Humans are not born to be defeated.

In the depths of despair, Sun Siyu held onto hope, unwilling to die so easily. In this desperate moment, he unleashed his potential, using his slender arms to support the massive head of the wolf king—larger than his own head.

Perhaps the wolf king had not expected to take so long dealing with such a weak opponent. With a furious roar, it crossed its front paws and struck fiercely.

Sun Siyu’s chest was torn open; deep crimson blood seeped from two deep claw marks on his chest.

“Ah—”

The searing pain of torn flesh made Sun Siyu cry out involuntarily.

Looking down, he saw his blood slowly oozing out like a small stream, flowing down his sides and soaking his back.

The warmth and viscosity of the blood spread throughout his body, intensifying his fear.

The harder Sun Siyu resisted, the faster the blood flowed.

As the blood spilled in greater volumes, the remaining strength in his body drained away, his temperature dropped, and his consciousness blurred.

Mother, what should I do?

Seizing the advantage was the fundamental truth of attack. Although the wolf king’s head could not reach Sun Siyu’s body, it still had claws. Sun Siyu’s hands were pinned down by the wolf king’s head.

“Hiss—”

Another claw aimed directly at Sun Siyu’s neck.

“Ding, dong.”

A necklace flew off Sun Siyu’s body, knocked away by the wolf king’s claw, landing on the ground with a clear chime.

That necklace saved Sun Siyu’s life.

If not for that necklace, it wouldn’t have been just the necklace breaking—it would have been Sun Siyu’s neck.

Even so, a deep wound now marred Sun Siyu’s body.

“Boss!” In the communications room, the technician gripped the joystick, his thumb poised on the fire button, ready to shoot the wolf king at Inoue Izumi’s command.

“Wait, wait a moment.”

Inoue Izumi clenched his fists tightly, his Adam’s apple bobbing nervously. This was the first time in twenty years he had felt such tension.

“Mom!”

That necklace was a gift from his mother; he would not allow anything to destroy it.

“Ahh—”

Sun Siyu’s fury erupted. This was no longer the desperate fight for survival, but pure anger—rage that the wolf king had broken the only thing Ling Xueqin had given him.

He wanted to! Kill! It!

A powerful aura suddenly burst forth from Sun Siyu’s body. The wolf king froze, staring in shock at the life rapidly fading from the boy pinned beneath it.

It sensed that familiar aura—the aura of a victorious king, tempered through countless battles; an absolute king’s presence.

Why would such a weak human possess such an aura? It could not comprehend. Before this overwhelming kingly aura, it dared not resist even a fraction.

A golden light shot from Sun Siyu’s brow, instantly illuminating the entire cell.

“What is that? What’s happening?” The technician stared at the monitor in astonishment. Suddenly, the screen blurred, the image vanished, and the signal was lost—the screen went black.

“This is bad!” Inoue Izumi cursed under his breath, kicked open the steel door of the communications room, and rushed out.

“Boss! Shouldn’t you be more careful? That’s a newly installed imported bulletproof encrypted door—it’s expensive!” The technician hurried to the doorway, lifting the steel door which had a deep dent from the kick, his face full of concern.

After the golden light faded, Sun Siyu’s wounds stopped bleeding and began to heal at an astonishing rate.

Feeling the diminishing weight of the wolf king atop him, Sun Siyu opened his eyes. The wolf king’s eyes were closed; it had not yet recovered from the sudden flash of golden light and trembled slightly.

“Ugh—”

Sun Siyu paid no mind to why the wolf king had suddenly relaxed its grip. He only knew he must seize this moment. Supporting the wolf king’s chin with his hand, he raised its head, lifted his own, and bit down on the wolf king’s neck.

The wolf king instinctively tried to resist, struggling, but the victorious aura radiating from Sun Siyu crushed any will to fight back.

Taking advantage, Sun Siyu bent his knees and pushed off the ground, flipping the wolf king onto its back, and bit into its neck.

“Pfft.”

Wolf’s blood flowed from the wolf king’s neck, mixing with the blood on Sun Siyu’s teeth.

“Glug, glug, glug.”

Parched and starving, Sun Siyu drank deeply of the wolf’s blood.

Four days hungry, four days thirsty, four days terrified, four days weak, four days despairing—at this moment, Sun Siyu erupted with newfound strength.

Fueled by the will to survive, the thirst for revenge, pride, and the spirit of a victor… he savored his prize.

The wolf king’s blood dripped into Sun Siyu’s stomach as the wolf’s strength waned. Its body trembled and its limbs twitched faintly.

Finally, the wolf king’s eyes opened once more—then stopped beating. Its limbs ceased moving entirely.

Only then did Sun Siyu manage to rise, his mouth stained with blood, looking terrifyingly fierce. Remember, this was a boy of only ten years old. Such a scene would belong only in a horror movie.

Perhaps it was the relief of having defeated the wolf king, the danger gone, that loosened Sun Siyu’s tightly wound nerves. Pain and exhaustion crashed over him once more.

He looked at the necklace lying not far away on the ground. Supporting himself on the wall, he slowly staggered over.

Bending down to reach it, his body swayed and collapsed to the floor.

Gritting his teeth, he forced his eyes open, enduring the pain to grasp the necklace. Turning over onto his back, he struggled to fasten it once more around his neck.

Touching the necklace and thinking of his mother’s face, he fainted.

“Ding!”

A sturdy steel door was sliced open. Inoue Izumi appeared in the doorway, holding a silver-white katana.

Seeing Sun Siyu lying on the ground, covered in blood, Inoue Izumi sheathed his blade and hurried inside. He crouched down, extending his right hand’s index and middle fingers to check Sun Siyu’s pulse.

“He’s still alive.”

Inoue Izumi exhaled in relief. After a brief inspection of the boy’s injuries, he scooped Sun Siyu up in one arm and headed out.

Passing the wolf king’s corpse, Inoue Izumi noticed the fatal wound on its neck. With his trained eye, he immediately saw it had been killed by a bite. The blood on Sun Siyu’s mouth wasn’t his own—it was the wolf king’s!

What on earth had just happened here? Sun Siyu, a mere ten-year-old child with no professional training, had actually killed a wolf king that had taken several skilled Iga ninjas to capture?

This was simply unbelievable.

Was it luck, or something else? Whatever it was, it exceeded Inoue Izumi’s expectations. All he had hoped for was that Sun Siyu would hold on—he never imagined such a small boy could defeat the wolf king.

Cradling Sun Siyu in his arms, Inoue Izumi suddenly found himself filled with hope for the boy’s future achievements.
