"Wait!"

Just as she returned to her office and her body barely touched the seat, Vivian suddenly stood up, accidentally knocking over the coffee on her desk. In an instant, the dark brown liquid spilled all over the surface.

However, she had no time to care about that. Her eyes widened to the size of brass bells, filled with a flash of astonishment. She muttered to herself, desperately trying to reassure herself, "No way, it can't be..."

That woman just now...

Wasn't she the exact person the Boss had once instructed her to investigate? What was her name again?

Her name was... Tang Wan?!

Yes, it was her. How could it possibly be her?

Though she desperately tried to comfort herself with words, deep down she was already certain that the woman who had kissed the Boss in the elevator was indeed Tang Wan.

During that fleeting glance earlier, while Vivian had been struck by the woman's beauty, she hadn't looked into it any deeper.

Never in her wildest dreams would she have expected this woman to be the very same one Vivian had once investigated—an art school graduate, an orphan, a vain and vulgar gold-digger!

Had she not reviewed Tang Wan's file and seen her makeup-free photographs, she would never have dared to confirm it. After all, judging from their encounter just now, the two were entirely different women without a single trait in common.

One was fresh, elegant, and refined; the other was enchanting, alluring, and vulgar.

How could they possibly be the same person?

Yet the truth lay unmistakably before her eyes, leaving her no room for disbelief.

However, she wondered if the Boss knew about this, and whether she should remind him.

Lost in a daze, a girl walked in. She wore a ponytail, had a youthful and delicate face, and was dressed in an ill-fitting blue professional suit.

At a glance, she spotted the dark brown liquid flowing across Vivian's white desk, which had already soaked several pages of documents. She hurried over in a few swift steps and cried out anxiously, "Oh dear, how did this happen? The documents are all soaked!"

While speaking, she nervously began to clean up the mess on the desk.

Her loud exclamation snapped Vivian out of her deep thoughts. Recovering her senses, Vivian saw the young girl flusteredly wiping up the spilled coffee.

Vivian frowned, somewhat displeased by the girl's overreaction. But remembering that she was a student under her mentor's tutelage, entrusted to her special care, she refrained from saying too much. Instead, she simply took the documents from the girl's hands, glanced at them, and said with a serious expression, "Han Guoguo, don't make such a fuss over everything from now on, understand? Also, you need to knock before entering my office. Fortunately, it was just me today, but what if there had been a client here next time? Would you want our clients to think that the Song Corporation is a place just anyone can walk into casually?"

"I, I..." Han Guoguo bit her lip in embarrassment, stammering a defense, "I just heard a noise in the office and came in to check because I was worried..."

Instead, Vivian was so exasperated she almost laughed. She casually tossed the files back onto the desk—they had backups anyway—and retorted, "Heh, what does being worried have to do with whether you knock or not? Did you knock? Huh?"

"N-no... B-but I really was just worried..." Han Guoguo's eyes reddened, and tears welled up in them. She couldn't understand why her clearly good intentions were met with such reprimand.

"Why are you crying?" Seeing this, Vivian tightly knitted her brows in annoyance.

Did she scold her? Did she hit her?

Compared to how she treated other subordinates, her attitude toward her was already exceptionally gentle, wasn't it?

"I'm not..." To Vivian's surprise, the moment the words left her mouth, Han Guoguo's tears began to fall like a broken string of pearls, while she sobbed and emphasized, "I didn't d-do it on purpose. I was just worried about you..."

Damn it!

Vivian pinched the bridge of her nose, fighting down the impulse to hit someone, and waved her hand. "Get out! Don't let this happen again!"

Watching Han Guoguo sob her way out of the room, Vivian sank back into her swivel chair, her mood even more irritated.

When someone makes a mistake, they've made a mistake. Is it really that hard to just say "I'm sorry" and promise not to do it again next time?

Or did Han Guoguo truly believe she had done nothing wrong?
