Since they began training together, it had become easier for Xing Haotian and Wei Zi to interact, yet their relationship had only progressed from enemies to slightly familiar strangers. In truth, their actual progress was almost zero.

This deeply frustrated Xing Haotian. Wei Zi was like an iceberg; forget about warming her up, even getting close to her was a monumental struggle. She was the perfect embodiment of the saying, "The mountain looks near, but the horse dies of exhaustion before reaching it."

"Boom!" Wei Zi punched the attack testing instrument. After a brief calculation, the display settled on the number 78.

In reality, without the infusion of mysterious energy, one point of attack on the machine equaled one kilogram of punching force. An average woman’s punching force hovered around 20, while men were significantly stronger, usually upwards of 50. The standard for a mercenary, however, was 100.

In the span of a week, Wei Zi had been increasing her strength at a rate of nearly 10 kilograms per day. But strength was secondary; the most important factor was speed.

Supported by Xing Haotian’s medicinal baths and specialized diet, Wei Zi’s physical agility had improved drastically. In just one week, her speed had actually caught up to what it was in her previous life. Even so, she was still a long way from the limits of the human body. If one were to categorize physical strength into grades, Wei Zi hadn't even reached the limit of Grade G.

"That's enough for today," Xing Haotian said.

Wei Zi nodded and went to take her medicinal bath, while Xing Haotian went to record her training progress to adjust her regimen for the following day.

"Ding-dong!" The doorbell rang. Xing Haotian checked his communicator and was surprised to see Zhao Qian, dressed in a snow-white nurse's uniform.

He didn't have a high opinion of Zhao Qian, but out of politeness, he opened the channel and asked, "Dr. Zhao, is something the matter?"

"General Xing, since your fire toxicity has been cleared and your last physical report was excellent, Dean Xue didn't need to come personally. He sent me to conduct a routine check-up," Zhao Qian replied.

"Wait a moment," Xing Haotian said. Without suspicion, he left the basement and opened the villa door to let her in.

The check-up took place in his study. Zhao Qian took out her equipment and began the examination.

"General Xing, could you take off your outer shirt? Our hospital just received a new temperature scanner that measures blood flow and heat; it’s perfect for your condition. Let’s give it a try," Zhao Qian suggested.

To Xing Haotian, Zhao Qian was merely a medical professional, so he didn't hesitate to remove his shirt.

Zhao Qian’s face flushed; she looked intoxicated, her eyes dazed as she gazed at Xing Haotian’s broad shoulders and chest. With a racing heart, she said, "Take off your trousers, too."

"That shouldn't be necessary," Xing Haotian frowned, feeling displeased. He looked at her expression and recalled the conversation she’d had with Wei Zi previously, sensing that she was up to no good.

"Well... alright then," Zhao Qian stammered. She turned her back to him, bit her lip, and loosened the top two buttons of her own uniform. She looked back over her shoulder, her eyes fluttering, and cast a seductive, provocative wink at him.

She reached out to touch his bare chest, but Xing Haotian caught her wrist in mid-air.

"Dr. Zhao, what are you doing?" he demanded.

"General Xing, am I beautiful?" Zhao Qian suddenly leaned in, her eyes heavy with seduction, bending over to reveal her cleavage.

Xing Haotian’s face remained cold and he didn't answer. Encouraged, Zhao Qian pressed herself against him, breathlessly saying, "General, I like you. Could you hold me?"

Instead, Xing Haotian released her arm, grabbed his shirt, and put it back on. Then, with a swift movement, he grabbed her by the collar, hoisting her into the air as if she were a small chick.

Zhao Qian’s seductive nurse’s uniform became twisted instantly, the loosened collar pulling tight against her throat. She felt a wave of discomfort and difficulty breathing, followed by sheer terror.

"General, what are you doing? Put me down!" she shrieked.

Xing Haotian said nothing. He carried her out of the study and down the stairs.

Zhao Qian screamed louder, paralyzed by fear. She was terrified he would simply throw her down. At 1.9 meters tall, Xing Haotian was an overwhelming presence to someone like her, who barely reached 1.6 meters. With her feet dangling in the air and the sensation of weightlessness, she panicked.

"General, I was wrong! I won't do it again, please put me down!" Only then did she realize the truth behind the rumors at the military hospital. He really was a demon; he had no sense of chivalry and was dragging her out in such a humiliating fashion.

Just then, Wei Zi finished her bath and emerged from the basement, only to see Xing Haotian carrying a woman whose face was twisted in terror.

Wei Zi’s eyes widened, confused by the sudden scene. Who was this woman? A spy? An assassin? Trying to assassinate Xing Haotian? She must have a death wish!

Zhao Qian had been struggling, but as the collar choked her, she could no longer scream. Just as she thought she was going to die, her feet finally touched the ground—though it was hardly a graceful landing. Xing Haotian tossed her out the villa door like a bag of trash.

"Bang!" The door slammed shut in front of her. Through the glass, Zhao Qian could see Xing Haotian’s stern, cold face, showing not a shred of mercy.

"Waaaaah!" Zhao Qian burst into tears of humiliation. She had summoned so much courage to offer herself to him, only to be thrown out. Feeling utterly wronged, she pounded her fists against the ground, but after a few strikes, her hands began to ache, and she ran off, sobbing.

Wei Zi had witnessed the entire scene and found it baffling. She couldn't help but ask, "Who was that woman?"

"That Dr. Zhao who handled your IV drip last time," Xing Haotian replied.

"Dr. Zhao? Why was she wearing a nurse’s uniform?" Wei Zi asked, still puzzled.

Xing Haotian was silent. How could he tell Wei Zi that the woman was trying to seduce him? In his eyes, Wei Zi was the only female creature that mattered. If she were the one wearing a nurse's uniform, he wouldn't need any seduction—he would have pounced on her immediately.

Seeing his silence, a flash of realization crossed Wei Zi’s mind. "Oh, I see!"

As a mercenary, Wei Zi had spent most of her life in the company of men. Since female mercenaries were so rare, and the men were often crude and unfiltered, she was "well-versed" in such things.

So, that Dr. Zhao was trying to play a little game of seduction, was she? She certainly had guts!

"I have nothing to do with her!" Xing Haotian hurriedly explained.

If he had something to do with her, he wouldn't have tossed her out like that, Wei Zi thought with amusement. She waved her hand dismissively and said, "You don't need to explain to me."

There was no need for it, and she had no desire to know about these aspects of Xing Haotian’s life. She was nobody to him, and she had no obligation to care.
