Chapter 30: A Killing Intent Unleashed
Chapter 30: Towering Murderous Intent
The system’s existence required the triggering of plot points to perform check-ins. If it were just for himself, he could wait for Wu Tianzhen to slowly grow, but his mother did not have that much time left.
Returning home this time, he specifically had the system examine her, and the results were grim. The quest to obtain the Muchen Bead had to be accelerated!
However, with the chips currently in his hand, the Warehouse 11 might not be able to muster the real power needed to help him.
"What a headache," Wu Yu sighed softly, rolling over.
Little did he know, Fatty had narrowed his eyes at that moment, casting a thoughtful look toward Wu Yu before drifting back to sleep.
But what Fatty did not see was a small green leaf suddenly emerging from the sword case beside Wu Yu, swaying continuously until Fatty closed his eyes, at which point it zipped back inside.
Compared to Wu Tianzhen’s proactive nature, Wu Yu seemed to care much less about Wu Sanshu—at least, that was how it appeared to A-Ning.
When Wu Yu woke up, it was already afternoon.
As soon as he stepped out of his cabin, everyone he passed cast complex, indescribable gazes at him. Without exception, there was a hint of fear hidden within those looks.
They did not know what had happened after listening to his music the day before, but when they woke up, the memories had surged into their minds like a tidal wave, etched into their very souls.
"Yo! Everyone’s here!" Wu Yu smiled as he saw them huddled around a map on the deck. He tapped the table: "Captain? Bring the food up!"
"Right, right, right..." The captain’s face turned ugly at the sound of his voice, but he had no choice but to comply.
Soon, two small dishes were brought up. The captain did not even dare to glance at Wu Yu, turning and leaving without a moment's hesitation.
Throughout the afternoon, under the guidance of Wu Tianzhen and Xiaoge, they finally determined their location. However, they still planned to check the spot where Wu Sanshu’s signal had vanished, as that area was riddled with reefs.
Yet, as the fishing boat gradually sailed into international waters, the wind and waves grew increasingly violent. Feeling the overcast sky and the thunderous roaring, a weight suddenly pressed down on Wu Yu’s heart.
The sharp swords within the case hummed with varying degrees of intensity, as if they were about to be unsheathed at any second.
"Damn it, why is there an urge to draw my sword against the heavens?" Wu Yu whispered, the words "One sword opens the gates of heaven" teetering on the tip of his tongue.
"Your heart... is in chaos," Xiaoge said, placing a hand on Wu Yu’s shoulder with a grave expression. "Who are you planning to kill?"
The sword intent emanating from the case was something others could not feel, but Xiaoge could. To him, it looked as if Wu Yu was preparing for a bloodbath.
"It’s nothing. I don’t know why, but I have a bad premonition," Wu Yu shook his head. He had asked the system, but it was as if it had sunk into the sea, completely ignoring him.
Seeing this, Xiaoge did not press further, simply standing silently by his side.
"Thanks," Wu Yu took a deep breath, looking at Xiaoge with gratitude. The Qilin was indeed a legendary auspicious beast; having Xiaoge by his side had truly eased his state of mind and brought him some relief.
Soon, hurricanes struck, and the sea turned as black as ink. Their fishing boat looked incredibly small, sailing alone on the ocean.
But no matter how much the boat tossed and turned, Wu Yu and Xiaoge remained on deck as if they had been nailed to it, not moving a single inch.
"Oh no! What is that in front of us? Is it a monster?" A crew member suddenly panicked.
Many people looked over and began to panic as well; some even knelt on the ground and started to pray.
"Idiots, what are you doing? Go drive the boat! If you don't want to die, leave this area immediately!" Tianzhen roared, though his voice could not travel far in such conditions.
Seeing this, Fatty pulled out his gun and pointed it at the captain: "Drive the boat, now!"
"Drive? We can't!" The captain looked at Fatty with despair. "Just shoot me and freeze to death! Shoot me now, at least it’ll be less suffering!"
With that, he lunged for the gun. Fatty was startled but agile enough to dodge.
"What exactly is going on!" A-Ning slapped the captain hard, forcing him to regain his senses. He pointed tremblingly at the black shadow ahead: "Ghost ship! That's a ghost ship coming to find scapegoats!"
"A ghost ship? Scapegoats?" A-Ning curled her lip in disdain.
"Don't doubt it, Sister A-Ning. No ship that encounters a ghost ship ever escapes. Unless the ghosts on board find a replacement, everyone on the boat dies!"
"No matter how we run, it will catch up to us and drag the chosen people over!"
Looking at the captain’s reaction, it didn't seem like he was lying.
"Ding!"
"Mission issued: Check in at the ghost ship, save A-Ning, find Chen Wenjin’s notes, and slay fifty water monkeys and fifty forbidden women (Jinpo) invading the ship!"
"You’re finally alive?" Wu Yu rolled his eyes irritably but didn't dwell on it. "Quite a few requirements, and still so stingy—only ten years of inner energy?"
"Xiaoge, I'll leave Tianzhen to you," Wu Yu said, looking at Xiaoge.
"Be careful," Xiaoge nodded. He could feel that Wu Yu’s state had improved significantly, but if he wanted to recover completely, venting was the only way.
As for this so-called ghost ship, Xiaoge didn't think it could cause Wu Yu any trouble.
Sure enough, the ghost ship, which seemingly had no propulsion, moved with incredible speed. In the blink of an eye, it stopped right beside their fishing boat.
It was covered in rust and emitted a foul, fishy stench. At that moment, the raging waves seemed to vanish.
Wu Yu, standing on the deck, could feel that the waves hadn't lessened; rather, there were swarms of forbidden women beneath the ship, packing together to move it, followed by an army of water monkeys!
"Turn around!" the captain roared. "Everyone turn around! Leave your life to fate!"
Once the words left his mouth, everyone complied, including A-Ning and the curious Tianzhen.
"I say, there’s no need for this. It’s just a shipwreck from long ago that floated up because of the hurricane... A-Ning!" Tianzhen, who had been smiling, saw his expression change drastically a second later: "What is that... on your shoulder!!!"
Before A-Ning could react, something resembling hands exerted force, dragging her directly into the cabin of the ghost ship.
"A-Ning!!!" Tianzhen screamed and rushed forward to save her, but the ghost ship had already drifted away, maintaining a distance from the fishing boat.
"These things are clever," Wu Yu sneered. If the ghost ship was so fast, how could it be like this? To put it plainly, these beasts were fishing.
And A-Ning was the bait!
