Chapter 13: Little Ancestor, What Tantrum Are You Throwing Now?

Uncle Meng knocked on the tea room door.
“Young master, Mr. Lin Hide from Hide Hospital is here to visit the matriarch. He wants to greet you along with his family.”
Hide Hospital was merely a third-rate hospital in Xiangjiang.
But ten years ago, on a day when the highway was congested, Madam Gu was stuck in traffic and suffered a heart attack. Lin Hide’s car was right behind hers. Lin Hide saved Madam Gu during her medical emergency, thus becoming a benefactor to the Gu family.
Following that, Hide Hospital rose to become one of the top hospitals in Xiangjiang.
The tea room door opened, and a refined, elegant man stepped out, accompanied by the scent of tea. Dressed in a tailored suit, dignified and composed, no one could guess the ruthless side he displayed toward Su Ruanruan.
Su Ruanruan curled her lips, realizing he was nothing but a hypocrite!

The sharp and slender Lin Hide walked through the garden with his two daughters.
He whispered, “Dafu, Xiaofu, you must behave well in front of President Gu. If you succeed, our Lin family will enjoy boundless wealth and honor! You both will rise alongside your family, becoming the most prestigious and dazzling women in Xiangjiang!”
The ambition in Dafu and Xiaofu’s eyes mirrored Lin Hide’s own, proud and confident.
“Don’t worry, Dad. With our beauty, which man could resist us?”
Lin Hide nodded with satisfaction.
Many wealthy suitors had come seeking his daughters’ hands, but he had refused them all.
His wife even blamed him for ruining their daughters’ marriage prospects.
Such narrow-mindedness!
The Gu family’s debt of gratitude to him would be repaid someday, so Lin Hide had already prepared a plan.
He raised his daughters like blooming flowers, teaching them music, dance, and painting, while rejecting all suitors. No one in Xiangjiang could find girls prettier or purer than them.
Even if they could, Lin Hide wasn’t afraid—he wasn’t sending just one daughter to serve Gu Jinzhou, but both.
What man could refuse a pair of beautiful and pure sisters?
“Mr. Lin, ladies, please follow me this way,” said Uncle Meng.
Lin Hide glanced at the rosewood twelve-panel screen with silk embroidery in the main hall, a national treasure-level antique that was just an ordinary decoration in the Gu household—a true display of extreme wealth and boundless luxury.
Following Uncle Meng, Lin Hide entered a quiet, secluded side room.
Gu Jinzhou crossed his long legs and set aside some unimportant documents he had been reviewing.
Uncle Meng hurried forward to tidy up.
Lin Hide stood awkwardly to the side until Gu Jinzhou looked at him and smiled, greeting him, “I hope we’re not disturbing your work, President Gu.”
Gu Jinzhou replied, “Not at all.”

He gestured for Lin Hide and the two young ladies to sit down.
Dafu and Xiaofu sipped the floral tea served by the servants with restraint but couldn’t help secretly eyeing the noble and elegant man before them.
They had always heard from their father how Gu Jinzhou controlled all of Xiangjiang’s economy, how he held the global economic lifeline in his hand, and how the mere stomp of his foot could shake Asia. But they had no real concept of it.
Meeting the man in person turned all their confusion into reverence and admiration, and their ambition blossomed like spring water.
Lin Hide said, “The matriarch looks very well, even better than the last time we met. It’s clear she has the signs of longevity!”
Gu Jinzhou responded with a simple “Hmm.”
Lin Hide continued, “An old person in the home is like a treasure. The matriarch’s health is more important than anything else. She is the steady anchor of the family.”
Gu Jinzhou nodded again.
Lin Hide didn’t want to waste time on such empty talk, but he needed to buy time for his daughters to make a good impression on Gu Jinzhou.
At that moment, the melodious piano music suddenly surged like a storm.
All eyes were drawn toward the source.
In front of the understated yet luxurious Steinway, a stunningly beautiful girl sat. Her slender, fair fingers danced swiftly across the keys, leaving behind fleeting shadows.
In his past life, Lin Hide had only one daughter; in this life, he had two. Su Ruanruan knew the narrative was playing tricks again. She feared nothing else but the story’s power to control Gu Jinzhou. If Gu Jinzhou actually accepted the Lin sisters, what would become of her?
Dafu and Xiaofu had already imagined themselves as “President Gu’s women,” casting jealous and hostile glances at Su Ruanruan.
Who was she?
Why was she allowed to play the piano here?
Dafu stretched her fingers—her most cherished asset—slender, fair, flawless. However, the pianist’s hands were even whiter and more delicate, the nails glistening with a pearly sheen, clearly more pampered.
Xiaofu bit her lip. She prided herself on her milky white skin but could not compare to the glowing fairness of the pianist.
Lin Hide’s eyes flickered. “Is that Miss Ruanruan?”
Dafu and Xiaofu looked at their father in curiosity.
Who was Miss Ruanruan?
Was she a member of the Gu family?
Gu Jinzhou’s narrow, clear eyes softened with a gentle smile. “Yes, that’s Ruanruan.”
Lin Hide said, “I heard Miss Ruanruan has found her family. Judging by how free and unrestrained she is, her biological parents must adore her.”
So she wasn’t a Gu.
If she had found her biological parents, why was she still clinging to the Gu family?

Dafu was displeased but knew she had no right to say anything.
Xiaofu stood and smiled brightly at Lin Hide and Gu Jinzhou.
“I can play this ‘Symphony of Fate’ too. Why don’t Miss Ruanruan and I play a duet?”
She walked forward as she spoke. She had to seize the chance herself. Since coming in, Gu Jinzhou hadn’t once looked directly at her, and she was not willing to accept that.
Su Ruanruan was nearly finished with her piece when someone approached and sat down on her piano bench. She immediately stood.
“Ah—”
Xiaofu took advantage and fell.
She collapsed onto the carpet, her fair, alluring figure on display. Tears blurred her contact lenses and eyeliner as she blinked seductively at Gu Jinzhou.
“It wasn’t Miss Ruanruan who pushed me; I just slipped. President Gu, could you please help me up?”
Su Ruanruan was speechless. What era was this? Did they think there were no surveillance cameras here?
Uncle Meng instructed the servants to help her up.
This kind of crude seduction was truly an eyesore!
Gu Jinzhou’s voice turned cold and stern.
“Lin Hide, what do you take me for? And what do you think the Gu family is?”
Lin Hide hurried to explain, flustered.
“No, President Gu, you misunderstand. I just brought my two daughters out to see the world.”
At this point, his dignity was nothing compared to the immense wealth before him.
“President Gu, if you find Dafu and Xiaofu obedient and lovely, I can leave them here. Surely, someone as noble as you needs many attendants.”
Gu Jinzhou’s expression darkened with disdain.
“Don’t insult the words ‘obedient’ and ‘lovely’.”
Lin Hide turned pale and dared not speak again. The plan to marry off his daughters this way seemed doomed.
Suddenly, a palm-sized teddy bear flew through the air in a parabola and struck Gu Jinzhou’s face.
Lin Hide’s expression froze.
This Miss Ruanruan was bold indeed—daring to hit Gu Jinzhou’s face. Was she courting death?
Dafu and Xiaofu watched eagerly, thinking even a favored concubine in ancient times wouldn’t dare publicly slap the emperor’s face. Su Ruanruan was surely doomed!
Gu Jinzhou picked up the teddy bear and approached, his presence thunderous and decisive, as if ready to crush anyone who dared insult him.
Yet his voice was humble, sinking to the dust.
“My little ancestor, why are you throwing a tantrum again?”
The onlookers exchanged glances.
Was President Gu really so doting?
