After Wei Zi had experienced Xing Haotian’s training grounds, the time neared two o'clock. The two returned to the first floor, where the lawyer Xing Haotian had arranged for arrived right on time.

The person Xing Haotian had secured was the Imperial Capital’s most renowned gold-standard lawyer. Even though Wei Zi was not personally acquainted with him, she had heard of his reputation and knew he was highly reliable. Wei Zi presented the original contract for his review. Because the contract was extensive and involved property deeds and land titles, it took the lawyer a full hour to finish examining it.

"This is a very comprehensive transfer of inheritance," Lawyer Zeng stated. "Essentially, once Miss Wei Zi comes of age and signs in the presence of a lawyer, Mr. Cheng Qingzhu’s assets—including the seven hotel chains under the Cheng Group, a resort, and various other real estate holdings—will all belong to you. It is quite straightforward to resolve."

"I know it isn't difficult," Wei Zi replied with a cold sneer. "But I am not skilled at managing a company. Once I obtain these assets, how could I possibly compete against Wei Dongming? That is why I sought your services, Lawyer Zeng: I intend to sell these shares once the contract takes effect."

"Sell them?" Lawyer Zeng looked surprised, though his expression soon shifted to one of appreciation. "Miss Wei Zi, your vision is truly unique. In fact, this is the best course of action, yet very few people have the resolve to let go."

After a moment of thought, Lawyer Zeng asked, "What exactly does Miss Wei Zi wish to sell? Do you have a preferred buyer in mind, or do you intend to put them up for public auction?"

"Only the shares; I will naturally keep the land titles and property deeds," Wei Zi said. "As for the target, I would like you to help me contact the third young master of the Leng clan, President Leng Lie."

"President Leng?" Lawyer Zeng’s brow furrowed; he sensed a complication.

The Leng clan was a prominent family in the Imperial Capital of the Huatian Kingdom, recognized as one of the four top-tier noble houses and a prestigious lineage of arcane practitioners. Among the younger generation, although Leng Lie had a decent reputation and possessed a sharp business mind, thriving in the commercial sector, he was considered a disgrace to the Leng clan. Not only was he an illegitimate son, but he was also an ordinary person who had failed to awaken an arcane core. To an arcane family, such a person was no different from a waste.

However, Wei Zi had her reasons for choosing him. Because of her mother’s history, Wei Zi harbored a deep hatred for illegitimate children and mistresses. Yet, with the experience of her previous life, she held many secrets. For instance, Leng Lie’s mother was actually a legitimate daughter of the Leng clan who had committed suicide after giving birth out of wedlock. Leng Lie had been raised by his uncle, and the Leng family had treated him poorly. He was inherently gifted, possessing profound cunning even at a young age; he had not only hidden his true strength as an arcane practitioner but also made great strides in the business world.

If that were all, Wei Zi would not have paid him such close attention. The true reason was that in the future, the S-rank Iron-Blooded Mercenary Group—a force so powerful that the entire mercenary world would tremble at its mention—was revealed to be secretly backed by Leng Lie.

It was only after his identity as the hidden mastermind was exposed that people finally saw the formidable nature of this overlooked third young master of the Leng family.

To sell her shares, Wei Zi naturally needed someone capable of suppressing Wei Dongming—someone who could not only inflict a heavy blow upon him but also provide benefits to her. The plan to secure funds, punish Wei Dongming, and build a connection with the future mastermind of the Iron-Blooded Mercenary Group was, to Wei Zi, a flawless strategy of killing three birds with one stone.

After further discussion, Lawyer Zeng prepared to draft the contract. He needed at least a preliminary version before he could negotiate with President Leng; otherwise, why would a man as busy as President Leng meet with a sixteen-year-old girl who had yet to come of age? Of course, if he were doing it as a favor to the Huatian Kingdom’s General Xing Haotian, the man might deign to appear. However, Wei Zi did not want to do that. She wanted to negotiate with President Leng as an equal to ensure she received the respect and price she deserved.

With the lawyer secured, Wei Zi felt a major burden lifted, and her mood improved. She opened her communicator and chose to receive the messages she had previously blocked. For the past two days, she had been avoiding Wei Dongming’s pursuit and had kept the device blocked, using it only for the time, taking photos, or checking her reflection.

As expected, once the device was opened, it exploded with notifications, drawing the attention of Xing Haotian beside her. Wei Zi paid no mind, skimming through the messages with a cold sneer. Most were from Wei Dongming, He Xiaohe, Wei Xuan, and Wei Qing, arriving in a veritable bombardment. There were a few others from Zhou Xiaoya, and among them, a voice message from Wang Ling.

"Wei Zi, I heard you're okay. I just went to the hospital to see Zhou Xiaoya. Are you alright? I recall your birthday is coming up soon. If you have time, let's go out; I'll treat you to a big meal to celebrate!"

Wang Ling’s nasal voice echoed from the communicator. Xing Haotian’s body immediately went rigid. A man—or rather, a boy. He felt a sudden, intense sense of unease, as if a combat alarm had been triggered within him.

"Hmph!" Wei Zi sneered, deleting the message instantly, then opened the communication from Zhou Xiaoya.

"Wei Zi? Where are you? Did you go to the Arcane Bureau?"

"Wang Ling actually came to the hospital just now, and he had the nerve to ask about you. Who was it that pushed us aside and ran away earlier? I don't think a man like that is reliable at all!"

Was that really a boy Wei Zi liked? Xing Haotian felt his heart shatter. Could it be that Wei Zi had someone she loved, and that was why she couldn't accept his advances and hated him so much? That would explain why she ignored him! But the girl on the communicator had said that man was unreliable. A glimmer of hope rose in Xing Haotian; he was a General of the Huatian Kingdom and was certainly reliable. He refused to believe he was inferior to other men.

Just as Xing Haotian was contemplating how to ask Wei Zi about this, the doorbell rang. Wei Zi was still busy with her communicator and didn't notice, but Xing Haotian went to open the door, only to see the person he least wanted to see: Li Meiyu. And to his surprise, her father was with her.

"Minister Li, Miss Li," Xing Haotian said with a slight nod.

"Little Xing, it’s like this," Li Pingsheng said with a jolly smile, patting his large belly. "When my daughter returned today, she mentioned she had left you out in the wilderness yesterday. I felt terrible about it, so I brought some gifts to apologize. Please forgive us; I’ve spoiled my daughter too much since she was young, and she’s become quite headstrong. I hope you can overlook this!"

Xing Haotian sneered inwardly. Headstrong? That was putting it mildly. He doubted she had even gone home after returning to the Imperial Capital yesterday; she had likely gone straight out to indulge herself.
