”
“Isn’t that the truth? Now that you’re back, you have to talk some sense into her. She listens to you more than anyone else,” Aunt Pang said.
Old Xie was delighted. He lifted his glass and had another drink with Xue An.
Just then, Xie Jingjing came back out after washing her face.
Without all that messy makeup, she looked fresh and charming. She slowly made her way to Xue An’s side.
“You haven’t eaten yet, have you? Come and sit down,” Aunt Pang said quickly, her heart aching for her daughter.

Xie Jingjing, however, noticed Xue Xiang and Xue Nian. Her eyes reddened.
“Are these… your daughters, Little An?”
Xue An nodded.
“Then who are these two?” Xie Jingjing asked, pointing at Tang Xuan’er and Fan Mengxue.
“Jingjing, how rude!” Aunt Pang said angrily.
Fan Mengxue merely smiled. “It’s all right, Auntie. I like Jingjing.”
“They’re my friends,” Xue An said.
“Just friends?” Xie Jingjing pressed.
Xue An laughed helplessly. “If they aren’t friends, then what are they?”
Xie Jingjing seemed relieved. Her smile returned, and she sat down beside Xue An.
“Big Sisters, let me offer you each a drink first!” Xie Jingjing said to Fan Mengxue and Tang Xuan’er as she filled a glass.
Old Xie’s face darkened. “Stop fooling around!”
Fan Mengxue waved her hand, then filled her own glass. “All right. I’ll have a drink with you.”
With that, Fan Mengxue drained her glass in one swallow.
Xie Jingjing gritted her teeth and finished hers as well.
But afterward, her cheeks flushed red.
Fan Mengxue, on the other hand, showed no reaction at all.
In truth, Fan Mengxue could have drunk another bottle of liquor without the slightest difficulty.
There was nothing she could do about it. Embarking on a career in entertainment meant facing countless banquets concealing ill intentions.
To protect herself, Fan Mengxue had trained her tolerance to an almost frightening level.
Xie Jingjing poured herself another glass and turned to Tang Xuan’er. “Big Sister, let’s have one together too!”
Tang Xuan’er hesitated slightly. At that moment, Xue An lifted his glass.
“What? After four years apart, your drinking capacity has improved quite a bit.”
Xie Jingjing lowered her head.
Xue An put on the stern air of an elder brother. “Just look at the way you dress. Do you look anything like a student? And now you’re drinking too? Did you think that because I wasn’t around, you could do whatever you wanted?”
Tears of grievance began rolling down Xie Jingjing’s cheeks.
Xue An softened his tone. “Since you want to drink, then I’ll have one with you.”
As he spoke, Xue An drained his glass.
Xie Jingjing gritted her teeth and emptied hers as well.
This time, her eyes had already grown hazy.
Xue An set down his glass. “Let this drink be the end of it. Starting tomorrow, I want to see a well-behaved Xie Jingjing. Understood?”

Xie Jingjing looked at Xue An and nodded. Then she collapsed, drunk, onto the table.
Aunt Pang hurried over, but Xue An waved her off. “It’s all right. Let her sleep it off.”
He placed a hand on Xie Jingjing’s shoulder and sent his vital energy into her body, helping to dispel the alcohol.
“Hm?”
Xue An let out a quiet sound of surprise. Xie Jingjing actually possessed the rare Pure Yin constitution.
This constitution was one in ten thousand and was ideally suited for cultivating pure-yin arts.
However, it also attracted the covetous attention of many sinister practitioners.
At present, Xie Jingjing’s body had not yet fully matured, so its nature had not revealed itself.
Moreover, once she lost her virginity, the Pure Yin constitution would be destroyed.
It seemed that although Xie Jingjing was rebellious, she had not actually done anything too outrageous.
The thought brought Xue An a measure of relief.
The meal lasted for a long time.
Only when the two little girls, Xue Xiang and Xue Nian, were so sleepy that they could barely keep their eyes open did Xue An help the thoroughly drunken Old Xie into the house.
As he was leaving, Aunt Pang took hold of Xue An’s hand and said sadly, “Little An, I’ve always thought of you as my own son. Don’t disappear again. Come visit us often.”
Xue An smiled. “Don’t worry, Aunt Pang. I won’t leave this time.”
Xue Xiang and Xue Nian had already fallen asleep, so Xue An simply picked them both up, one in each arm.
Their little heads rested against his shoulders. Their faint snores stirred tiny currents of air that tickled Xue An’s neck, soothing his heart into stillness.
Once they had left the restaurant, Xue An asked Fan Mengxue, “Which hotel are you staying at? I’ll take you there.”
Fan Mengxue lowered her head. “I… didn’t get a hotel. I came straight to Dragon Emperor Terrace as soon as I arrived in North River.”
“Uh… What about you, Xuan’er?”
Tang Xuan’er answered quietly, “I’m staying in the hospital dormitory, but by now… the doors have probably been locked.”
“Then why don’t you both stay at my place for tonight?” Xue An suggested.
“Mm.”
Fan Mengxue and Tang Xuan’er lowered their heads and answered in unison.
In her sleep, a tear suddenly gathered at the corner of Xie Jingjing’s eye. She murmured, “Little An, don’t leave me! When I grow up… I’m going to marry you!”
Aunt Pang, who was tidying up inside, heard her words. She stood stunned for a moment before sighing.
“Silly girl. Your Little An isn’t an ordinary man.”
