Chapter 49: The Little Vampire in the Old Castle 22
——Maybe we can meet again in the future.
Just this brief sentence from Yu Deng caused the blood in Qin Jun's veins to boil. The cold rationality he had always been so proud of was instantly thrown to the back of his mind.
The man reached out and pulled Yu Deng into his arms, holding the pretty little vampire tightly against his chest.
Caught off guard, Yu Deng was pulled forward and stumbled into him, his forehead bumping right against Qin Jun’s chin.
"Hiss! What are you doing..." Yu Deng covered his forehead and glared at him.
They were so close that Qin Jun could clearly catch the sweet fragrance emanating from Yu Deng. It would be no exaggeration to say he was currently over the moon.
"Darling, what you just said... is it true?"
Yu Deng lifted his small chin and nodded. "Of course."
Of course it was true. Anyway, he meant they might run into each other at the player center in the future, not that they definitely would meet. He was being very rigorous.
Qin Jun stared at Yu Deng for a moment without blinking, then lowered his head and buried it in the little vampire's neck.
Qin Jun's heart and mind were entirely filled with Yu Deng right now. He couldn't spare an ounce of energy to consider the triggered extra task, nor did he want to dwell on the subtle suspicious points surrounding Yu Deng.
The only thing he cared about now was this young vampire noble who tugged at his heartstrings. As long as they could meet again in the future, everything else was trivial.
"I'm very glad."
A pale golden thread materialized between them, flickered for less than two seconds, and then vanished.
"Hey, System, did a golden thread just flash a moment ago? Just like the kind that appears when I complete a task."
Held securely in the embrace, Yu Deng wondered if his eyes were playing tricks on him and decided to seek help from the system.
[Please wait, Host, scanning for you.] After about a few seconds, System 01 spoke in a steady voice. [Yes, there was indeed a golden thread just now. Such golden threads are the manifestation of a contract forming. When the target's willingness to form a contract is relatively strong, the golden thread will briefly appear.]
Yu Deng understood and applauded himself inwardly.
That previously aloof task target was actually quite easy to handle after all.
Hmph hmph, he was super awesome at completing special tasks; capturing a player was simply a piece of cake.
"Darling, I want to kiss you."
Having received Yu Deng's assurance, the man's emotions were stirred with uncontrollable excitement, and he remained unsettled for several minutes. Having sought permission as a mere formality, he already leaned in and kissed him.
"Qin Jun...!"
The man kissed him with fierce urgency, reserving his remaining willpower solely for ensuring his werewolf fangs wouldn't hurt Yu Deng. It was an even more passionate kiss than the time Yu Deng had taken the initiative in the game.
The werewolf tail, longer than that of an ordinary wolf, wound around from behind, wrapping tightly around Yu Deng's lower legs while the furry tip flirtatiously brushed against Yu Deng's ankle.
Yu Deng was forced to keep his head tilted back, his lips and tongue left tingling and numb from the sucking, while his ankles were tickled by the sweeping wolf tail.
"W-Why are you kissing me so hard..." Yu Deng turned his head aside to dodge, complaining with uneven breaths.
Qin Jun immediately obeyed, lightening his pressure and soothingly brushing against those flushed lips. "I'm sorry, I'll be gentler right now."
However, Qin Jun couldn't keep kissing for much longer.
Because at that moment, a commotion suddenly arose outside, sounding like other players returning from the side-quest game.
Calculating the time, the task time limit had indeed reached this point.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Yu Deng pushed away Qin Jun—who still wanted to kiss him—and slipped out the door.
Qin Jun's surging desire was left hanging suspended in mid-air. He pressed hard against his knuckles and sighed inwardly. How could he dare to go against the little vampire's wishes and continue kissing him? He could only follow right behind the little vampire to the doorway.
The three-headed hound and the little bat at the door glared angrily at Qin Jun.
Yu Deng peered forward and saw several hurried figures walking down the end of the corridor, purposefully heading toward their rooms.
The female werewolf in the lead was walking very fast. Upon spotting Yu Deng, she slammed on the brakes, carefully giving the three-headed hound's attack range a wide berth, and flashed Yu Deng a complicated smile.
If this smile were to be digitized and broken down, it would be a blend of thirty percent gratitude, thirty percent relief, thirty percent ingratiation, and ten percent a guilty conscience.
Yu Deng: "?"
How bizarre. Why was this lady looking at him as if he were some precious treasure?
[Hahahaha baby, this is the person who sent you straight to heaven.]
[My wife's bewildered look is so cute wuwu, can I have a kiss too?]
[The screen going black earlier really meant they were kissing, right! Dengdeng's eyes and lips are both red!]
In the corridor.
Seeing that the other party was still staring at him, Yu Deng thought for a moment and copied the greeting the Prince had given him before dinner.
"Did you enjoy tonight's game?"
The smile on the female player Xiao Gao's face almost failed to hold. She cursed the instance in her heart while putting on a forced smile on the surface. "D-Decent, quite decent, very thrilling and suspenseful."
At that moment, the instance made an announcement.
[Ding, tonight's special game has concluded.]
[Current number of surviving players: 5 people.]
This electronic broadcast was clearly audible to all players. After processing it for a moment, Yu Deng realized that another player had been whittled down tonight.
He glanced left and right, trying to identify who was missing by comparing the crowd. Let's see... It seemed that the person who had backstabbed the players before the game started was gone?
Oh, did the lady who had just smiled at him roll her eyes?
Yu Deng pondered for several full seconds before connecting her reaction to the system broadcast.
