Chapter 19: Are You... Really Xiao An? (Supplemental Update)

Qin Yu looked at Xue An with some nervousness.

Xue An nodded. “Yes, I can do it.”

Qin Yu was overjoyed. “Great, I’ll come to pick you up in three days.”

Xue An agreed mainly because he thought the Qin family was decent enough. Besides, he had nothing pressing at the moment, so he considered it a favor on the way.

“But this auction you mentioned—does it have anything unusual about it?” Xue An asked.

Qin Yu shook his head. “Every year, the Beijiang Merchants Association organizes auctions irregularly, and the proceeds are donated. This time is no different, so there’s nothing extraordinary. Mr. Xue means...”

“Whoever targeted your grandfather, although weak in cultivation, was still a cultivator. Since he’s attending this auction, there must be something that attracted him.”

Qin Yu frowned. “Then I’ll investigate it thoroughly when I return.”

“No need. We’ll see how things unfold in due time,” Xue An said calmly.

Qin Yu saw that Xue An didn’t seem to take it seriously but still felt a trace of worry deep down.

Qin Yu had witnessed Xue An’s medical skills firsthand and never doubted them. Yet, Xue An might possess secret techniques, and if he were to lose, the consequences would be dire.

What Qin Yu hadn’t told Xue An was that the Longtai Group had effectively become Qin Tian’s empire. Many only knew of Qin Tian now, unaware of Qin Yuan.

This all stemmed from the past year when Qin Yuan had neglected management, consumed by his illness. Now that Xue An had finally cured him, the Longtai Group had slipped out of his control.

Therefore, if Qin Tian wasn’t defeated this time, both Qin Yuan and his grandson would face grave danger.

Qin Yu remained deeply unsettled by this.

After expressing his thanks, he hurried away.

Xue An turned to his two daughters. “Xiangxiang, Niannian, have you eaten enough?”

Xue Nian shook her head first. “No, Daddy, I think the food here tastes awful!”

Xue Xiang said, “Daddy, I’m not full either.”

“Alright then, I’ll take you somewhere else to eat, okay?”

“Yay! Yay!” Xue Nian nodded energetically like a little chick pecking at rice.

Mention food, and the little girl’s eyes sparkled.

Xue An glanced at Fan Mengxue.

Fan Mengxue had been staring at Xue An since earlier. Especially when Qin Yu appeared, a strong sense of crisis surged within her.

This girl was strikingly beautiful and, crucially, came from a much wealthier family.

The Longtai Group was a renowned leading enterprise in the province, paying billions in taxes annually.

This made Fan Mengxue feel deeply inferior.

She had thought that her efforts over the past four years might bring her closer to Xue An, only to realize she was even further away.

Xue An smiled faintly. “Sorry, looks like I ruined your birthday party.”

Fan Mengxue shook her head. “If it weren’t for coming back to see you, I wouldn’t have attended that so-called birthday party at all.”

“Come on! I’ll take you all for a feast!”

They arrived at a small restaurant nestled in a residential area.

Though the storefront was narrow, it was exceptionally clean and tidy.

It was already past nine at night, and there were few diners left.

Old Xie was preparing to clear the tables and close up soon.

Just then, the door was pushed open, and a group entered one after another.

Leading them was a man with a faint smile at the corner of his lips.

He had a tall, upright figure, and beneath his sword-like brows were eyes as dazzling as stars, inspiring an urge to submit.

Old Xie was stunned, vaguely feeling the man looked familiar.

Following the man were two little girls, as delicate as carved jade.

They were incredibly adorable and, more importantly, looked exactly alike.

The diners in the restaurant took notice of this scene.

Old Xie was about to speak when two women entered behind them.

Their arrival quieted the once lively restaurant.

One of the women wore a long dress, her appearance elegant and her aura like a rare orchid in a secluded valley.

The other, though masked, revealed through her graceful brows and slender figure that she must be a stunning beauty.

Old Xie was dumbfounded.

At that moment, Xue An smiled faintly. “Uncle Xie, don’t you remember me?”

Old Xie shuddered all over. That voice... was so familiar!

“You... you are...?”

“I’m Xue An!”

Old Xie still found it hard to believe at first but, after a moment’s careful look, shouted joyfully, “Xiao An! Is it really you?”

Xue An nodded.

Old Xie called out excitedly, “Wife, come out quickly! Look who’s back!”

Old Xie’s wife, Aunt Pang, now in her fifties, was busy in the kitchen. Hearing his shout, she came out.

“Who’s making such a fuss?”

“It’s Xiao An! Xiao An is back!” Old Xie said happily.

Aunt Pang stared at Xue An, stunned at first, then said in disbelief, “You... are really Xiao An?”

Looking at this couple, a warm current surged in Xue An’s heart.

Back when he and An Yan were at their most difficult, barely able to get a meal each day, Xue An had worked odd jobs at nearby construction sites.

At lunchtime, he couldn’t even afford a meal.

This couple, who ran the small restaurant, saw his plight and selflessly helped him.

Though it was only a few meals, Xue An never forgot their kindness.

As he came often, their relationship grew closer.

When they learned that Xue An’s wife was pregnant and about to give birth, Aunt Pang, moved with concern, often packed fresh country eggs and other local produce for Xue An to bring home to An Yan.

Xue An remembered these little acts of kindness vividly.

He nodded toward Aunt Pang with a smile. “Aunt Pang, I really am Xiao An.”

Tears welled up in Aunt Pang’s eyes. She stepped forward, grabbing Xue An’s shoulders. “Xiao An, where have you been these four years? Your Uncle Xie and I searched everywhere for you. Many said you were gone, but I believed the heavens would protect such a good child.”

(Heaven: Aunt Pang, don’t tease me. Me protecting him? It’s a miracle he hasn’t hit me yet! He’s an Immortal Lord, after all!)

Xue An had cultivated for three thousand years, his Dao heart as solid as a rock, yet at this moment, he couldn’t help but be moved.

“Aunt Pang, didn’t I just come back?”

“That’s good, that’s good! You old fool, why are you standing there grinning? Hurry up and clear the tables! Then close up. Xiao An is back—we have to celebrate properly!”

“Yes, yes!” Old Xie replied hurriedly.

Xue An smiled inwardly, realizing some things never changed: at home, Old Xie had no say; Aunt Pang was the one calling the shots.
