Wei Zi could see nothing but darkness, as though she were reliving that night—the night she had once sunk into, devoid of even the faintest glimmer of light.

Xing Haotian finally removed his military trousers and kicked off his combat boots before pressing down over her once more. This time, his attention shifted to Wei Zi’s fair thighs. He could not bear to tear himself away from them, and his eyes shone with a savage light. It was as though a beast had broken free from its cage within him, stirring his desire to a fever pitch and awakening something buried deep in his subconscious.

Some things were almost instinctive. Even without ever having experienced them, Xing Haotian somehow knew what to do.

He forced apart Wei Zi’s constantly struggling thighs and pushed himself between them. Her resistance grew even more frantic.

“Xing Haotian, please let me go! Let me go! I’ll find you as many women as you want—as long as it isn’t me, as long as it isn’t me!” Wei Zi’s face was deathly pale as she pleaded desperately. Her voice echoed through the cavern. She was utterly terrified.

Drawn by her cries, Xing Haotian lifted his head to look at her. His eyes were bright as the sun, yet devoid of reason, filled only with the light of an animalistic lust. His gaze seemed almost tangible, its heat unbearable.

He did not hear Wei Zi’s words—or rather, they were merely sounds without meaning, the cries of prey that only magnified his overwhelming desire to conquer.

Wei Zi felt something larger and hotter pressing against her. She closed her eyes in despair. In the next instant, Xing Haotian lowered himself with unshakable force. His rigid body pierced into her, breaking through the barrier within.

“Ah! It hurts!” Wei Zi’s eyes flew wide. Her entire being seemed to collapse, as though she had fallen back into the nightmare of that night from her former life. It hurt—truly hurt. Her heart ached, and her body seemed to split apart, leaving her pale cheeks twisted with agony.

“It hurts. It really hurts. Let me go, let me go!” Wei Zi wept, completely lost in the memories of her previous life.

Xing Haotian let out a low growl. It felt as though he had entered a moist, secluded chamber, cool and soothing, calming all the violence within him and bringing peace to both body and mind. Even the dark threads in his eyes seemed to recede slightly.

A sliver of reason returned to him. Seeing Wei Zi’s pallid face and hearing her murmur in pain, he forcibly restrained his desire to plunge deeper. Lowering his head tenderly, he kissed her with the gentlest touch, trying to awaken her consciousness.

Perhaps because Xing Haotian had not acted with complete brutality, Wei Zi gradually regained awareness amid that pitch-black night. She stared blankly at Xing Haotian, whose face was mere inches from hers, then let out a choked sob as more tears spilled down her cheeks.

But as her cries changed, Xing Haotian seemed to receive some kind of signal. He kissed her even more gently, again and again, while slowly moving below until he had entered completely.

“Ah…” Xing Haotian sighed in satisfaction.

Wei Zi swallowed a sob and seized his hair with all her strength, wishing she could tear out a handful. Xing Haotian was still restraining himself. He slowly withdrew, then slowly pressed forward again, waiting for her to adjust, yet showing no sign of stopping. Each movement went deeper than the last, allowing Wei Zi to feel clearly the throbbing veins within her and the unmistakable shape of what was invading her.

Xing Haotian released a satisfied, breathless groan, making Wei Zi feel unbearably humiliated. Yet she truly had no way to resist and could only let him have his way once more. The only thing she could do was twist his hair viciously until the pressure cut bloody marks into her fingers.

Xing Haotian caught her hands and freed his hair. Then he placed her fingers in his mouth and licked them repeatedly, as though recalling the delicious ice spikes from earlier.

For some reason, Wei Zi found herself tragically thinking that perhaps this, too, was something she could endure.

She could treat it as being bitten by a dog once more.

But she could not bear the consequences left behind by that bite.

At the very least, she could not allow the fire poison to invade her body.

With that thought, Wei Zi stopped wasting her strength on futile struggles. She had to conserve her energy for one final resistance.

Yet the moment she abandoned her resistance, certain sensations seemed to grow sharper. Xing Haotian found a better angle of attack and raised both her legs onto his shoulders. His thrusts became increasingly forceful. A trace of numbness unexpectedly spread from her lower body, as though he had struck some hidden pressure point, filling her entire body with currents of electricity.

“Mm!” Wei Zi trembled all over and stared at Xing Haotian in terror.

Xing Haotian’s eyes lit up. He thrust harder once more, and Wei Zi instantly lost all strength to resist.

“No, not there!” She could no longer control herself. That particular point seemed to activate some kind of switch, making her tremble and rise and fall with his movements. Something seemed to flow from within her, making it easier for Xing Haotian to move in and out.

Heavens—why was this happening?

Wei Zi was nearly driven mad.

Yet by then, even the strength to struggle had been drained from her. Her entire body moved with Xing Haotian’s rhythm, as though she had fallen into another world.

After an unknown length of time, Xing Haotian let out a low roar. Wei Zi felt a scorching current, hot as molten lava, surge into her body. At the same time, her mind exploded into white light, while a tingling sensation rose from her lower abdomen and spread through every limb.

The overwhelming pleasure made her feel as though she had been transported to heaven.

Yet her happiness lasted only a short while. She clearly felt that the thing inside her, which had just weakened, was swelling once more, as though preparing to fight again.

Wei Zi finally regained her reason. Supporting her upper body with both arms, she clearly saw the impossibly thick, purplish-red organ moving in and out of her body. The black flames of poison and floating runes surrounding Xing Haotian flowed along the point of contact and entered her body.

“No!”

The talent she had gained after being reborn, the path she was destined to follow—she could not allow them to be destroyed like this!

At that moment, her strength seemed to return. Wei Zi abruptly activated her Mystic Core, sending a mass of runes surging downward to collide with the black fire-poison runes.

But her white frost runes were far too few. Even after activating them, she still could not halt the army of poisonous flames.

She could not allow those fire-poison runes to corrode her Mystic Core!

Gritting her teeth, Wei Zi turned her head and saw the Ice-Marrow Fruits placed beside the pool. She snatched them up and swallowed them whole—four of them at once.

She no longer attempted to comprehend the profound runes. Instead, she directed the profound runes that had entered her body downward, using them to destroy the fire-poison runes.

The white frost runes collided with the black fire-poison runes and rapidly annihilated them. The white runes sealed off Wei Zi’s lower abdomen, forming a barrier that prevented the poisonous flames from entering.

At last, the final black rune was destroyed. A delighted smile appeared on Wei Zi’s face. She had protected herself. Her Mystic Core had escaped the invasion of the fire poison. She would become an S-rank powerhouse.

She raised her head and looked at Xing Haotian. The black threads had already faded from his eyes, yet he still stared at her with extreme greed. The light in his eyes seemed to be approaching rationality.

But his body still remained inside Wei Zi, still stirring restlessly and refusing to withdraw, as though reluctant to leave the warmth within.
