Chapter 15: My Sister Was Right!
Chapter 15: Sister Is Right!
Many thought they had misheard.
Was Xue An... crazy?
Hong Ming’s face darkened as he sneered coldly, “Xue An, remember not to beg for mercy later.”
Xue An smiled faintly. “That advice seems more fitting for you!”
At that moment, Fan Mengxue interrupted them, “Hong Ming, today is my birthday. You’d better not cause trouble!”
Hong Ming snorted and stepped back with a sullen expression.
Inside, Song Jing was quietly delighted.
Let them quarrel.
The fiercer the fight, the better!
Hehe, if Young Master Hong truly loses his temper with that wretched Fan Mengxue, then I might have a chance to rise.
Song Jing’s mind was already scheming.
Fan Mengxue glanced at Xue An with some worry.
Xue An smiled and shook his head gently, signaling her not to fret.
Tang Xuan’er stood up then. “Today is Mengxue’s birthday. It’s not easy for her to come back even once. Let’s all toast her!”
Everyone rose, and Xue An lifted his glass, raising it toward Fan Mengxue from a distance.
Fan Mengxue finally smiled brightly and downed her drink in one gulp.
Pop.
The champagne was opened.
When the twelve-tiered cake was pushed in by the waiters, the atmosphere reached its peak.
But this time, all eyes and conversations centered on Hong Ming.
A tide of flattery washed over him.
Many eagerly complimented Hong Ming, hoping to secure positions under his command.
After a few drinks, Hong Ming grew somewhat intoxicated and waved his hand grandly.
“Don’t worry, we’re old classmates. I’ll help where I can.”
“Long live Young Master Hong!”
“Young Master Hong is truly extraordinary!”
Glasses clinked repeatedly.
But Xue An seemed forgotten, not a single person casting him a glance.
Hong Ming then gestured for silence, reached into his pocket, and pulled out a small box.
Inside was a diamond ring of at least five carats.
“Mengxue, happy birthday!”
Hong Ming’s gift silenced the entire room.
Song Jing’s jealous eyes practically burned with fire.
Fan Mengxue lowered her gaze and shook her head gently. “Hong Ming, I can’t accept this gift.”
“Why?”
“It’s too extravagant!”
Hong Ming laughed heartily, “Just over a million yuan—no big deal!”
At that moment, an innocent, childlike voice sounded.
“Daddy, this ring isn’t as big as the one you bought me on the street!”
Everyone’s attention turned to the speaker.
Xue Xiang put down her chicken drumstick and said seriously, “Really, Daddy bought me a really big ring on the street!”
Many couldn’t help but laugh at Xue Xiang’s innocence.
Song Jing smiled mockingly. “Little girl, the ring your daddy bought on the street was probably no more than five yuan. Young Master Hong’s ring is worth over a million!”
“Is a million a lot?” Xue Xiang blinked her eyes and asked.
“Of course!”
Xue Xiang shook her head. “But I think whatever Daddy buys is definitely the best in the world!”
Xue Nian swallowed her meat and nodded eagerly, “Sister is right!”
Xue An chuckled softly, patting the little heads of Xue Xiang and Xue Nian. “That’s right. Whatever Daddy gives you must be the best!”
“Daddy, I want to give Auntie Mengxue a gift!” Xue Xiang declared.
“Go ahead! If it’s yours, you can give it to whoever you want!”
Xue Xiang nodded, jumped down from her chair, and solemnly walked over to Fan Mengxue, presenting the small ring Xue An had bought her.
“Auntie Mengxue, happy birthday!”
Fan Mengxue looked at the delicate little girl and couldn’t help but smile, accepting the ring. “Thank you! What’s your name?”
“My name is Xue Xiang, and my little sister is Xue Nian.”
“Xue Xiang, Xue Nian...” Fan Mengxue murmured the names, a trace of bitterness flashing through her heart.
That girl must have really liked him too.
At that moment, Song Jing sneered, “Some people really know how to save money—buying a five-yuan ring on the street as a gift?”
Fan Mengxue frowned; Song Jing was truly detestable.
Suddenly, Fan Mengxue made a soft exclamation and examined the ring closely.
Then she was shocked.
Since becoming famous, Fan Mengxue often endorsed major jewelry and luxury brands, so her eye was discerning.
She was certain this ring was no ordinary street vendor’s trinket.
On the contrary, the quality and purity of the ring made it an unparalleled treasure.
There was no way something like this could be bought at a roadside stall!
Hong Ming’s face darkened; the continuous setbacks had already pushed him to the edge of losing control.
Now that Fan Mengxue even refused to accept his gift, Hong Ming lost the last shred of patience.
He snatched the ring from Fan Mengxue’s hand and threw it viciously to the ground.
Fan Mengxue was furious. “Hong Ming, how dare you throw the gift Xue An gave me on the ground?”
Hong Ming sneered coldly, “Mengxue, that worthless junk means nothing. Why keep it? Xue An, if you can’t afford a proper gift, don’t bother buying one. Who are you trying to fool with plastic?”
Xue An sighed and stood up slowly, picking up the broken ring. Then he pointed a finger at Hong Ming.
“Ten million.”
“What?” Hong Ming was baffled.
“I said since you smashed the ring I gave, you owe me compensation. For old times’ sake, ten million it is,” Xue An said calmly.
Hong Ming stared at Xue An as if he’d lost his mind. “Are you crazy? This ring is worth a thousand yuan tops—that could buy you a hundred like it!”
Song Jing sneered, “This is extortion!”
“So, you don’t intend to pay up?”
“Why would I pay you!” Hong Ming cursed.
But in the next moment, he paid the price for those words.
Xue An suddenly grabbed an ashtray from the table, seized Hong Ming by the hair, and struck him four or five times with it.
Everyone was stunned.
Blood streamed instantly down Hong Ming’s head.
Song Jing screamed, but her cry was cut short as Xue An grabbed her throat and said coolly, “If you don’t want to die, be quiet. Understand?”
Song Jing nodded in terror, seeing the cold, superior look in Xue An’s eyes.
She had a premonition—if she disobeyed, Xue An would not hesitate to snap her neck.
Hong Ming, dazed from the blows, recovered and his face twisted with rage.
“Xue An, you’re dead! I swear I’ll kill you!”
Xue An nodded calmly. “Looks like you’re still not convinced.”
Then, with a composed expression, he raised the ashtray again and struck Hong Ming repeatedly.
Smash.
Until the ashtray finally shattered.
Only then did Xue An release his grip.
Hong Ming could no longer stand and collapsed to his knees, blood flowing down his temple.
Xue An said softly, “I think now we can calmly discuss the matter of compensation.”
The room was filled with shocked eyes.
No one expected the once gentle and refined Xue An from their school days to suddenly unleash such violence.
Only Xue An knew he could reduce Hong Ming, Song Jing, and the others to ashes without effort.
But that wouldn’t affect the demons within.
The only effective way was making those who had bullied him pay a thousandfold price.
Now, fear finally flickered in Hong Ming’s eyes as he looked at Xue An.
He had never dreamed Xue An would suddenly beat him so ruthlessly.
