Chapter 29: Addressing Some Reader Questions

Many readers have mentioned to me that Zhong Yan doesn't seem like the Geo Archon at all, lacking his steady temperament and distinct aura.

Actually, this is perfectly normal. That unique presence of the Archon was forged over thousands of years of warfare and the centuries spent protecting Liyue.

However, in his previous life, Zhong Yan was merely a 19-year-old student, and in this life, he is only 12. It is impossible for him to be the Archon yet; a personality similar to Venti’s is, in fact, exactly what Zhong Yan should have at this stage.

Of course, since I intend to write this as a multiverse-travel story, the purpose is twofold: first, to explain the origin of the Gnosis, and second, to allow Zhong Yan to travel through different worlds—to witness, to participate, and eventually to become a true Archon. A simple world like Douluo Dalu cannot achieve this.

Next, regarding the matter of contracts: in my conceptualization, Zhong Yan must sign a contract with the consciousness of each world. Otherwise, why would they let him in? They don’t know him; what if he goes in to cause destruction?

To Zhong Yan, the meaning of a contract is greater than anything else. As for the title of "God of Martial Arts," it was earned through countless battles. I do not want to portray Zhong Yan as a warmonger like Tartaglia. If he doesn't experience sufficient combat and relies solely on some sort of inheritance, I feel he would not be worthy of the title of Martial God.

I hope, more than anything, for Zhong Yan to become a traveler.

Furthermore, I have already decided on the second world after the Douluo Dalu arc concludes. It will be a heartwarming, slice-of-life world. One reason is that there are very few fan fictions for this world, and I find them insufficient to satisfy my cravings; the second is that I need to gather suggestions from you for future worlds, which will give me time to flesh out the outlines and plots for what lies ahead.

I am not in a rush regarding these suggestions. I will need your input, though I must also consider whether I am capable of writing them. Any world—be it from anime, games, or novels—is welcome.

As for Teyvat, I do not wish to involve it for the time being. HoYoverse leaves "plot pits" everywhere, but the actual story progression is far too slow. I certainly do not want to base my writing on mere conjecture, only to find out in the end that everything I wrote was completely wrong.

Take Naruto, for example: those authors who finished their fan fiction before the series concluded never dreamed that Madara Uchiha wasn't the final boss and that Kaguya would follow.
