Yu Qingyan raised an eyebrow and looked over. “Your Highness, you’re meddling a bit too much!”

“Do you think you have the right to bargain with me?”

Yu Qingyan glared. “Whether I have the right or not, you don’t seem to know.”

“Finally admitting it?” Chu Yuchuan looked at the woman before him. “Who sent you?”

Yu Qingyan’s lips curled slightly. “Who sent me isn’t important.”

“Oh?”

“What matters is that our goals align.”

“What do you mean?”

“I’m here to help you deal with the Emperor.”

“Just you?”

“So what?” Yu Qingyan touched her nose, conceding she had been underestimated.

Chu Yuchuan shifted his tone. “Why would I want to go against my elder brother?”

“You know that well enough yourself. No need to ask me.”

Yu Qingyan took the opportunity to sit down, suddenly furrowing her brows. Though her body had not yet fully recovered, her assassin instincts remained sharp. Just as she tried to evade, Chu Yuchuan was quicker, pulling her into his embrace. Almost simultaneously, a sharp arrow whistled past, grazing his sleeve and leaving a streak of blood.

Yu Qingyan was about to step out and check, but Chu Yuchuan stopped her. “Don’t worry, Zuo Xuan is here.”

Frowning, Yu Qingyan looked at Chu Yuchuan’s left arm. She took out the medicine box that Cui’er had stored in the cabinet and reached to untie his outer robe.

“Thank you.”

Chu Yuchuan let her work. “You’re my princess consort; no need for thanks.”

Yu Qingyan carefully examined his wound—it was only a superficial injury. Actually, it was his own fault for being meddlesome. If he hadn’t come, she might not have had to dodge.

“Your Highness, the person has already died from poison.”

“Investigate thoroughly.”

“Yes.” Zuo Xuan looked up at Chu Yuchuan. “Your Highness, you seem shaken.”

“I’m fine. You may leave.”

Zuo Xuan retreated. Yu Qingyan frowned and looked at Chu Yuchuan. “You can leave too.”

Chu Yuchuan smiled faintly, a trace of amusement on his lips. “The night is late, the air heavy with dew, and I’m wounded. Are you so eager to send your consort away?”

“…”

“Or is it that you’d rather stay here with Master Gu?”

Yu Qingyan rolled her eyes and turned to leave.

“Where are you going?”

“There’s only one bed. If you stay here, I’ll have to go out.”

Chu Yuchuan stood and pulled her onto the bed. “This bed is large enough for two.”

Yu Qingyan rolled her eyes again. She was an assassin; how could she possibly sleep with someone lying beside her!

“Let me go!”

Yu Qingyan struggled, and Chu Yuchuan, helpless, had to press her acupoints again.

“Chu Yuchuan!”

“Princess consort, that sounds so sweet.” Chu Yuchuan smiled and lay beside her. “My name is Yuchuan, styled Lingchen. From now on, you can call me Lingchen.”

“…”

Yu Qingyan was speechless as she stared at the ceiling, listening to the gradually steady breathing beside her.

At dawn the next day, Chu Yuchuan woke up. Moving his body lightly, he sensed something was amiss.

“Awake already?”

“You—” Chu Yuchuan’s face darkened. He was a proud prince. Was it really necessary to hold a grudge just because they had slept in the same bed? “Let me go immediately!”

Yu Qingyan smiled, watching the man struggling before her. Without that black mask that kept others at bay, this man she had tied up with her special technique was nothing but a helpless beauty!

“I advise you not to move. If one of the silver needles in front of you accidentally pierces in, it won’t be good. Oh, and there’s one behind you too.”

Hmph! All day long, just pressing her acupoints—was he bullying her?

Yu Qingyan pulled out the black mask and waved it before his eyes. “If you want to call your men in, feel free.”
