Chapter 51: Certainly Not a Woman from an Ordinary Family
"You stinking wench, looking to stick your nose into other people's business?" Yun Qinshu walked over and tapped Yun Qiange between the eyebrows with her scrawny, withered finger, sneering dismissively. Her weasel-like, wretched eyes scanned Yun Qiange up and down with utter contempt, looking at her as if she were merely an ant she could crush at any moment.
Yun Qiange casually brushed her brow with a light sweep of her hand, her gaze growing gradually dark and heavy. "Who gave you permission to touch me?"
Her fist suddenly clenched, and with lightning speed, she struck Yun Qinshu right in the face. Yun Qinshu staggered backward in pain, only to be kicked fiercely in the stomach by the young woman. With a loud *bang*, Yun Qinshu felt as though she had been batted away like a ball, crashing violently into a steamed bun stall.
The little stall shattered like a bursting firework, sending splintered wood and steamed buns flying in all directions.
"Oh my, my buns!" cried out the elderly stall owner in heartbreak.
"What are you howling for? I'll pay you back!" Yun Qinshu roared fiercely, instantly startling the old woman into silence. Proppping herself up, she scrambled to her feet, rubbed her backside, and shrieked furiously at the group of guards behind her, "What are you idiots standing around for? Get her!"
"Can you run?" Yun Qiange rubbed her forehead, a headache coming on.
"Huh?" The young man was dumbfounded.
"Sorry, I don't have inner energy. So... run!" Yun Qiange swiftly grabbed Dongfang Mingxuan's hand and bolted, convinced her speed was now fit to compete in the middle-and-long-distance events at the Olympic Games.
Lacking inner energy, she had no way of sensing whether others possessed it. Relying purely on physical martial arts for combat put her at a severe disadvantage; until she acquired inner energy, she had to exercise restraint.
Heh, an elite agent of the twenty-first century, reduced to being restricted and at the mercy of others in this strange world—how utterly ridiculous. Yun Qiange's grip tightened, a faint chill radiating around her. Sensing the firmness of her grip, Dongfang Mingxuan looked up at her. Though her eyes remained cold, they resembled the starry night sky, inexplicably instilling a sense of safety within him.
The young woman ran at such a dizzying speed that he could only perceive countless flashing scenes blurring past amidst the rushing wind. Yet, he simply... couldn't run anymore...
Dongfang Mingxuan gently pulled his hand away. He smiled at her with a pale face, his eyes filled with gratitude, yet shimmering with unshed tears. "My lady, Mingxuan can run no further. Thank you for saving me, but Mingxuan... no longer wishes to drag you down with me."
"What foolish nonsense are you uttering? If that's the case, you shouldn't have provoked me in the first place." She reached out and caught a tear that suddenly slid down his cheek, the corners of her lips curling upward in a soft tone, her eyes brimming with a transparent warmth.
"Ah!" Dongfang Mingxuan let out a startled gasp as the young lady effortlessly hoisted him up into the air with her bare hands.
At that moment, the sky was as crystalline and pure as a sapphire. The woman, wearing a black veil, lifted the young man high by his waist in an upward-thrusting posture. The sunlight cast its glow upon his panicked face and her eyes, clear and bright like the autumn moon reflecting in a void. It was as though all the clamor in his world had suddenly ceased. He simply stared, momentarily entranced, as a spark was gently struck in some corner of his heart, blossoming into a brilliant, dazzling kaleidoscope.
By the time Dongfang Mingxuan came to his senses, he was already seated within the low branches of a modest tree. He sat squarely in the fork of the boughs, positioned precisely one arm's length higher than the height of an ordinary person.
With a complex expression, he looked down at the young woman below, who was already engaged in combat with the cluster of guards. This woman was observant and meticulous; though devoid of inner energy, it was evident her martial prowess was extraordinary. Fully aware of her lack of inner energy, she nonetheless assessed the situation shrewdly and never acted recklessly. Combined with her noble and aloof demeanor, she... could certainly not be an ordinary woman from a common household.
