Chapter 59: The Heir of the Wu Family Lights the Sky Lantern! (Part Three)
Chapter 59: The Heir of the Wu Family Lights the Sky-High Lamp!
"Oh! So I should leave now?" Wu Yu got up, acting as though he was about to step outside. In his current state, looking like a beggar with still plenty of bloodstains on his clothes, if anyone were to lay eyes on him, there was no telling what kind of rumors would start flying.
"Shut up!" Yin Jiangxue glared at Wu Yu through gritted teeth before finally waving her hand. "Bring him a change of clothes!"
"Tell that old fellow that this matter is far from over—he owes me an explanation!" With that, she turned on her heel and strode away.
There were still countless matters downstairs waiting for her to hold down the fort; she simply didn't have the time to fool around with Wu Yu.
Seeing this, Wu Yu couldn't help but chuckle. "This Yin Jiangxue is still a bit too green!"
After closing the door, Wu Yu turned around and smiled at the man already seated at the table. "I knew you'd definitely come."
"Here... where is he?"
"The curse inside your body was just triggered!"
The Brother Qiang had caught a glimpse of Wu Yu's back earlier, so he knew for certain that someone from the Zhang family had made a move.
Right now, across Wu Yu's back, in addition to the Cursed Eye sealed away by numerous chains, there was now an extra layer of Bagua symbols and roaring flames suppressing it. Faint red runes flickered amidst the Bagua lines, born from the vitality of the Qilin blood.
For Zhang Qilin, who possessed the purest bloodline of the Zhang family, this was as blinding as a beacon in the pitch-dark night—he didn't even need to look closely to feel the dazzling glare.
"Yes," Wu Yu nodded. He had no intention of keeping secrets from the Brother, but he was also well aware that Zhang Rishan had clearly gone into hiding precisely because he wanted nothing to do with anyone from the Zhang family.
Back in the day, Zhang Rishan's entire lineage had been cast out by the main Zhang family, and it was only thanks to the Old Buddha that they were eventually taken in.
Precisely because of this, Zhang Rishan and quite a few other Zhang family members bearing the Qilin bloodline had become the Old Buddha's personal guards!
"He asked me to tell you that the relationship between you and him is strictly that of blood kin, nothing more. There are no other ties. You have your own mission and duty, but their branch of the Zhang family has long since had nothing to do with yours. Finding him is pointless, and he won't tell you anything either. Every answer and result you wish to know can only be uncovered slowly through your own efforts."
Wu Yu stepped forward and looked at the Brother as he spoke.
"Is he... also a member of the Zhang family?" Zhang Qilin fell silent, lowering his head in deep thought for a long while before finally nodding. "I understand. That is enough."
With that, sensing a commotion outside, he leapt gracefully through the window and vanished into the night.
Watching the Brother's retreating figure, Wu Yu let out a soft sigh inwardly. He knew the Brother's nature all too well; he had never relied on others to hand him answers or unravel the mysteries for him.
Yet, he was already content now, because he knew he was not entirely alone in this wide world after all—there were still surviving members of his own bloodline!
And that was enough!
Remaining mysteries surrounding his own existence were ones he would resolve with his own hands!
"Sir, these are the clothes our young lady prepared for you," Tingnu knocked gently on the door before pushing it open.
Her gaze, however, darted back and forth around the room with a trace of lingering suspicion.
"Thank you!" Wu Yu accepted the outfit, which resembled a traditional Zhongshan suit. "Please thank your Boss Yin for me!"
"Certainly," Tingnu nodded, then turned and walked out.
After changing completely from head to toe, Wu Yu stretched his limbs and smiled. "They actually fit quite well!"
Right at that moment, his eyes caught sight of the final auction item being brought out on display!
It was also the grand finale of this entire auction... the Snake-Brow Copper Fish!
As for the explanation provided by the New Moon Hotel, it consisted of a mere two words: "Unknown!"
Age unknown!
Origin unknown!
Purpose unknown!
Once sold, no returns or exchanges!
Given how long the New Moon Hotel had stood firm in the underworld, could they truly be ignorant of what this item was?
Everyone sitting in the hall below was sharp-witted; naturally, they understood the truth behind this. If the hotel genuinely had no clue what it was, how could they possibly feature it as the grand finale?
Furthermore, the private rooms on the second floor had hardly placed any bids throughout the evening, clearly reserving their strength for a specific goal. Thus, an obvious conclusion could be drawn... this grand finale item was extraordinarily extraordinary!
Wu Yu instinctively turned his head to glance toward the partition wall at the back. After finishing casting the seal on himself earlier, he had retreated into the secret chamber. Clearly, he knew the Brother would sense his presence and come searching for him. Having left those parting words behind, the occupant of that chamber had retreated inside once more, showing no intention of coming back out.
And now, even with the finale item making its appearance, that person still showed no sign of emerging. Shrugging his shoulders, Wu Yu decided against disturbing them further.
Faint sounds of the pop song *Two Butterflies* drifted from behind the wall, making him marvel at the senior's exceptionally unique taste in music!
At the same time, he spotted Wu Tianzhen and Fatty, who seemingly managed to track down the matriarch of the Huo family, Huo Xiangu, at last!
Shortly after, amidst an inaudible exchange between them, Wu Tianzhen wore a slightly indignant expression before heavily plopping down onto a nearby chair.
"Splendid!" Wu Yu clapped his hands in applause at the sight from inside his room.
Meanwhile, the final auction had yet to officially commence. The New Moon Hotel always observed a brief intermission before its grand finale lot.
Listening to the melodious strains of *Mu Guiying Takes Command* playing below, Wu Yu nodded slightly. "Tonight marks official debut of Young Master Three in front of all these veteran seniors!"
"I only wonder what moves those venomous snakes and rats lurking in the shadows might decide to make!"
Wu Yu gently stroked the case of his guqin, murmuring to himself.
Suteng slowly poked her head out from his collar, affectionately rubbing against his cheek as if trying to comfort him.
"Alright, I'm fine!" Wu Yu smiled, though an amused thought soon struck him, leaving him not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
After all that agonizing time spent picking out clothes, Wu Tianzhen and Fatty had somehow ended up choosing outfits that looked identical to the uniforms worn by the New Moon Hotel waiters!
He really didn't know what to say to that; the aesthetic judgment of those two idiots truly needed serious improvement.
The music ceased, and everyone returned to their respective seats.
However, upon looking up and realizing which box Wu Tianzhen had unexpectedly taken his seat in, the crowd simultaneously stood up and burst into applause to offer their congratulations!
*Bang!*
The door was kicked open once more with a heavy thud, startling Suteng so badly that she instantly shrank back into his collar.
Without needing to guess, there was only one person in the entire New Moon Hotel who would dare pull such a stunt—that tyrannical mistress, Yin Jiangxue.
"Using your own family's property sure means you don't feel the pinch," Wu Yu sighed. Every single door in Zhang Rishan's wing, even the simplest wooden one, was crafted from top-tier red sandalwood!
"What on earth is your Wu family trying to pull?!" Yin Jiangxue glared at Wu Yu through gritted teeth. "Do you have any idea what it means for Wu Tianzhen to sit in that specific seat?!"
"Are you asking me?" Wu Yu feigned complete ignorance. "This is my first time here, how could I possibly know!"
"Creak, creak..." Yin Jiangxue grinded her pearly white teeth in utter fury at his response.
"You don't know? Then this lady will tell you!"
"Him sitting there means he is claiming the entire lot! No matter how high the bidding goes for this Snake-Brow Copper Fish, he will have to pay an additional ten percent on top of that final price!"