He tilted his head and asked, "Did something happen during tonight's game?"
Xiao Gao was exceptionally patient with this curious little vampire. Are you kidding? The young master was her savior.
"Sort of. In tonight's game, we ran into a human, but he was disgusting and actually tried to use others as shields." Explaining up to this point, Xiao Gao still felt disgusted. "Fortunately, things went relatively smoothly afterward."
After praising Yu Deng endlessly to that werewolf lackey, she had somehow inexplicably established a revolutionary friendship with him, almost forming an on-the-spot Vampire Little Master Support Club, which meant there weren't too many obstacles in the subsequent stages.
She had found some clues about the castle's past in that game room, which Xiao Gao guessed were related to the extra task, but she probably hadn't found the most crucial piece of information and thus hadn't triggered the task.
However, she didn't mind at all. Those clues were already enough to boost her exploration progress significantly; if the extra task wasn't triggered, so be it—keeping her life mattered most.
Hearing this, Yu Deng suddenly thought of something strange.
When players were discovered previously, weren't those non-humans extremely excited? Why did it sound from this female player's description as if Anders's lackeys weren't very interested in sacrifices?
Eh? Come to think of it, it seemed like several of his task targets, as well as Grandmother Witch, also lacked interest in the banquet's traditional game of hunting for human sacrifices.
Unable to figure out the reason, Yu Deng simply decided not to think about it anymore.
After finishing her explanation, the female player bid Yu Deng farewell and left. The chubby guy behind her waited until she finished speaking before stepping forward, also flashing a grateful smile at Yu Deng.
The chubby guy's eyes practically shone when he looked at Yu Deng. After speeding through his expressions of gratitude, he bolted away under Qin Jun's unfriendly glare.
Yu Deng vaguely heard the chubby guy muttering that he was going to bow and pray to him every single day upon waking up.
Yu Deng: "??"
Things that baffled him were increasing once again.
...
During Yu Deng's brief exchange with the players, Qin Jun had reverted to his usual cold, lone-wolf persona. He didn't say a single word, merely standing guard behind Yu Deng.
Watching these players hurry away, Qin Jun wanted to coax Yu Deng back to continue kissing, but was rejected by Yu Deng.
The little vampire threw a small temper tantrum, scolded him for a bit to express his dissatisfaction with Qin Jun's heavy-handed kisses earlier, and then casually pushed Qin Jun back into his room before flying away himself.
Qin Jun: "..."
The young master had a huge temper; he could only humor him.
Yu Deng strolled around outside for a bit, barely feeling full enough that he wouldn't burst anymore.
Along the way, he even ran into Anders. This werewolf chieftain was much more enthusiastic and straightforward than that wolf Qin Jun, immediately inviting Yu Deng to his room, but he was also rejected by Yu Deng.
Yu Deng still remembered that last night, this prey had crushed his muzzle while kissing him—he was far too troublesome.
The bell tower at the castle spire chimed a few times. It was only 10:00 PM, and Yu Deng wasn't sleepy at all; in fact, he felt quite energetic.
Sitting on a sculpture by the stairwell, Yu Deng thought of the main system's repeated urging today.
"System, do you think I should... go and try to complete the Prince's task now?"
[The host can decide as you wish. Your current energy progress is full, so you can give it a try, but please mind your safety.]
Yu Deng uttered an "oh," and after some hesitation, still decided to use his power. He told his pets, the three-headed hound and the little bat, to go play by themselves, then flapped his small wings and slowly flew toward the door of the Guide's bedroom.
The heavily carved wooden door was tightly shut. Just as Yu Deng raised his hand to knock, the door swung open from the inside.
The lighting inside the bedroom was very dim. Yu Deng peered inside and called out, "Ronald?"
The Vampire Prince didn't mind the little vampire addressing him so familiarly by his first name. "I'm here, come in."
Thus, the little vampire flew inside. The bedroom doors closed shut once again behind him.
The Vampire Prince's bedroom was located at the very top of the castle's main tower, occupying over a hundred square meters with a distinctly European interior layout.
Except that where a bed should have been placed, only a coffin stood.
That coffin was about two meters long and one and a half meters wide, much larger than the standard-sized coffin Yu Deng had seen in the previous instance.
Yu Deng couldn't recognize what material the coffin was made of; it must have been a magical creation within this instance's setting. Red light flowed across the surface of the coffin, emanating an eerie and ominous aura.
Yu Deng looked away and found the Vampire Prince sitting not far away.
"You... always sleep in there?" He pointed at the coffin.
"Mhm, vampires usually choose to slumber in such environments." The Prince didn't deny it, offering a brief explanation as he extended a hand toward Yu Deng. "Baby, come here."
The silver-haired vampire sat in a wide, luxurious chair, his long hair cascading down the armrest in a casual and lazy posture, radiating a terrifying aura that would make any ordinary vampire tremble with fear—except for Yu Deng.
Yu Deng walked up to his Guide and was instantly caught by the waist, settling onto the Vampire Prince's lap the very next moment.
Ronald lowered his gaze to look at his little vampire. "Were you out playing just now?"
"I wasn't playing, I was taking a walk," Yu Deng mumbled. "You fed me way too much food earlier, I'm so full."
The silver-haired vampire's hand rested on Yu Deng's belly, rubbing it very gently.
Though vampires' sense of smell wasn't quite as sharp as that of beastmen, it was still far keener than a human's.
His little vampire carried an annoying scent belonging to a werewolf.
